  2. That should've been made clear to the fans at the start of the season. Pretty poor imo

  3. The comparison I keep making in my head is Plymouth in 2020/21. Seemed to be honest with the fans, had to scrape team together at last minute but kept the fans on side. Reaping benefit now

  4. I can honestly say that the camerawork so far from Eurosport is the worst I've seen, missing what little action there is, don't know if it's down to where they are siting them, or whatever but it's painful to watch. It's just a bloody oval ffs, surely they can find a way to cover it properly.

  5. Ellis was never going to do a full season at brum,he won't serve a ban as he is not withholding his services, he's been replaced.

  6. Ellis isn't to blame by the way. He informed the promotion about how he could only do a certain amount of meeting like the ITK's said a few days ago. All down to Rodgers lying in a successful penny pinching attempt.

  7. I know I like to have a bit of banter on here with fans of other clubs with a troll post or two but I'm honestly being serious here. I genuinely feel for any Brummies fan that has brought a season ticket thinking they were going to see a competitive side every week only for Rodgers to know full well Ellis was only in for the first few fixtures. You've been turned over at a time where the cost of living has become a joke to put it bluntly with the Ownership at Birmingham Speedway showing no remorse for the pre planned stunt they always intended to pull. On top of that you're being drip fed lie after lie to a point where it's like reading a statement written by Boris Johnson. Laurence Rodgers hang your head in shame and no doubt those who didn't purchase a season ticket will now walk away after the latest fiasco.

  8. http://www.birmingham-speedway.com/_mobile/news.php?extend.3158 Birmingham just don`t get it, when you make a team change you are meant to make your team stronger.

  9. I would imagine all the Brummies management knew about this arrangement, so why is Rogers getting all the grief ?

  10. Congratulations Newcastle, after those crazy guys at Birmingham decided to make a team change there`s every possibility you won`t finish bottom Happy Monday everybody.

  11. Compost Corner was a feature on Tiswas . There was a bunch of us who followed the Witches home and away late 70s, early 80s - and many different names and nicknames were used for riders and teams. KL were called the Deadbeets (after the sugar beet factory behind the first/second bend was demolished). Those of us who watched speedway then saw the last heyday of the sport.

  12. Honesty costs zero, the brum fans would have been annoyed at having a lesser team but would have been more accepting of the reasoning. The way it's been handled would boil my piss if I were a brum fan

  16. And fans have put a lot of hard earned money into season tickets and admissions etc only to find out they were duped into believing the British Champions was riding for them this season. Yes we all want speedway to continue at as many tracks as possible but also to be run honestly for honest fans

  17. Oh dear, The Brummies continue to shoot themselves in the foot one PR disaster after another, I hope the consortium have deep pockets because they are certainly going to need long arms if they continue in this vein, that 1000 per meeting has today got further away..

  18. Will people stop posting negative post on here about the Brummies we need positive post. The consortium have a put a lot of there hard earned money into Birmingham to keep us on track and have and still are working tirelessly to make it a success. We have had setback after setback to start this season but will keep battling on. They are coming up with some great initiatives to try to get people through the gates. We need positive post please

  19. An absolute disgrace from the Brum promotion if they knew Ellis wasn’t doing a full season. Feel for people who bought season tickets after he had signed.

  21. BRUMMIES MOVE FOR ELLIS THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 2022 BIRMINGHAM have pulled off the signing of reigning British Champion Adam Ellis. The 26-year-old, who won the National League with the club in 2015 and had a further spell at Perry Barr four years later has agreed to join the Brummies and completes their side for the coming season. The above is the statement release back in March when news of Ellis' signing was made. It clearly states "coming season" and nothing about being short term. Someone is being economical with the truth and you must wonder how many season tickets were purchased thing the current British Champion would be racing at Perry Barr every Wednesday? No wonder attendances are falling at numerous tracks

  27. In a nutshell if you have a changeable track you would like too think they would have the know how to do likewise with set up. if it’s not working don’t persist with it . anyway a week off from Speedway. Seville bound for a minor football match this week then im on to Tenerife on Friday. You heading over yourself ?.

