  1. Workington’s revival is what makes Speedway special. The people behind this venture need to understand because of them, speedway has a future. Kids and adults for years to come can enjoy this sport in Workington because of them.

  2. Redcar really did lay out the red carpet for the Diamonds tonight with dozens of Geordies making the 1hr trip south to say an emotional goodbye in a hastily arranged meeting involving a Newcastle team made up of former Diamond's riders vs The Bears. After heat 15 the Diamonds supporters were invited to the start/finish line for a photo with the riders and as the tannoy system belted out Shirley Bassey's" Diamonds are forever" they were give a rapturous applause from the Redcar fans.

  8. Jenga, you said quote I like to smell the Methanol, that is not the same as the smell that comes out of the exhaust pipe on a speedway bike which is from the oil not the fuel..

  9. Every teams fans are going to like it when you win hate it when you lose, of the two super heats so far theres been mixed reactions even amongst the winning teams fans as to the point of the race , Peterborough's looney poster has just used it to wind up others and then everyone takes it that how all Peterborough fans feel Personally think its a waste of time and should be scrapped and go back to the points reward only . Peterborough's super heat win was against Sheffield and it was good for the fact that Holder finished up losing after his antics on the night .

  10. PIRATES charger Richard Lawson felt he was “wrongly disqualified” after being excluded following a frightening crash involving Plymouth’s Michael Palm Toft on Wednesday. An ambulance was called on track during the 45-45 draw between the sides at Wimborne Road after Dane Palm Toft’s bike had reared up on bend four during heat seven, while he and Lawson were battling for the lead. Lawson had already passed Kyle Howarth during the heat and attempted to dive under Palm Toft, before the Dane took out two panels of air fence while being flung up into the air. Thankfully, Palm Toft was able to walk away from the nasty spill. He was withdrawn from the meeting with a suspected shoulder injury. Giving his take on the incident, Lawson told Pirates’ website: “I haven't actually seen the replay of the incident but after turn three he (Palm Toft) took a glance and I felt like he had seen me and knew where I was going. “And I wasn't going to take him straight to the fence but he ran a bit out wide and mistimed the dirt and he got out of control. “I feel like there was no contact. I can't be certain of that but, if there was, it was while he was out of control. “So, for me I believe I was wrongly disqualified and I just wish the referee would have taken a look at the replay before he made his decision.” Speaking on the centre green post-meeting, Whitehaven-born Lawson added: “Obviously I am not trying to take people out and I don’t want to see anybody injured but he (Palm Toft) is not very happy. His wife’s not very happy. “But that’s speedway.” (Taken from today's Bournemouth Echo)

  13. It was also a much better meeting than the scoreline suggests, with some absolutely cracking races. Hope it’s not the last we have seen of the Diamonds but reading this thread things look pretty bleak in that regard.

  14. I think we all went into this one with a sense of trepidation, but in reality it was a pretty easy evening for the Tigers . Leicester had three heat leaders and four passengers . Horrible crash to start the meeting with Nick Morris' chain going with Cook right on his back wheel . So glad to see both get up , but maybe Craig should take a wee break now , too many crashes recently . After that we never had a failure , but Ben Basso all you can say is wow .

  18. Tuesday the news breaks JER makes the decission to close with immediate effect... Wednesday the press release I done it to secure the sale of the club for blah de blah woè is me reasons but it will make the club viable for someone else to take it forward.... Wednesday afternoon waited an hour and no one has rang to buy the club... the queue of multi millionaires sitting on the wall outside Brough haven't rang... OMG... What to do... what to do... I know FIRE SALE... the lying get had no intention of selling the club ready for next season... The tractors have been sold... the grading wheel and blade are on their way to Mildenhall and the Air Fence, Containners, Track Lights and Starting Gate are all open to the highest bidder... The odious lying little turd... I hope the food hygiene people nail his laal curly tail to a notice board... This place isn't coming back for sure as all the equipment is being flogged off... Am raging the way this tosser has gone on... what an A-wipe... More to follow when ave cooled down... or had more to drink... honestly what a merchant banker... THJ

