Think it’s been proven over the years put a decent team together and you will get the fans through the gate, getting thrashed at home with a poor team isn’t going to make people watch6 points

He said he closed the track to protect it so hopefully someone would come in and buy it and keep it going... I would suggest selling off everything needed to run a Speedway meeting might not make it much of a tempting proposition...6 points

The difference is the West Lothian council actually want speedway, that makes a big difference. plus i think the fate of armadale could have been predicted 4 or 5 years ago so things have happened in background.5 points

I said British Speedway - it stands or falls as an entity. Unfortunately, some of them tend to stand happily playing their own fiddle while others burn ... and if you think some tracks are doing very nicely, then I'd like to see their attendance figures and profit & loss - I would be surprised if there's a single promoter who runs a speedway business and makes a worthwhile profit - and if there is, are they telling everyone else the secret?4 points

Agreed on the previous promotion, surely it took more than a bit of VAT fiddling to get the likes of Worrall, Lambert, Lyons, Larsen, and many more through the door over the years. I think Grant was (is) just useless.3 points

Plan is to have slightly shorter straights and longer wider bends with some banking. like a mini belle vue you could say.3 points

That’s what happens when you get into something you think you know about, but then discover you don’t.Maybe should have dug deeper before he got involved. He did give it a try though, much to his cost if everything is to be believed.3 points

What is an example of vanity? a selfie? Vanity is the quality of having too much pride in one's appearance or accomplishments or a bathroom cabinet that has a mirror and a sink. An example of vanity is a girl thinking she is the prettiest in the entire school or a Dad fitting into his sons Kevlar's and thinking they fit better on him than they do on the son... Gotcha Big Boy... I'm to sexy for these Kevlar's... Aye Righto Said Fred... Regards THJ3 points

After the TV nonsense from the Monday and Thursday mini league , it's a return to proper speedway on Friday evening with a visit from the always entertaining Redcar Bears . Three ex Tigers in the shape of Wright , Roynon and Kerr in their ranks . The decent German ex Monarch , Erik Riss , and Jason Edwards who has developed a liking for our track guesting for other teams this season . So there is plenty of talent in their side to suggest this could be a close one . Unknown yet if Craig Cook will be fit enough to ride , but Mr Entertainment , Ben Basso , bouncing off the air fence ensures the admission money is worth every penny . Hopefully my good friends from Teesside will make the journey north , should be an excellent evening2 points

What a pack of lies... honestly it's enough to make you puke... I was at the track the other night and anyone who wants the truth just needs to call round and talk to them and this debacle has nothing to do with them... they aren't making any demands and have no agenda as far as the comments made above... there is no pressure from the stadium... There are lies, dam lies and then there is the dross JER puts out on Facebook... Regards THJ2 points

Newcastle Speedway update As of today Newcastle Speedway has had two parties come to show a bit of interest in taking the club over. However both parties have since pulled away once they realised the shear costs of operating speedway at Newcastle. We have been asked to start a clean up process at the stadium and the existing assets of Newcastle Diamonds Ltd. are being sold as we speak in order to help the promoting company, Newcastle Diamonds Ltd pay off outstanding debts and of course to start paying off all the season ticket refunds. If someone genuinely feels they can take Newcastle Speedway forward then it’s essential they make a move NOW and begin talks with the stadium and the BSPL to see if there is any hope of Newcastle Speedway continuing.2 points

What is upsetting is that there are some fans whom may not be online alot/etc newcastle speedway was everything to them, it got them out, it was their passion and hobby. Now sadly its no more and any bit of newcastle speedway is being sold off. im heartbroken cause i loved this sport, but im more angry about the aftermath!2 points

The most gutting incident of the night was the start marshal trying to get his gut between Drew Kemp and Chris Harris in heat 11!2 points

Jenga or is it Barry Norman? That was one of them rhetorical question as I know what film it was from... and so does everyone else I would guess... I only asked it to get you thinking and for humorous effect... so thanks for participating... pleased it worked... However if I need the answer I would ask for it to be put on a post card... Yes i know, so don't build a team with three top riders, it is better to build a team with two top riders and a stronger reserve.2 points

It might be the best scenario if we can’t find a solution... give him nowt, start afresh and try and find new track somehow2 points

It's 'unsatisfactory start' I believe which they use for first bend incidents.2 points

Thought the ref got all the calls right last night. Watched the meeting back and hav’t changed my mind. Yes quite harsh but exactly the same as Poland. The only howler he made was allowing heat 11 to start when the start Marshall clearly bulked Kemp. Red light should have come on and riders to reset at tapes.2 points

Couldn't agree more...good old H&S and of course once upon a time kids (and the odd adult) were once allowed to ride pillion on the bike during the interval etc.2 points

that line is right T its taken from a field of dreams , the line is people will come ( i was wrong } i thought it was , build it and they will come . a. field of dreams , who would have thought this dream would be on our doorstep . it just get better by the day . well done EVERYONE ][2 points