  33. Yeah riders have been disciplined in the past for bringing the sport in to disrepute. Time to do something about this

  34. Totally agree. King's Lynn announced originally that NKI was only signed on a short term contract while Peter Kildeman was regaining fitness and although his stay has been extended I'm sure Stars' fan appreciated the honesty.

  35. Maybe he/she is still checking his/her fixture list... but don't worry, there are plenty of irons in the fire, even though getting the 4 partners together was the hardest winter's work ever.

  36. I'm struggling to get my head around this decision, I loathe to criticise any promotion but this smacks of desperation to complete the team on press day, then penny pinching after 2 home meetings. I don't think there's any blame whatsoever at Ellis door either. I'm sat here shaking my head in disbelief tbh, how this is going to attract fans is beyond me. There's genuinely good people at Birmingham but they do seem to be getting it wrong hand over fist atm which is a real shame.

  37. Did somebody say Ellis isn't in the wrong? Hasn't he posted his fixtures for May, which includes bham meetings?

  39. Sedgmen in for Ellis - statement now live :- BIRMINGHAM are back in action on Tuesday (May 17, 7.30) as they head to Championship newcomers Oxford - and there will be a new face in their side. Justin Sedgmen, who enjoyed a high scoring stint at Perry Barr in 2010, is back with the club with British Champion Adam Ellis unable to ride for the Curtis Sport Brummies for the foreseeable future. The consortium were always aware that this situation was a possibility, but were happy to take the risk to ensure a viable team for the start of the season. It was always understood that, should the situation arise, Adam would be released by Birmingham so that he would not be classified as 'withholding his services' which would unfairly impact him and his Premiership club Sheffield. The consortium agreed to review the matter at the end of April, as back in mid-March there was significant uncertainty due to the political situation in Eastern Europe. Adam has always been upfront with the club regarding his commitments moving forward into the summer. This does, however, mean that Birmingham are compelled to remove him from their team declaration and bring a new rider into their one-to-seven, as there would be no facility available for Adam in these circumstances. On this basis, the club have moved swiftly to sign Sedgmen to replace Ellis, whilst being able to retain a facility (guest or rider replacement) for the injured Josh Auty. Sedgmen is a popular figure at Perry Barr and he re-joins the club on loan with thanks to Glasgow for assisting in sorting his visa. Co-promoter Nigel Tolley said: “I want to express our thanks to Adam for his contribution to the club over the past few weeks, and for being willing to step in at such short notice - his signing only having been completed on the day of Press and Practice. “Adam has been a pleasure to deal with and he would be welcome back to the club at any time - and may indeed find himself being booked as a guest! “In the meantime we move forward with Justin, who went well in Australia over the winter and is hungry to kickstart his UK career and hopefully put himself in the frame for a doubling-up spot. “I also want to place on record our thanks to the Glasgow promotion for their assistance in completing the deal. “The Brummies are looking forward to making the trip to Oxford before taking on the Cheetahs at Perry Barr on Wednesday.” With Sedgmen in for Ellis, club bosses have also booked Speedway of Nations Gold medallist Tom Brennan to stand in for the injured Josh Auty on Tuesday. OXFORD: Scott Nicholls, Kyle Newman, Jack Thomas, Cameron Heeps, Troy Batchelor, Dillon Ruml, Nathan Stoneman.

  45. I think the answer to your question is, They have certainly not outgrown the National league. In the 2 National league standard meetings the twins have ridden in this season at other tracks ( both independent tracks ) Mildenhall & Kent, the twins have managed 4 race wins out of 19 races between them, both were beaten 5 times by home riders at Kent yesterday. So yes there is no doubt other riders will push them and in my opinion the National league is perfect for their continued progress in the the sport. Have to say some of the races the twins were in yesterday were fantastic and I really hope to see them back at Kent again this season.

  46. Rather than “ struggling badly. “ i would agree that they haven’t hit top form yet. However no team will walk the E Winner league this season it’s very competitive.

  47. And as Max Fricke said when interviewed on Saturday - the track was changing all night so he had to be able to read the change. Sounds like maybe other riders can't do that.
