basso was meant to be in 15 with tom but had severe arm pump with the rough track and was struggling to hold on for his last few laps in ht 14 they tried to massage his fore arms and wrists but they were solid and his fingers were locked danyon was confident and asked for it and had been riding well all night and there we have it5 points

So I’m going to bite to this post even though I would normally avoid doing so given it is obviously aimed at goading Newcastle fans. So as a huge Newcastle fan and someone who had in the past worked for the club for a number of years, I have to say that Redcar at this point are a million miles away from our club, whether this is in terms of team, track, product or simply the way the clubs philology is at this present time. Even as a lifelong Newcastle fan I must say that it was men against boys today. I watch this Newcastle side and not one of them really covered themselves in glory tonight. I have to say a HUGE thank you to Kyle Howarth who has been a breath of fresh air in our side these last few weeks but the team is obviously not up to the standard we need. In terms of the owners comments about the 100% change in personnel before our next meeting then I will hold judgement. I hope the owner has the ambition to improve the side before the next meeting which is being beamed live on the BSN. I hope Robs views are based on improving a side which has so obviously been way under the level that is needed to compete, but let’s see how things improve and whether we have an ownership that is looking to drive this club forward. If we want a speedway club in Newcastle then we need a team that try’s, not a side that waves the white flag after a couple of races. This is the first time I can say I have been ashamed of the performance of a Diamonds side in all my years of watching them. This team is not strong enough but tonight was just not good enough, on a track which has been better than it had been for quite a long time. What an absolute shambles4 points

That's not for me to say. But the argument fed up hearing it's the leagues fault Newcastle built a cheap team that was never going to be competitive4 points
-
I’m not going to post my exact thoughts because I’ll probably be thrown off BSF but REALLY......... drive all the way from East Lothian to Glasgow to watch 3 of MY team and who-ever else we can find to make up the numbers??? This isn’t a shoot in the foot job - it’s blow the entire leg off with a double barrel shotgun4 points

as long as the track is there fans would be ok with some shelter - doesn't need to be the palace it was a la Redcar, Somerset, Scunny, Worky, etc4 points

Going by your previous sh*te followed by more sh*te then a final footnote of well Sh*te. I know it’s difficult but once you accept you are an idiot then being ridiculed becomes less stressful and your attempt at being a smart-arse less important.4 points

The obvious thing would have been to change it to a date they were available, common sense is lacking.3 points

Very true. No right minded speedway fan would want to see any side go to the wall. I’ve lost my side, it’s a horrible feeling2 points

both teams and Plymouth have struggled because there weren't enough riders of the required calibre. Frankly I believe Plymouth and Newcastle have pulled a flanker by signing blokes who were never going to stick around so they could hire riders weekly. TBH I coudn't blame them, you can't just pull heat leaders out of your ar*e. Name someone who Newcastle or Plymouth could sign.2 points

If the Panthers do win 50-40 tomorrow. The next time your team is in town i'll pay for you to get in, buy you a pint/ Pkt Haribos ( delete as necessary) On production of your ID.2 points

I thought the track was excellent. Deep but consistent. With it being deep it took a little maintaining but a huge improvement. On the flip side though any home advantage is now lost but hopefully riders who perhaps wouldn’t have wanted to come to Newcastle in the past will now give it a go.2 points

Newcastle chose this team, unlike Birmingham who had to cobble together from the scrapheap. The points limit or state of the league is not to blame for that2 points

Thought about going but even as a Bears fan I’m glad I didn’t. Pleased to get the 4 points and see the young lads scoring so well but can’t take much pleasure seeing a team (even your local rivals) struggle from one disaster to another.2 points

Suppose this what happens now got a fair track to race on. Sad to see, home hammerings no good for anyone2 points

Looks just as good there as it did on the night, incredible ride by Josh. The cheer was audible on the video when he swept past Ostergaard, haven't heard a roar like that at Lynn for years!2 points

Older riders take longer to warm up, we're nearly in June and the Panthers boys have shaken off the rust. Lynn 40-50 Panthers2 points

Hi Gr8scot, I can confirm that both meetings from Plymouth and Poole are being Live Streamed. Here is the info and direct links for both streams. GLADIATORS TV : https://www.gladiatorslive.com : £11.99 : The stream starts at approx. 6:45pm. PIRATES TV : https://livestream.poole-speedway.com : £11.99 : The stream starts at approx. 7:15pm. And as always guys, whilst the clubs work hard to bring you the best possible streaming experience, nothing beats being in the stadium in person if you are able. Enjoy2 points

Both! Run pretty much by the same people, though different presenters. Have watched both more then once and not any problems with picture going or freezing/buffering etc.2 points

We'll get gubbed on Friday and the tie will already be over. However, this is truly taking the proverbial and cheating the public.2 points

No paul? Be a big miss if he isnt riding. Hes been doing very well at home.2 points

Yes but others need to step up to challenge all teams have injuries it how you cope with them. Two home defeats on the trot and another hard one next week let's hope Bomber and Leon get better support.2 points