Definitely not long term in your eyes if you got his name wrong!2 points

But if he doesn't sell everything then the club may close forever as no one would want to come in and buy it... Errr... Think I have spotted the slight flaw in his cunning plan....2 points

Aye, he’s doing a lot to help Speedway at Newcastle to continue, NOT. WHAT A A-wipe2 points

Not provocative mate. It just makes me laugh when people don’t attend matches but think they know the true facts. When the track staff explain something they have worked on and then get slagged off how would you react. Them lads work hard every week and yet some keyboard warrior slates them without knowing what actually happened. It was a one off and hopefully everyone learns from it. Had it been at Ipswich then I think there would have been more lieiency from the home fans regarding the delay. It’s done now so look forward to next meeting2 points

Gary Ablitts career finished a long time ago at Everton,I'm afraid.2 points

Best thing to do next year for Palin would be get to away from Scunthorpe for a year or two. You only have to look at the Worrall's they went up another level when leaving Scunny, Ash Birks went to Sheffield for a year before coming back to Scunthorpe and improved immensly before retiring. Also Douglas has improved hell of a lot having a few years away. Riding the same track year in year out is no good for a riders career imo. Before anyone has a go i don't mean he shouldn't come back in the future but it might be best for both parties in the long run2 points

We can't afford to pay out that much - new stadium to pay for!! (Hopefully.)2 points

Kennedy a long term gain? Palin maybe heading towards Josh Auty status but he could easily be another Simon Lambert. Definitely needs to look at what his counterparts are doing Flint, Brennan, Thomas all increasing their averages whilst riding in a CL 1-5. Not saying it can't be turned around but riders destined for the top rarely have extended plateau's in form.2 points

Blimey. A forecast a prediction a percentage chance its all the same thing. The likelihood was that it was going to piddle down and a high likelihood at that so the promotion called the meeting off early saving / reducing costs to them (they will have already incurred fees for the rain off so its not like they get off freely) saving untold amounts of mileage travelled (Plymouth especially being an outpost will mean travelling the day prior is more common) and of course the countless amounts of work days that need not be cancelled due to travelling to the fixture by the early call off. Yes the predictions can be wrong but id much rather see an early call off end up dry than a meeting abandoned/not start when a poor forecast proved to be accurate.2 points

They do and Roynon swaps places with Edwards for Redcar which prevents Edwards taking extra reserve rides thankfully.2 points

I’m not a Poole fan but think you are talking nonsense.3 good heat leaders and 3 riders with potential only having to carry Nathan which was probably expected.2 points

What a great night last night, nice weather, big crowd, a sprinkling of good racing... and a Leicester win! A big congratulations to everybody that has made Oxford come back... the stadium was looking the best I have ever seen it, it's a great little race track as well with its straight and bends being in good proportions. That's the positives, things that still need working on... While the track proportions are good for Speedway racing, the surface was a bit dry and dusty, but that's not a problem unique to Oxford, the "music" before the start of each race got a bit tedious after about heat 6... too much tractor racing and for the love of god SEND THE RIDERS ROUND AFTER THEY'VE WON A RACE! Big crowd in, most to watch Oxford, but all to watch the riders and they disappear back into the pits as soon as they've won a race! No geeing the crowd up in such a close match. Great meeting though, it's matches like this that keep you going through all the crap2 points

Hi and Thank you, The Dugard's have doubled what the previous promotion paid in rent but its in line with a lot of tracks now.. We are exploring every avenue but at the moment we are trying to see what sponsorship will be pledged before we do anything else.2 points

An excellent night out and well worth the trip down from Leicester. Really impressed with the work done to get the stadium up and running and the track was super smooth. A little bit more grip round the outside especially on bends 1 & 2 and it would have been an absolutely top drawer track tonight. If you haven’t made it there yet I would say it’s well worth a visit.2 points

Be specific. More than a few British tracks sell themselves very well, and are doing nicely, thanks.2 points

Chris Harris, what a fantastic servant to British Speedway. Wish there were more like him!2 points

So you'd have waited til the morning of the match? What time 2am, 4am,6am,8am,10am, 11.58am. Then you'd announce the blindingly obvious. It's going to hammer down from early afternoon, so the match we could have called off last night, so that you coukd plan your day accordingly.plus riders officials medics etc plan there's, we're going to call off now instead just to wind up to 1000 people up. Not to mention those at work, at school, preparing bikes, preparing medical kits, getting food in etc etc. Strikes me that rather than admit Plymouth we're right and you were wrong, you want to carry on against the blindingly obvious facts.2 points

I don't slag them off at all - quite the opposite! Your view that I am doing so is a great example of the blinkered depend your position regardless point that I make The indefensible is that Sheffield speedway has an airfence with unique fittings and didn't have a suitable replacement section/fittings to enable a speedy switch That can be regarded as slagging the promotion but in no way is a sleight on the track staff1 point

And whilst the paying public is continually taken for mugs the cashflow will dwindle further and further as more and more walk away week after week year after year......1 point

Personally I'd like to see Sam fronting the show... on his own for the whole 2-2 and a half hours, or pair him up with Rosco, the dream team!1 point
