There’s a lot of crap on this thread ( I even looked back to when his signing was announced and there was “oooh he’ll be on £1500 a match “ and “well apparently he was on 2k a match last year at Sunny”. It just goes to prove that the rumour mill grinds on every year with a lot of people not having a clue on the subject they’re talking about, then others repeat it just to stir shït up. same old same old.7 points

I don't hold Adam at fault here. He's done his deal, obviously his PL Club and Overseas Clubs were aware of that deal. He's undoubtedly been told not to comment on his Brummies deal by our Management. He's negotiated a deal with someone, it's been approved by the Club Directors and if some rumours are true Brummies outbid Plymouth. The fault lies elsewhere and not Adam in my opinion.6 points

If a Club can't afford him, then a agrement can't be reached. But to say holding the club to ransam is unfair6 points

It is amazing that the TV matches dont have any seperate focus from the promoters isnt it? Guess what. Breaking news. Whisper this. Spoiler alert for any Promoters reading this.. "Unless its the play offs. Your crowd will be a lot less for a TV match than a non TV match, and it will do you no favours when it comes to showcasing your sport to potential future Speedway fans"... I presume the above must be "earth shattering" to read and some will he amazed at my "Poirot like" mystical powers of deduction, but it will invariably be true, given it is based on decades of TV coverage, and hundreds of TV matches.. And when you add in a "poor meeting", with strung out races and little passing (which let's be honest most meetings have more of than close exciting racing with lots of paasing), then anyone watching will put two and two together and decide "no wonder nobody goes", and wont ever bother trying it for themselves... Last night was an example where the scoreboard would have kept things interesting if a large noisy crowd had been in attendance, adding atmosphere to the occasion.. And if the promoters say that they couldn't afford to drop prices for the TV matches then they must rather have someone NOT there, and NOT paying them ANY money at all, than someone actually BEING THERE, GIVING THEM MONEY, say a Tenner, and adding atmosphere to the occasion, improving the overall positive experience of the visit, and making it look to the wider outside sporting world that have tuned in, that the sport is popular and that they could just be missing out on something.. A "strange" and quite "unique" business plan to have a two hour advert on TV, and make your product look so poorly purchased.. ....6 points

There are a lot of things not good with GB speedway @ the moment the lack of available riders being the major problem. But please all Birmingham fans be thankful that due to your current owners you still have speedway, unlike Exeter, Somerset, Swindon, Reading, Wimbledon, Arena Essex, Stoke, Workington, Hull, Cradley, Bradford, Halifax, Weymouth, Hackney & others I've missed!5 points

As Well as Sedgmen think Young James Pearson deserves a lot of credit cracking score tonight. Long may it continue well done Brummies.4 points

I get that, but loyalty wears thin when the team isn't quite as attractive as you first thought or were lead to believe. Speedway isn't a charity and times are bloody hard for a lot of people. And times for the club have just been made even harder.4 points

I have the same low opinion of Brandon Estates (Coventry stadium) and Galliard Homes (Wimbledon stadium) but would be banned from this site if I was to put that opinion in print. May the people who run both companies rot in hell is as far as I can go.3 points

In these difficult times where money is hard to find to even warm the house, Birmingham do this, the club will probably cease to exist beyond the end of June, the fans have been lied to about Ellis and then say Adam knew the arrangement before he left well the fans were not told this, very amateur from the club, people will not trust anything from the Perry Barr promotion ever again. Brummies should be one of the top clubs in the country based on history, location etc but are just a laughing stock, LR is an experienced speedway man and is letting the brummie fans down time and time again, poor decision making and weak signings2 points

Phil, isn’t it about time you realised tracks can be sorted out? You know, because you read the Poole threads, that Terry (Trackerman on here) has sorted the track out as it’s like a billiard table now with lots of new shale on the track. No need to continue to make yourself look silly by still claiming there’s an issue with the track, because that’s clearly not the case. In fact Steve Worrall last week said it rode the best it ever has in his opinion. So perhaps you could stop being negative, go into the track shop, buy a Poole jacket, stand on the first bend, and shout out , “I am not worthy, I am not worthy!”, whist whipping yourself with a branch off the birch tree up the road. Then perhaps we will forgive your lunatic posts. All the best, Steve2 points

