Jeez ,let's flog a call off to death. 1) Crappy weather forecast for evening. 2) Power supply issues. 3 Hole in road is just off the public highway B1430, some 200yds from the EWR . The EWR can be seen in the background of the Twitter photo, but the land in between is private land which Rob has no influence of. Clearly contractors doing repairs with their tape and fencing around hole. Google maps is useful. 4) Some people just want to make waves for Rob Godfrey. I cannot see many promotors wanting to take up the poisoned chalice of Chairman/Chairwoman post. 5) Some people you just cannot help, even when you give valid info. 6) Track had from 10.15pm until the following morning to dry out for the next meeting. 7 R.G runs the country, Boris and Rishi are doing a good job, the illegals crossing the Channel are welcome, inflation is a blip and Putin is misunderstood!!!5 points

Interesting Topic, I have been collecting speedway memorabilia from when I first use to go on a Friday night 1968 at Wolves. I have speedway bikes, penants, rosettes, big collection of photos, race jackets, and over 40,000 programmes, possibily my rarest programme is my Northampton4 points

Nope, totally fake as i saw rob with his spade dig that hole,,to be honest this is not about calling the meeting off, its more of a chance to have a pop at Rob and Scunny,,, why does it matter to someone in ipswich, lakeside, leciester,?3 points

I love a good conspiracy theory... is that a man wearing a badge hiding behind the grassy knoll? It does look remarkably dry in the photo though3 points

I think the fans will support it well enough. My concern is more weather the riders will support it as I would think the pay will be based on BSPA pay scales & not the riders contract agreements. I will wait & see for the future rounds.3 points

It was called off at lunchtime. It was posted on various media. If folks don’t check before they set off/on there way then tough. Does the promotion have to ring everyone up that ‘might’ be on their way?2 points

Hopefully he gets a similar score next Friday in our KOC meeting. Great to see Ben Morley racing in the same meeting after his crash last night.2 points

Because there is life outside of Scunthorpe... this was due to be on BSN, which is probably why it's had more interest2 points

Possibly not worth him travelling back from Europe for one ride to then head to Poland again for Tuesday's meeting2 points

My entire collection of Wembley Lions home programmes which is complete from 1929 to 1939, 1946 to 1956 and finally 1970/71. My favourite is probably the first one dated 16 May 1929!2 points

Don’t know why they didn’t call it off after the heavy shower as most people around me ( and myself) said it was going to be abandoned. Unless it was to give the juniors a chance after waiting patiently I and others couldn’t understand why they wanted to run heat 15 as Redcar had the 3 points and it was only Edinburgh who should lose out if they conceded a 4-2 or a 5-1.. How would Redcar fans of felt if Lewis Kerr or Erik Riss been injured in the re run?1 point

Well said,,, a suppose its ok to show a bit of sympathy for the folk that unfortunately travelled to the gig. Maybe they might just consider checking first in future and can just put it down to experience? I believe Boris was correct when he said, 'it's about taking personal responsibility',,, can't say I believe too much else about what that lot from down there say tho.1 point

Where did you watch the racing from because that crash took place just in front of me & there was no contact between Ward & Warren . It was a pure racing incident where Warren & Foord collided & all 3 was a fair call. Could equally say if Warren had not locked up infront of Ward in the re-run they wouldn’t have had the 2nd crash. These guys are in experienced & need the track time so they will make mistakes .1 point

Yes, that is correct. It was suspended after Farndon's fatal crash because he was the reigning Match Race Champion at the time and, over the last couple of years, had remained unbeaten. He had made the British Match Race Championship his own. It had become so much associated with him that, as a mark of respect, the competition was abandoned to perpetuate Tom’s name as the undefeated holder of the trophy.1 point

If this meeting can get anywhere close to the excitement provided (for a tenner!) at the last NDL match at Berwick, it'll be well-worth watching. Plus, the NJL follow-up has interest, with Stene Pijper adding to the family adventures on the Berwick side, and Redcar's Katie Gordon showing that girls just wanna have fun, too!1 point

An eventful evening at sunny Armadale. Dust in heat one. Who'd have thunk it? Schoolboy error watering immediately before heat 2, although we'll never know if it contributed to the crash. Speedy recovery to young Sarj. I doubt he'll be changing many nappies for a while. Two blips on the Masters scorechart. Firstly at the 10th, when Erik Riss blew him a kiss and left him trailing. Then on the final hole, there was another episode of Sleepy Sam, when Lewis Kerr was allowed to go right round him. Overall acceptable, but still room for improvement there. Much better from the others though. The Italian plumber certainly had the hot tap turned on last night. The switch to number 4 appeared to have worked wonders. Leaving without a point may well have been hard to Bear for the visitors but, ultimately, they only have themselves to blame by getting their Wright guest wrong. And what has happened to Kasper Andersen? He was dreadful. Finishing on a positive, special mention to Ben Morley who has always a competent performer on smaller circuits, without ever looking spectacular. Well done. Roll on Friday. Brum Brum and all that...1 point

I think in this day and age not checking the local weather forecast and the respective clubs website before leaving for a speedway meeting when travelling a distance is somewhat reckless and a chance that just isn’t worth taking. Clubs who call meetings off on bad forecasts invariably do it to save everyone’s time and money including them on rent, expenses, riders officials etc and it works. Not often I agree with a Scunthorpes press officer but I do on this occasion.1 point

Maybe the offer for the land was too good an opportunity to turn down regardless of the loss of income through covid etc..Big shame as Somerset was a great track and produced some very good racing.1 point

Those line ups will make a more exciting meeting than most championship ones I imagine. Anyone who hasn't tried it needs to give it a go. Unfortunately I live near the south coast and too far, but brings back memories of some great competitive meetings when Eastbourne were in the NL.1 point
