  1. Jye Etheridge One option to move the track to the old kerb what about option two shut the place down Reply Cheers Jye very helpful If teams close we won’t need as many bang average Aussies over here. See ya!

  2. Didn’t Berwick have similar issues with the track last week ?. So what he is saying as I read it is he knows the track was sh*t but it was sh*t last week also and probably sh*t the week before , you would like too think if he knows it has been sh*t for weeks he would at least attempt to make it not sh*t in a nutshell.

  3. Nice of Jye whatsisname to comment though he is biased. To progress in speedway he needs all tracks to close except the 2 he can ride Belle Vue sometimes and Berwick.

  4. We are all grateful to texters (I've done it many times, it's not easy) but you can't have people making stuff up or texting what they think happened without being certain. If what was said about Cook was untrue I can't blame him for being annoyed.

  5. Why do folk continually have a go at the Glasgow Promotion because they have successful business? I'm fed up pointing out that the Facenna brother financially support other ventures, such as junior football (equivalent of English non-league) and do lots for the community and charities. Folk seem to forget the help they have given to injured riders from visiting teams and support to Team GB. Too many green eyed monsters with tunnel vision. Maybe the teams they follow would have more cash to splash if the total product offered was up to the standard offered at Ashfield.

  8. And a no-lose for the home team, who are guaranteed a point, but could get three - while the away team, after earning two points for a draw could end up with only one thanks to the stupid additional race

  9. Pathetic statement from Grant. If that’s the best he can do he wants to pack it in.Teams will be refusing to race just shortly if the situation remains the same.Even the Home Team can’t be happy IMO.He is clueless, needs to stick to flipping burgers.

  10. As one of the much maligned texters myself , got moaned at on Friday for not being quicker than Glasgow's twitter , I've learned you should pretty much just stick to reporting what you see happening over the 4 laps on the track .

  11. The teams embarrassing enough, without you starting to talk utter drivel as usual

  12. If a rut can be uncovered that easily by a foot think what a rear wheel at speed is going to do it. The consequences of the extra drive gained from hitting a solid concrete base could be disastrous on so many levels. It doesn't matter what team you support or at whatever track this occurred the simple truth is it was dangerous and the track was not fit for racing.

  14. So Newcastle Promotion have commented "Grant said: “We do have issues with drainage with the track, and also have issues with an old kerb from years ago coming through the surface from below. “We know that, but tonight (Sunday) was absolutely no worse than it had been over the last few weeks, so there was no need for any of this tonight." If they knew the kerb was coming through it was clearly an issue and the meeting should never have been run in the interests of safety. Rob Grant's butchering skills are showing through as he is obviously talking mince.

  15. In the Speedway Star a few weeks ago Craig mentioned about his struggles and stated 2 sides here, the texter is entitled to their opinion but in doing so can unknowingly antagonise mentioned person. Also previously knowing the history of the rider was it necessary or just trying to upset him? Other side is knowing his own fallibility should he be reading these posts? I have no idea what happened but reading the texts on updates it does lead everyone who isn't their. Hope Tom recovers quickly, most exciting British rider at the moment and if the track was so bad so early why oh why continue it for so long. Speedway does need Newcastle and every help from other clubs should be offered to facilitate a decent track. Another lost track means less riders jobs and chances that our sport will disappear to the annals of history.

  20. Taken from Facebook The Newcastle Speedway promotion, along with the sports authorities, have taken the decision to postpone our next home fixture on Sunday 22nd May against Scunthorpe. This is to allow for essential track work to be carried out. The promotion is working with BSP Limited and the Speedway Control Bureau to carry out this work. We will of course keep all of our supporters up to date with this work, and hope to have everything complete and approved in time for our next fixture against Redcar on Sunday 29th

  21. Cook is one of those riders who opposition fans hate, but home fans love. I’m not sure why he gets such abuse.

  22. The track is known for breaking up in the same area. Jonny Swales had the track in probably the best condition it could be but Granty's biggest mistake was letting Jonny go. Let's face it the track is your product. As far as last night goes we gave Glasgow the excuse to complain and they made the most of it as they realised they could have quite easily lost the meeting. I.m not particularly keen on them anyway as they have an arrogant attitude which comes from the big galoot of a team manager. Regardless though we need to desperately sort the track out as the natives are getting restless and i know of 2 people who won't be back to spend their hard earned cash.