The riders and several extra people lined up there to be able to have a minutes silence for Chris Ellis who died on Sunday, before the meeting whilst the adverts were on. Batch definitely struggling, however Danny was having treatment on his injured wrist, so apart from Jason and Danyon, sadly batch was the only realistic option.2 points

Didn’t Swindon once drop the price to £10 once for a televised match? If I recall it may even have been free entry for kids. The increased crowd looked great on tv and I think the gate money was around the same as for a usual meeting. In the current climate, free entry for kids has to be the way to go. How many families can’t afford a night out as a group because of childrens entry costs ?2 points

Think it was only a 28 day contract he signed and that’s probably the reason the BSPL took so long to ratify the signing as it was obvious it was to achieve a facility once the contract ended. a cynical way to treat the fans. Honestly is always the best policy. I remember at mildenhall when they signed Kaj laukkenan on a similar deal I asked the question at the after meeting forum to the then promoter who lied and said he was here all season. Two months later kaj left the club. that promoter was Laurence Rogers2 points

Then I must be breaking the law. I run a small business and having paid to register my business with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico) I can hold such information about my customers.2 points

It wasn't to bad a meeting considering the weather, the Aces definitely missed Jye and Matej. I predicted 49-41 before the start so not too far away, was a good fight back by KL and they deserved the point.2 points

I'd have gone Danny in 15. He's as likely to find a start or pass a rider than Troy is. Bachelor couldn't have been any nicer to Bomber in 13.2 points

Can we really wonder why fans stay away on tv nights ? Travel costs and admission - then all we hear daily on the media cost of living crisis so if fans have access to Eurosport can any really wonder why fans stay at home and watch2 points

Well watching it on catch-up and skimming all but the races I wasn't sure which riders were who Riss & Barker and the camera operators don't help, but Witches needed a 5-1 - King hadn't had a good night but was only option to partner Doyle.2 points

It's so pointless making heat 8 a protected heat, unless number 7 has to be your weakest rider & not be allowed to be replaced as it is in the Prem (where the rule works). Best example is Scunny vs Plymouth: Palin & Lambert would get a protected heat 8 against Bowtell & Morley, but the far weaker Kingsley races against Barker & Palm Toft, which isn't a protected heat!2 points

Scored 10 to help us beat you last week. Batch was signed as a 5 pointer, he’s far from a problem.2 points

The comparison I keep making in my head is Plymouth in 2020/21. Seemed to be honest with the fans, had to scrape team together at last minute but kept the fans on side. Reaping benefit now2 points

Just enjoy the racing and accept that at this level it’s more about rider development than the result.2 points

Ipswich threw that meeting away last night with bad riding (no team riding) & a bit of bad luck. Batchelor simply was not fit enough with his back injury he got last week. He could hardly walk when he got off of his bike after every race, so why was he put in heat 15, even thou there wasn't a lot to choose from. Danny really needs to sort his bikes out, he just looks so slow and keeps trying the outside line and goes backwards. Starkey was a big miss last night. Sheffield pulled a fast one with Harris replacing Holder, who everyone knows doesn't get on with the Ipswich track. Think he has missed more meetings at Ipswich than he has ridden in. Steady just laughed when on the parade lap when told he pulled a fast one and bring Holder with him next time.1 point

I don't think Ellis is completely blameless, he must take his share of the blame, pleading ignorance every time something like this happens or going silent is no defence. He must have known he was being "sold" to the fans as a season long signing. Quotes were being attributed to him in the media urging fans to get along and back the promotion earlier in the season... but as usual silence from Ellis... just his dad coming on here again with nothing meaningful to contribute. To Ellis and the promotion it's a business... to the fans it's a passion and they deserve an explanation, it turns out that this rumour was true.1 point

Ellis isn't to blame by the way. He informed the promotion about how he could only do a certain amount of meeting like the ITK's said a few days ago. All down to Rodgers lying in a successful penny pinching attempt.1 point
