It's not so much the wait between fixtures, although it goes without saying this is frustrating. A 6 team league has absolutely no appeal. Ride all year just to avoid 5th or 6th place. A League title has so little meaning or sense of achievement. Needs to change and quickly as this is probably the biggest factor threatening my commitment. Anyone else feel the same?11 points

I for one appreciate anyone who does the updates they do a great service for anyone wanting to keep up with the scores. With me being 50+ years old i can remember waitng up until late hoping the final scores would appear on ceefax/teletext,or having to ring the speedway hotline which would cost you a fortune. Now you can see the scores race by race with comments for free and we get people like you criticising and making terrible remarks like that. Keep up the good texting all you texters9 points

I'm pretty sure with the talent on this forum, within the next 24 hrs we could have it 100% confirmed by someone's best mates brothers uncle, who knows a man who knows stuff, That Aaron only signed for Oxford because he was being given 12 bikes 23 engines, a penthouse flat in Mayfair, and a couple of Ferraris. It's really the only conclusion you can draw.8 points

Bit rude that! I liked his updates and appreciate someone taking the time to bring them to us.6 points

Although I'm not in the loop anymore what you say may have been the case last season but I doubt that's the case this year... from the riders I speak to and not just those at the club... they get paid... and on time... the fear factor with them is that if they don't get paid for a period (which could happen) and then the club goes pop and because quite a few have been in that predicament in the past with other clubs folding its disastrous for them... and they dont want to take the risk... Over the past few years the club's reputation with riders has been trashed and Grant inherited that... Plymouth were in the same boat a few years back but they have shaken that off now... Grant needs to do the same and build the confidence with the riders so the club becomes a team that riders actually want to come to and ride for... It can be done but I'm not sure Grant has the cash or the people skills to pull it round... hope I'm proved wrong and he can get things on an even keel but it will take some doing...and may need a change of tac with different personnel and management skills being deployed... Here's hoping... Regards THJ5 points

Personally I wouldn't have any sympathy for clubs paying out such sums, plus also getting low crowds when 'cannon fodder' visits.... As it was 'bleeding obvious' from the outset what would happen given the imbalance in the team strengths from top to bottom in Div 2.. Yet. They ploughed on regardless... The Haves and The Have Nots.... A quite amazing plan of action which has reached its inevitable only conclusion..... And would have been even worse if some clubs hadn't got No1 riders injured meaning they would have had to run without guests which have often strengthened them... Must be a better way of running things surely? With no promotion or relegation, nor any major prize on offer, you would think that the No1 objective would be to ensure that every team, and therefore every meeting, would be competitive wouldn't you? Allowing such disparate levels of capability ultimately does no business's any good.. And they all need each other....4 points

Something had to be done. There was no guarantee when Ty Proctor would return and another fall could see him out for a prolonged period. Guest reserves wasn’t much of an option. Kyle Bickley was a victim of the numbers game. To fit the Dane in someone had to go4 points

The club need a public face, someone who can engage in all aspect of the club. As I have said before, the club lacks leaders and unless this is rectified very quickly I can sadly only see one outcome. We have just been thrashed at home for the second consecutive meeting and we still have had no comment from the promotion. This isn’t just a speedway thing, it’s key to any successful business that you keep you customers on side. The silence just adds to the frustration of the fans and will only add to the huge gulf that is being forged between the promotion and the fan base. Sadly, I can only see the current status quo for the remainder of the season.4 points

Jack Smith has been riding professionally since 2015, this is his 8th season and honestly he's gone backwards since he left Birmingham's national league side many years ago. He's not going to be any better in a few weeks than he was on Sunday, none of his previous visits to Brough show otherwise either, he was a very strange signing...4 points

I suppose the best thing about this new regulation is that it'll be all over the national news, and for the next Premiership matches there'll be 10,000 in attendance, hoping for a draw4 points
-
But how is it more exciting than heat 15? Going into heat 15 both teams could win or there could be a draw!4 points
-
Presumably that's what Oxford have offered? So if that's the going rate then that's what you have to pay. I admit for a rider that is way past his best it seems a lot of money but what else can you do if you're serious about strengthening the team in a world where there are few other realistic opportunities. Mind, no wonder the sport is going down the pan if bog standard riders are on that sort of money.4 points

Ffs you'd think Berwick signed woffinden and bewley way that lad going on. Tin foil hat must've come lose3 points

Not got anything to do with confidence as he wants to ride championship he was just dropped and that’s from the man himself. Berwick saying it’s to help him gain confidence is a nice way of saying you’ve not been very good so we’re dropping you.3 points

It was a six team league that killed the National league in the early sixties, and paved the way for an amalgamation with the Provincial league in 1965 to form the British league, which brought about a golden era in British speedway. As I see it,the only way to save speedway in Britain is for the same to happen again. Some will say there are not enough quality riders for one league, but many of the Provincial league riders were hardly household names, yet many developed into top riders.I know that in the sixties and seventies, most riders had other jobs, but maybe that's the way it will have to be again.3 points

Lets be honest, Bickley is not improving, another rider who thinks he is better than he is!3 points

Jack Smith “ a good stable” .It means he has all the right gear ,unfortunately can’t use it.3 points

The said '3' clubs are obviously in a more financial advantageous position than B'ham ..... I do think that any Berwick fan should've got a FULL refund.... Afterall, if we can give half price admission to Cov/Cradley/Wolves and any away fan with a season ticket, then it would've made sense to reimburse Berwick fans.3 points