  20. Adding to my previous post, the Chemical Formula for Methanol is CH3OH and when this is used as a fuel produces Methane CH4 gas and normal Water H2O, the latter can condense in the tail pipe of the exhaust or be ejected as steam vapour, neither of these compounds have any smell. I remember years ago adding a small amount of Castol R to my petrol for my motorcycle, just so as I passed by people could get a faint wiff of destinctive smell of the burnt oil, at no time could I smell it as I long since travelled down the road and after a while stopped doing this as it really wasn't worth the cost of adding it.

  22. I think there’s also weight behind the theory that he starts meetings well (particularly in the championship) and then seems to completely fizzle out in the later stages of meetings. Does he have a fitness issue? Although he did do the business with Doyle in heat 15 for us against Wolves to pinch the points. I still think he was a good signing personally. People forget he was signed as a 5 pointer and he’s good value for that.

  25. The only way is to not have it at all, total waste of time. Nothing wrong with 1 point for home team and 2 for the away team for a draw. I would've been happy to get a point from last night as I didn't think we were going to get that after heat 13. Some Peterborough fans don't like it, but it went in their favour at home to Sheffield and they had to use a TS to help them. Regarding the Starke-Doyle incident, I sit in front of the refs box by the start and had a clear view of the incident, so don't know how she got it wrong. Also I think they should get rid of the plants on the centre green, they do block parts of the view of the corner, but not in this incident.

  31. The rumours about Anders Rowe were rife long before the 8th of June, the Lions had ample opportunity to "promote from within", if Connor Coles is a club asset, not sure if he is. There was no Cubs team before the Thompson Twins and you have to wonder whether there'll be one after the Thompson Twins. The Cubs team is either a feeder for the senior team or a Development league for the benefit of the sport, as it's badged as Lions Cubs and are often run as part of a double header with the senior team that suggests it's a feeder club, you can't have it both ways. Don't get me wrong I am 100% for the development of "young" riders (does Connor Coles fit the bill?), personally I think it should be mandatory for all clubs to run a junior team as a 6 or 7 race 2nd half event, giving many riders a chance to ride many different tracks around the country. I always used to quite enjoy watching the youngsters after the main meeting at Coventry with Andy Hackett, David Clarke, Darren Slater, Mick (Mike?) Bacon & Wayne Broadhurst all progressing to the main team reserve berth during their careers.

  39. And I got blocked from Newcastle Facebook page for having an opinion and saying he ignored people who wanted to help! The only comments left were positive ones and ones calling him a legend Does Rob update the page himself? As anyone saying positive things about that idiot is not a true Diamonds fan!

  40. There was a Leicester Cubs Team in 2014. I went to see them ride at home against Kent on 6th April and against Mildenhall on 27th July. They had the same Team Manager as they have now.I think it was something that David Hemsley tried out but I dont think it was financialy viable and the experiment wasn't repeated.

  43. I thought the track was the best it's been so far this season,, it offered options,,so we'll done to the track crew. As for the meeting,, an exciting end. We looked like a team 2 points under limit. That was a weakened Panthers team without their number 1 and a below par Hans and with a reserve that was never likely to score,,, and we bumbled our way through it. We missed Ben massively.

  44. Is Jake Mulford racing in the same meeting? See he races for the colts and is missing tonight (according to Berwick website). Hope for his r/r rides they only get 75% of his average. If you add the 2 premiership guest bookings in arnieg then that would be 12 guest bookings.

  46. 2 rides for the fifth rider in the averages and 2 rides for No. 7.. No 7 missing then two rides for No 6 and two for No 8... Many a guestfest could be prevented with a proper fit for purpose RR facility...

  47. The way I see it is the weather hasn't been detrimental to the building work, the so called modular buildings are in situ, so sounds more like more stalling by GI, with a statement coming soon it will be too late to race in 2023. Unfortunately I can see Swindon going the same way as Reading and Coventry.