The fact that you honestly believe that anyone in the GP line up other than Tai has better throttle control than Zmarzlik is laughable. The track last night wasn't what I would call rough exactly, it was just crap and you couldn't t land a pass. How is having 3 of 10, 11 or 12 rounds having the majority of rounds in Poland? It means there are more rounds not in Poland. Having a round at Wroclaw doesn't help Zmarzlik. He rides there twice a year and two of his principal rivals (3 last year) practice there every day. Missing the Cardiff round the last two years has hindered Zmarzlik as well. He's ridden there 4 times and been in the final every time. Very odd the way some people don't rate Zmarzlik.2 points

Thanks Tony. Yes, on the face of it, every word above is true. I am a sucker for sport nostalgia and former sportsmen and women who can be a bit, let's say franker, with their opinions when their career is long gone. But I think there's an elephant in the room in this instance. And it comes down to this... Are the thoughts and opinions of PC consistent with those held prior to his brain haemorrhage or not? And if there is any doubt and his clarity of thought is not what it should be, then I (as a fan) would be uncomfortable in things going into print as a permanent reminder of a guy who is the nearest the sport has to a national treasure. Oddly enough, this time next week, I'll actually be at Slaski Stadium, scene of PC's greatest triumph. I will take a moment or two to figure out where he passed Simmo and where he was chaired by fellow riders after a comprehensive and conclusive win. I - like most 70s/80s fans - hold hugely fond memories of him as one of the most spectacular and brilliant riders in the sport we all love. I hope that continues to be the over-riding feeling most of us retain long into the future.2 points

Another source more reliable that our own club communications!. I find out more about our side from other teams social media than from our own. Real shame about Paul as he has been in some great form around Brough lately. We desperately need the other top 4 to be on form or we could struggle to cope with a very solid Redcar side:2 points

Yes you are correct I should've put Craig Cook, as No1 and best rider he should've put himself forward as a pick for Ht15. Clearly he had not the best of nights, maybe he was still in shock having had Kyle Bickley blast past him.2 points

I think the Leicester faithful just feel a bit let down by Anders behaviour. He was cast as the "next great thing" and people are right, he looks like he couldn't care less. If he doesn't want to ride for Leicester, be it because of his Polish connections, or because they ride on Saturday, please, just be honest. Having just read the GP thread, Anders perhaps needs to consider the future a bit more. Serving his time on a variety of British circuits might just stand him in good stead in time.2 points

with having the worst 2 gates for ht 15 we were up against it right away no matter who we had in so both tom ben and danyon had been making pretty good gates if you had asked fans for a win before it started they would have been happy but most are being greedy now2 points
-
Surely this needs to be rescheduled. It’s not like we’re at the point of needing to squeeze fixtures in.2 points

Actually thinking about this and reading back through the comments, including some of my own, I hope Danyon isn't reading this topic. The young guy did well and contributed massively to Glasgow's win. Being selected for ht 15 would have been a confidence builder for him yet any good that came of that has probably been cancelled out. So if you are reading this Danyon, thank you and onwards and upwards.2 points

You would thinkGlasgow lost !!.It’s been explained. Why should the Captain step forward when he has had a poor evening( by his standard). He done what was best for the Team surely.2 points

Once the track had been sorted out and settled down the second half of the meeting was better than the first with Glasgow much sharper from the tapes throughout and they deserved their win. Delighted to see Kyle Bickley looking much better in his later rides than in his first to where he looked all at sea, and good to see Flint back to form after his time out. And then there`s the 5-1 draw ££££££££££2 points

Not sure I understand that comment, if it's the top 15 riders in the world, someone has to finish last. Doesn't mean that rider isn't world class!2 points

For tomorrow's meeting Josh Pickering should be at No 1 for Kings Lynn1 point

Maybe they think that they will be far enough ahead meaning the 2nd leg is a mere formality. can’t believe I just wrote that. But it is possible.1 point

Yeah, there were problems with the Leicester track earlier in the season. And the week directly after the blade was brought in, there were problems with large lumps of clay being thrown at the riders who didn't gate. But, fair play, to Leicester, because that was the best racing I've seen at the track last night, so that work with the blade, after they got Andy Meredith in, has ultimately paid off. Personally, I'm now much more likely to pop along later in the season when I've got a spare Saturday or two.1 point

Well you're a pleasant individual. R&R makes a good point but I'm not convinced that's all its about. Got to be more to it.1 point

Only two fifths of the field can qualify for the next year automatically so I guess the other three fifths aren't good enough either. Probably better to see where Lambert ends up at the end of the season rather than pick him apart after every round. I'd say he's probably exceeded Harris already by scoring double figures pretty much every week in the Polish Extraliga. As for the speedway, absolute dross. High time the GP series was raced on the best tracks rather than being picked by venues, the series is becoming stale. I used to never miss a race in a whole season but couldn't care less sometimes nowadays if I watch a round or not.1 point

Absolutely gutting, as much as the facilities aren’t great was still our home for 26 years and where we have had our best moments as a club and successful moments too. completely understand the owners situation and they have been great owners at that as they were great for the speedway. Gutted for the club as they’ve done so much for the youngsters in the last year or so with the speedway academy and mini track being built, to entering a team in the NDL again and this year putting two teams in to the NJL. Hopefully we can find something soon that we can continue to do all these good things. Think being at the tapes come 2023 could be struggle but we can always hope.1 point