Not in league matches they Don't.Complete balls up imo.I thought the last few years they had got the points system spot on.Rewarding the away team for getting close to the home team or getting a draw or win.Now they have turned a good system into a poor one rewarding(possibly)the home team for getting a draw. I see many Peterborough fans seem to like it,maybe when the tables are turned they may change their minds. Many neutrals I would say are against it.3 points
-
But the draw was drama and excitement. Why should either team get another chance? A draw is a result.3 points
-
I'm with you on that Mimmo,Sheffield lose a point on gaining a draw away from home and Peterborough gain 2pts for a home draw.Crazy idea that one imo.3 points
-
I'm pleased Peterborough have won, but think this Superheat is a crazy idea. Might as well have a penalty shoot out after every drawn football match.3 points

I have to say, I’m loving your style of presenting. Always looks like you’re having plenty of fun and a very relaxed nice style of interviewing. Not the same old cliche questions you hear all the time. Keep doing what what you're doing mate. Keep your own style and don’t change.3 points

Obviously I can only comment on belle vues fixtures but I should imagine it will be the same for all clubs. Well it will be. We have yet again having to wait 3 weeks for our next home match. we have already had a previous 3 week wait and X2 2 week breaks. for some less is better. For others less is not. Myself prefers regularl fixtures. It’s so easy to stop going after a few weeks break when you have not missed it. man’s when you return it’s the same team you faces 3 matches ago. we kind of accepted the 6 team league last year thinking it was a one off. But not now. It’s unacceptable to have 6 teams and this can’t carry on next year. if no clubs are willing to move up then they need 1 league or shortens the season by starting late April/early may and cutting the season short.2 points

How many of us will reach our death beds regretting our wasted hours at the speedway watching mostly track grading? I honestly think back now and feel it was only out of habit I attended for so long. Still love the sport, and its history, but can't be bothered with the modern stuff. It ain't the speedway I fell for. Most on here saying they've stopped attending and don't miss it, are merely echoing what I've been saying for yonks. I was only warning back then the sport needed a big shakeup. Look what level it's down to now.2 points

We can't get rid of doubling up/down, neither now nor in the future. The riders wouldn't stand for it, and they are the people who effectively control British Speedway. Allowing riders to ride for more than one team has been the most damaging so-called rule that the BSPA have come up with. The BSPL could easily introduce a rule limiting it to two double uppers per team, then reduce it to one per team a year later, and thenscrap it altogether - but they won't. Like I say, the riders just wouldn't wear it. How I detest this nonsensical rule.2 points
-
It was and the phrasing did suggest the option for a return in future. What ever the behind the scenes discussions really were there was at least an attempt by Berwick to make the public statement a bit more dignified & supportive.2 points

Yes, in the1960's, 70's and 80's, every race featured multiple overtakes on every single bend in every single meeting.2 points

Much nicer way of dropping a rider than Sheffield, who pointed out Nielsen's failings!2 points

Don't think it would be a bad thing if he was to go to Edinburgh for the remainder of the season. His home tracks have usually been biggies Belle Vue, Workington, Glasgow & Berwick so maybe something more technical would improve him who knows. I thought personally he would kick on this season, as compared to some seasons he had his team place sorted before Xmas and just a case of getting everything sorted for 2022. He is still only 20 just seems to have been around a while.2 points
-
I thought he was very good.Sounded like someone who enjoyed his night at the speedway.2 points

I'd say that would be the maximum! Realistically who is it going to be? Won't be Poole. Oxford possibly as they wanted to be in the Prem this year. Also have to look at Leicester and Glasgow. Leicester a good possibility but then are they going to want to move away from Saturday's to a Monday or Thursday? Same with Glasgow and Friday's? Race nights do seem to be massive stumbling block.2 points

Think Diamonds fans are looking for something that isn't there with Paul. He is genuinely out injured as he isn't riding for Ipswich either so he isn't earning Easy to forget he suffered two badly broken wrists just two seasons ago which have obviously been weakened.2 points

And this is why when Matt Ford asked the fans what league to be in I didn't say this one. I remember one season seeing Swindon at Poole 4 times!! So at the moment if I wanna see Berwick at Poole for example you have to go otherwise they might not be back down again. Whereas if you wanna see say Sheffield at BV you'll have a few to pick from!2 points

That's a terrifying thought to 90% of speedway fans. Most of them are still peed off that Barry Briggs has retired and they've stopped selling dandelion and burdock.2 points

You live in Berwick? You saw the downpour minutes prior to start time!? It wasn’t cheating at all… you can ask why Redcar called off 2 fixtures for the same reason?? Was that cheating??2 points
-
Don’t let fact it pissed down at 6.55pm on Saturday, 5 minutes before the scheduled start time, saving many Redcar fans a wasted journey, cloud your judgement2 points

To make it more realistic, you should add +4 to every team still to go to Newcastle!2 points

He has bought a pretty new FGM engine and seems to be working well he used it last week at home but he never used it at scunny as it was far too strong for the slick track there but used it yesterday and tonight so hopefully he can go on a run of good scores now2 points

Well done Monarchs From the website: "Although an abandonment after the completion of any racing would usually trigger British Speedway's readmission top-up policy, the Club has opted to allow the reuse of tickets at no additional cost."2 points

Just had a quick scroll through this thread and noticed that there's no comment from Poole's No.1 loyal fan (Turnip) whom previously announced that he supports Poole because they win trophies ? I wonder if he'll be seen at Beaumont Park on a Saturday evening from now on ....1 point