  23. Thought I may aswell add my thoughts every f**** else is, firstly the track, yes the state of bends 1-2 going off that pic is unacceptable and needs sorting which we are lead to believe is going to happen, even a blind man can see that, speaking of visually impaired ppl, cami browns comments of only being one overtake all match, I think you must have had your head in the rules looking for ways of getting the match called off only after heat ten mind and while your leading Wright wethers howarth ostergaard all produced overtaking during the match. Which brings me onto the idiot who is jye etheridge comments about closing fellow tracks down are neither helpful or very clever, try thinking before opening your gob eh lad just a thought, rant nearly over for the riders from both teams who gave it a proper go gave us a cracking meeting of racing on yes at times a difficult track Forgot to mention Mr Cook, I'm not his biggest fan but at no point last night did he look like he had lost it with his temper, it was a hard move from Wright which I beleive the pair sorted amicably in pits Over to the promotion to get it sorted and finish the season and yes jye sorry but hopefully racing for many seasons to follow

  24. At the end of the day it is what it is, it’s happened now. No matter who calls who on here or whose at fault it won’t change last night. It’s the going forward and sorting things out that is important. Only the people who were involved last night know exactly what happened and what was said. It’s like chinese whispers on here

  28. The point am saying the hole didnt just appear so why not complain aftet ht 5 ,6,7,whatever,2 ways to look at it was mr brown unhappy with the track and feared for his riders,or here we are 2 points in front poor track lets kick up a stink, cleaver manager or a chancer, not for me to say

  29. Glasgow complained after ht8 when the concrete rut appeared and after the crash in ht 11 the referee was called to look at the track and asked the 2 captains who both said it was pretty dangerous the Glasgow rider crashed because they were trying to avoid the concrete line mid corner as the concrete slab ran from mid corner right round till the start of the straight basically the racing line that every rider aims for

  33. Add Berwick to those two teams thanks to excellent sponsorship, a supporters club that raises bucket loads of cash and a promotion that cuts its cloth accordingly.

  40. Health & Safety........just a thought Before tracks are allowed to start each season the base of the track should be inspected by an appropriate licensed official. Just like a car having a mot. And like a mot, any necessary work to be carried out before it is issued a certificate to show it is fit for purpose. This will come at a cost but doesn't everything involved with health and safety e.g. air fences. I don't know wot inspections are actually made with the track other than it's surface before a meeting starts. Maybe they need to use Tatum's dirtometer and a scanner that archeologist's use!

  44. The rider didn’t crash because he was avoiding the rut, he hit the airbag near the pit gate which is nowhere near the concrete line. Heat 10 was actually race of the season at brough as well with about 5 passes in the race.

  45. Moving away from the under strength side and the state of the track, which I cannot comment about as was not close enough to observe whether the pictures on social media are accurate or not, the fact that a meeting has been called off for an unfit track in good weather, at 6pm in the evening without any of the promotion offering the fans an explanation is shocking. We had last weeks anticlimax against Berwick, with so much going on in the pits at the end but no comment to the crowd from the promotion on what was actually going on. Tonight again absolute silence after the farce of a postponement in beautiful weather and still with hours of daylight left. The issue is that this promotion hides behind social media and have very poor press releases. It’s about time someone took it upon themselves to communicate with the crowd at a meeting to take responsibility for some of the issues before even more of the loyal hardcore step away. Totally embarrassing tonight and I feel for the Glasgow fans who made the trip down.

  46. You misunderstand. It won't be up to the speedway authorities. Any new owner is unlikely to get planning permission to run motorsports at Brough Park from the local authorities. You weren't to know this. Finding another site would be ideal but that's probably harder to achieve without any money to make it happen and you still need permissions from local authorities. As you say the sport can't afford to lose any more clubs but the BSPL have done their best to achieve just that. I chucked the towel in at the end of 2019, i.e. pre Rob Grant era as to be honest the level of entertainment wasn't worth the money and the meetings seemed to take forever for what is essentially 15 minutes of action. It's an extreme sport and it's presented like crown green bowls from the 70's. The Brough track doesn't suit the modern bikes/riders and Sunday only meetings mean the Diamonds have zero chance of putting together a decent team at the current CL level. A lower standard hybrid of CL and NDL would be ideal for the Diamonds where most riders are UK based. Absolutely crazy the the sport in this country only had one meeting on a Sunday in May. I think that makes it two meetings all weekend (excluding NDL and Friday nights). Totally bonkers imo not to run fixtures when most people have their leisure time. But it would appear everyone in the CL would prefer to subsidise the PL by offering their riders part time work.
