Shiiiïït. Embarrassing from start to finish. From presentation, to air fence, to Sam, to the delay. How the he’ll go you expect to be taken seriously when you finally get a platform to show your sport worldwide and serve up this?9 points

Jason Doyle is a class act and a joy to watch in the purist sense of a quality rider. Great to have in any team but did not have the support he deserves but still enjoyed each race he was in. Presentation was dire and Sheffield got lucky with the curfew preceded by track delays/repairs to air fence. How anyone at the senior management level think speedway in this form is credible needs to take a long hard look at what you have left joe public with and the sooner you wake up to the fact that speedway in Great Britain is second rate and run it accordingly you will continue to end up with this sort of farce. Ditch the t v coverage and get back to basics before you the management committee finally kill it off.5 points

Love this line in bold Please be nice to all members and the sport we love. Speedway needs as many supporters as possible, think about how to help promote the sport rather than risk damaging it. Constrictive criticism and suggestions on improvement rather than negative and damaging attacks. All fine and dandy but when you have someone peeing up your leg and saying its okay mate its only raining... then people get a little frustrated... it the lies that have upset me the most... culminating in his fire sale... when someone is taking the paying public for granted then it can be difficult for folk to take a rational and reasoned approach... don't blame anyone for sounding off and if the thread gets pulled then so be it... so what... no one on here could do any more damage to the club than what has already been done... Was hearing Harris wanted to guest for both teams tomorrow night. He did insist on riding at 5 for Glasgow so as he didn’t clash with Bomber in heat 1 who is riding at 1 for Plymouth.4 points

Wasn't their break even number 1000 fans a week? To have even considered it achievable in Birmingham was a staggering thought... Some clubs are just NDL or nothing... And they are the clubs who want to ride "full time pro speedway" but cannot afford to fill their teams with Div 1 HL's and Second Strings... Unfortunately for these clubs who struggle at Div 2 level, a successfully ran NDL got changed to help the 2nd Division.... When Speedway becomes a well paid "other job" or hobby again (like it used to for the majority of riders), then it will have a chance... Paying riders enough for them to not work six months of the year, and to also pay them enough to fund their own personal individual ambitions, can never, ever be workable or cost affective in a sport followed by so few...4 points

I don't know how you actually KNOW that, however, I wouldn't be surprised if it were, as the landlords quite obviously don't want speedway tenants.3 points

Super heats are a get out of jail card for the home team, imo it's just another micky mouse rule that should have no place in league speedway...3 points

Well you all know how to win at Sheffield now, get in front & puncture a few airbags job done! In all seriousness the result should either be null & void and rerun or reclassified as a draw. I watched tonight for a first time in a while and the sad thing is I went into it hoping to see a contest & instead found myself even more pissed off with the sport. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse speedway sure does suprise in the most negative way!2 points

About time referees excluded them for delaying start They should have to ride up to the tapes and line up End of!2 points
-
And the heat that should have been declared unsatisfactory start but no one noticed the tapes went up lop sided Thats one I have a hard time explaining to friends I persuade to try watching a match - why its started with what looks like elastic strung across the track - guess no one has come up with a better, affordable alternative, but to newcomers to the sport it looks really odd.2 points

There was 13 people just standing around looking at that air fence instead of fixing it, what a farce2 points

Absolute farce that the witches miss the opportunity to collect a league point due to the Sheffield staff’s inability to repair the fence2 points

TV coverage isnt really doing the sport any favours this season, been some dire meetings, cant see newbies being tempted in.2 points

First time I've seen track staff playing time.... absolutely embarassing for Sheffield.2 points

The amount of time they took to repair the fence, Sheffield should forfeit the points2 points

Why do people keep making excuses for him, he's never been any different, been stealing a living at speedway for the last few years.2 points

