Price of petrol just now is prohibitive to make it down unfortunately. Things are that bad I put Vodka in my petrol lawnmower to see if that would work. The grass is half-cut.5 points

Glasgow will secure 2nd place . Plymouth just needed a guest . I think Plymouth are happy to be close to a play off position .3 points

Apart from die hard fans (I don't mean the film!) A lot of fans pick and choose meetings so spread out at different meetings during the season. But obviously they all choose to attend the playoffs!3 points

Oxford Speedway is another example of a Track being opened up with the help of Greyhound racing . The project would never have happened but for the Dogs .3 points

I don't get why people say things like what Allitt has said. Why put out riddles, either you have something to say or you don't.Typical Allitt i suppose.3 points

I heard on Radio Oxford either earlier this week or the tail end of last week that representatives of PETA were invited To the stadium to see the facilities for the Greyhounds and talk to those involved in running the Greyhounds, they declined I'm rapidly approaching my 60th birthday in an an ever changing World, where what was common usage of language in my youth is now frowned upon. I'd say in my life i've been pretty open and not given a toss about Race, Religion, Sexuality etc but to come across people who only believe what they want to hear/see and never listen to the otherside of the argument, you're all just narrowminded IMO.2 points

He's a smashing lad with a really likeable temperament and a willingness to listen and learn, but sadly never seems to figure in anybodies plans at the start of a season. I think he can go a long way in the sport.2 points

But there’s a massive difference there. When I go on a Thursday evening, there’s seven Witches donned in their Witches team suits representing my home town team. Who cares who else they ride for?? I don’t. Danyon Hume rode for Glasgow last night and rode very well, but to me he’s a Witch riding for someone else.2 points

Speedway started in the U.K. thanks to so many greyhound tracks being available - London dominated the sport and now the tracks are gone so has the speedway. I count 2 Premiership, 3 Championship (inc Edinburgh) and one stand alone NDL club racing at a greyhound track. The sport really needs to get out of these places and develop modern tracks capable of meeting the speed of a modern bike. Workington is a prime example, out of the way and a super track.2 points

I presume you're referring to the cost of buying the BSN stream, which is £12.99? (You're not referring to the admission price of attending the meeting - £20 I think ) If so, I don't see a problem. It's paid by card and it's pretty common in retail to end prices in 99p to look psychologically cheaper.2 points

I see the admission price for the pairs is £12.99 that's fantastic as surely no one would want to pay £13.00!2 points

The RTE report stated less than 6,000 (5,987 to be precise). Now while the number is still shocking, it helps to get your facts right. It was also definitely not commissioned by the IGB - that was the Preferred Results report, which was an internal investigation that was leaked to RTE. And the biggest issue of all is this is solely IRELAND and nothing to do with ENGLAND, so it's a bit misleading to state this in a thread about Swindon (and speedway in England in general). As others have stated, whether you are pro greyhound racing or not, there's no doubt there would be far fewer speedway clubs still going without it.2 points

Would definitely recommend a visit to Oxford for those fans that dont have a local speedway team to watch. Quite a few Robins fans there from Swindon and district, plus other former nearby clubs such as Reading and Coventry. A few from London and south-east as well. Good stadium, easy access, good facilities, some good racing, and big crowd around 2000 with noisy atmosphere. With Newcastle closing with crowds of less than 400, and general negativity surrounding British league speedway it's good to see this success story in central-southern England.1 point

That's your answer is it? Seriously? "Nicola" is a derogatory term for an English person in your opinion is it?1 point

A must win for us. Would bite your hand off for a 46-44 right now. Pirates with a strong top 3 and drew more than capable of scoring well round the dale. The fitness of Sam as well up in the air with his foot injury as well. no weather issues any track needs plenty of water for once.1 point

How can you think it's fair to come up with a figure based on two completely different countries? Why don't you add in deaths from Australia and USA as well, you'll get an even bigger number you can try and claim is 'in this country' (as you originally stated) then. I just don't buy this is a result of 'typos' either, sorry! Poor excuse. Stop trying to sell us the fact that greyhound racing is bad, we get it. Now, let's talk about speedway.1 point