Unfortunately that's it for tonight as I have used up my picture quota; I will be back with the rest of the track walk later on in the week and the next view once I can load it up is from the top of the banked area platform where the seats will be going looking across the back straight back towards the start tapes Oh and on that last one the gate got boarded out on Sunday so all the boards have been fitted to the fence... Here is the next big announcement Steve Lawson is turning up with a bike and I am turning up with my stop watch and Steve will be setting the official track record (weather permitting because he isn't as young or as daft as he used to be) on Saturday and Sunday with one or two other reprobates have a spin also... Not sure I'd go with that as he's smashing it for Poole Look at last season's heatleaders & this 2021- Belle Vue - Bewley / Kurtz / S. Worrall Ipswich - King / Cook / Crump King's Lynn - Lawson / Jorgensen / Riss P'boro - Toft / Ostergaard / Harris Sheffield - Holder / Ellis / Pickering Wolves - Masters / Schein / Morris 2022 Belle Vue - Fricke / Kurtz / Zagar Ipswich - Doyle / King / Batchelor King's Lynn - Lawson / Iversen / Pickering P'boro - Toft / Harris / Ostergaard Sheffield - Holder / Ellis / Musielak Wolves - Masters / Douglas / Morris As you can see, apart from P'boro & Wolves every other teams heatleader positions have strengthened significantly over 2021. Of course, I'm not seeing races through 'the eye test' but I feel he's being harshly spoken about considering he's got harder competition, even within his own teammates in heats. He's now got rider's who can outgate, outsmart & faster than him now.2 points

Park at the stadium. Stand down near the pits. Get a double burger from the trailer as you come in. Delicious. YMMV2 points

If Dan had watched the Stars last season and this one so far, he would see the drop off isn't due to Niels and Josh. I like Richard and hope he gets back to winning races for us again on a more regular basis this season. Whatever happens i'll be there cheering the lads on every week regardless.2 points

It would seem the biggest problem with speedway in the U.K. is to much energy, money & effort is spent on getting the best team & making the play-offs etc.. When the biggest effort should be: 1. Attracting a paying crowd that makes a profit week on week. 2. Providing a exciting & entertaining evening for the crowd. 3. Address the desperate shortage of U.K. riders.2 points

Birmingham has fallen out of love with speedway before, in the days when the sport was immeasurably more popular than it is now and at times when there were hardly any other attractions to spend your money on. The demographic of the city is vastly different to how it was 60, 50, 40 years ago. It's no surprise it's struggling now. Unfortunately.2 points

Abdication rather than delegation more like... if he had of delegated some of the tasks out to people who knew what they were doing we wouldn't be in this mess... Easier to walk away than try and pull things round... Just proved himself to be an even bigger clown than everyone thought he was in the first place... Regards THJ2 points

That was a great chat with Adrian Rymel, seems like a cool guy..! On another Berwick front while I remember, I make a podcast called Humans of Speedway, and a while back had a lovely chat with Dennis McCleary. Of course many Berwick fans will have had similar conversations over the years, but if you’d like a listen you can find it here .. https://pod.fo/e/d6ddf There’s also another episode with David Howe in the series too, and Kelvin Tatum on his time there..2 points

The final nail in the coffin for speedway in many ways is "the digital age". Speedway since it began was a "Cash" business. Lots of cash swilling around and very little auditing of payments and attendance figures etc etc. For decades large amounts of cash were "washed" through speedway, enabling things like large signing on fees of the 60's 70's 80's and 90's. Over recent times with more auditing, and waning crowd numbers, there have been fewer hiding places and it's become less attractive to all, as it shrinks in size. Everything these days can be scrutinised much more easily. Things have to stand up on their own two feet. Is it really any wonder that many of the businesses that are surviving also run hugely attended cash based Stock car meetings? If speedway has to stand on it's own two feet and pay it's own bills without help and subsidies, it doesn't fare well as the state we are in today shows only too well.2 points

It's been very difficult on track these past few weeks, wind and sun are our biggest nightmare. The problem is , riders do not want a lot of dirt going into the bends, that makes it so they can go in hard and fast with a degree of safety. That in its self causes us a problem with watering, as you need material to hold water, also the first few races most riders are on the inside line so it gets a battering. The tractors spin the dirt back down, not to hide anything, but to try and protect the base of the track and also bring the dirt back down so there is not a big build up mid to outside. We are not the only track having problems at the moment, I have spoken to a number of track curators it's a similar story. Hope that explains a few things?2 points