Danyon has surprised me this season, thought initially it was a strange signing, but he is having a good season and is a shrewd signing.1 point

This is a figure from early 2018. Latest figures show the number is far closer to 400. How do you not know this? Plus again you're adding the 1,000 figure of greyhounds that died racing in the UK to the almost 6,000 figure from Ireland to come up with 7,000! It makes no sense. Regardless of David Smith, if you think the UK and Ireland have the same practices, you're very much mistaken. There are significant differences and you certainly can't group them altogether to come up with a magical figure. At the end of the day, even one death is too many, but you need to get your facts right. Anyway, I'm not here to here to discuss greyhound welfare with someone who is on a witch hunt. I'm discussing speedway, and its survival. Yes it would be better to be away from greyhound stadia, but it's just not possible in some circumstances. Many clubs would not exist without them, and certainly don't have the means to survive on their own.1 point

Kemp's performances at Armadale were very mixed, from maximum to very, very poor. Friday's result hangs on which Drew Kemp turns up.1 point

It’s aimed at kids Lisa so for them it won’t feel embarrassing. And just to make things clear I know every single word off the top of my head , it just rolls of the tongue.1 point

I bought the streaming for all 6 meetings, went to Ipswich and obviously will go to Lynn, didn't go to Boro. Great to watch meetings back even if I go in person, won't be attending Wolves, Sheffield and BV (unless our boys are in for the title) ..... It's been a good, competative comp so far imo ......1 point

I do prefer team speedway, but in a way this does involve your team as they are not riding for themselves individually. They are representing your team.1 point

Remember first seeing him ride in the conference for cradly at Buxton some years ago and he went through the card I think.looked very impressive and was certainly one that I thought would progress, looked very stylish but he,s been so so unlucky with injuries and it's not nice to see him struggling for points.1 point
-
Totally agree. Many people/fans have cried out about seeing some higher calibre riders. Now we see better riders all together i wonder how many of those will support it.Not many i assume. So we are getting better riders, two extra heats to a normal meeting and all for the same price, that isn't too bad in my eyes. The only thing that lets it down a bit is how the rising stars are utilised.1 point

And tbf we will never ever be able to utilise a rider from the top 5 in the way Ipswich did with Riss going to reserve. Its just the way Adams built the side.1 point

Confirmed for Wednesday 31st August 2022. Despite AFC Bournemouth now having a home match the same night (switched from Tuesday 3oth due to BT Sports wanting live coverage).1 point

Don't know why all the negativity on this. Watched first round on BSN, went to Ippo for second round, and will be at Lynn tomorrow. It's a good concept, but as usual needs much better promotion to interest people outside the speedway circle. The only thing that needs a bit more thought is use of the reserves1 point

They are too busy posting on the Internet about how to save British speedway by having better line ups that will bring the crowds flocking back and the need for more meetings other than league matches.1 point
-
No idea what the crowd was last night but I thought it was a very healthy one to be fair , certainly looked a good crowd to me anyway it was a very good meeting , much better than the score suggests, some of Zagar’s and Fricke’s moves were sensational but for me the sight of Brady Kurtz in full flow around Belle Vue is absolutely spectacular. I hadn’t actually attended a live meeting anywhere since 1993 until I went to Belle Vue last season and while I can’t get to every meeting I am impressed with the ones I get to and I love watching Brady Kurtz this season, reminds me of the old Henka Gustafsson and Mark Loram days from my last season watching in 1993 at Kings Lynn..heart in mouth at his lines sometimes but great to watch.1 point

Has this been put back to half 7 specifically to allow "the guest" to ride in the test match?1 point

Best thing to do next year for Palin would be get to away from Scunthorpe for a year or two. You only have to look at the Worrall's they went up another level when leaving Scunny, Ash Birks went to Sheffield for a year before coming back to Scunthorpe and improved immensly before retiring. Also Douglas has improved hell of a lot having a few years away. Riding the same track year in year out is no good for a riders career imo. Before anyone has a go i don't mean he shouldn't come back in the future but it might be best for both parties in the long run1 point
