I find it odd people jumping on the wagon to jump on young James, poor guy has moved country at the age of 16 is on tracks hes never rode before what are you expecting from a first season. He won his first ride at scunny the other day so got his 3 points job done. He would have won his first heat last night however got a puncture. Its still only his had 2 home meeting , id hate to work for some off you lot , youd be sacked after your second day. I personally think middle to end of season he will be on 5-7 points at home. Keep the faith and get behind your riders.6 points

James Pearson is still only 16years old. He needs as many rides as he can get. I have criticised LR may times in the past about some of his decisions, but i am with him on this one giving JP his 4 races. If the match was in danger of a home defeat it would have been different. Brummies won6 points

The BSB’s had a certain aroma which was only found there. Probably eminating from the green mould up the walls by the urinals.3 points

Maybe it was the pits area that was rendered unsafe, don't want anyone tripping over them toys or slipping on the spilt milk?3 points

Have you been to Plymouth to actually see the racing there first hand? I'm not a Plymouth supporter but went there for the very first time on Tues vs Poole. Hardly a 'toy track' when you see the breathtaking racing that it produces even tho it's small. Tracks are not about the size but how they are shaped to produce quality racing. I would say you need bigger balls to ride that track than say a Sheffield. The riders are closer together so if one rider comes off it's likely more will follow like dominoes. Toy track, nonsense!3 points

I witnessed his dad getting hit by someone in the pits but I suppose the Newcastle promotion and fans don’t want to talk about that part. Winditin Winditon3 points

Glad to win as I knew we would,,, but come on,,, why gift them a point with no Doyle in 15,,,that just sucks,,,,, I'm guessing they are just happy to win,,,2 points

Could we not afford to pay Doyle to ride in heat 15 or something? Another top drawer move from the tactical genius Hawkins to gift belle vue a point2 points

Steve once told me that 50 per cent of his output was genuine and 50 per cent wind-up and that no-one knew which was which. Including, on occasion, him…2 points

It's probably preference. I don't like watching Edinburgh, Newcastle, Plymouth, wolves, Ipswich as don't find that kind of racing as entertaining as full throttle you get at Glasgow, BV, Peterborough etc. I won't say it's bad or boring etc it's just my personal preference2 points

Met Steve in person he actually admitted he was a wind up artist and good at it better than me to be fair so anything he says i would take it with a pinch of salt. Turnip talks alot of sense, especially for a turnip.2 points

It's clear to see that Plymouth is a much better race track than some would have you believe.2 points

Let’s be clear, no one is criticising young James. He rode superbly last night, his gating was superb snd on several occasions, held off their top heat leaders for over two laps. James is a great prospect snd yes, the points will come. Personally, I don’t care if he doesn’t score many points all season. I hope the club honour their pre season statements that he is under no pressure snd will be given time. I hope that means he is with us all season, regardless of his scores. We will reap the benefits next season. what is being missed, is that many of the “floating” punters snd the newbies, only want to support a winning team unfortunately!!! Birmingham have had an unfortunate start to the season at home, not having completed a match before last night snd this has already had an affect on crowd levels. EVERY home rider last night, rode their socks off and they ALL want snd, DESERVE the right to win matches if they are good enough to do so. What none of us want, is for that chance to be taken from them by an inept team manager!!! As has been pointed out already, we missed out on the playoffs last year by one point. No team can afford to “gift” points to the opposition if they are serious about getting to the playoffs snd competing for honours. The new consortium have already invested a more than six figure sum into the club snd are doing so many things right but, their hard work means nothing if the crowd levels are affected by disgruntled fans or sadly, by fans stopping away because the team isn’t winning. Laurence is to be commended for the work he does for the club snd his key role in getting the consortium together but, that doesn’t alter the fact that over time, he has repeatedly proven to be an inept team manager. Apparently, in a radio WM interview he said he left James in his last race because : “ he deserved it”. I can see the logic but, I snd I believe, most other Brummies fans want is for team manager to do his UTMOST to get the team over the winning line., not to be mister nice guy to the riders. By his actions last night , he could snd nearly did cost the other six riders the win that all seven of them, including James Pearson , had worked so hard for. Laurence has a history of such poor decision making snd it’s not good enough. We will never win anything with this team manager. He continued the Shanes / Morris pairing all of last season despite the fact that they are not compatible as a pairing, always wanting the same line snd constantly getting in each others way, constantly being on the wrong end of a 5-1 . Despite this being glaringly obvious and talked about by many fans, Laurence just didn’t see it or, change it. . We have been running rider rep at the moment snd guess what… in several of these meetings, what does he do? He pairs Shane’s snd Morris in the first rider rep ride, snd guess what, we got stuffed in those heats. Yes, they got a 4-2 in heat 14 last night because Shanes has actually started gating lately .That’s the same Shane’s that should have replaced young James in James’ in his last ride and then we may well not have been going into the last heats with Scunthorpe having the chance to either win the meeting or, the last heat with a chance of taking s point. That would have killed the “upsurge” the fans went home with after a great all around team effort snd our first home win. The criticism is of Laurence Rogers , not young James .2 points

Maybe tracks that can’t get their floodlights to work should also just be training tracks2 points

These 'works' seem to have come at a very convenient time. Reminds me of a Cradley v Wolves match that was called off due to a 'waterlogged track' . One of my mates lived in Dudley and we thought might as well go for a drink as we were going to be out anyway. Passed by the track to have a look, dry as a bone. The fact that Hancock and Hamill had missed their flights back to the UK was a pure coincidence.2 points

Well done to all for achieving first home win this season. Sorry,I can't make the 140 mile round trip to support the team whilst there are folk who think loyal supporters of speedway(and have been for many years) are classed as 'keyboard warriors'. Who gives a flying from posts on Brummies Speedway Forum whos birthday it is or whos grass has been cut during the off season and if anyone has a day off work to take a rider to an airport No disrespect to those who have taken on the challenge to put the Brummies on track for 2022.Those folk who have put their money where their mouths are deserve our ultimate respect2 points

Wouldn’t have moved King from 5 either personally. Once Riss has been moved to 2 he probably thought Barker and Batchelor as a pair at 3 and 4 looked a bit iffy so moved King in there. I prefer keeping things simple, Barker at 2, Riss and Batchelor 3 and 4 and King at 5. Although certainly an argument for Riss at 5 on current form. Only one man’s opinion matters though at the end of the day. Perhaps Hawkins is far more of a tactical genius than any of us gave him credit for2 points

Fair enough,,, but a poorly Doyle would still stand more chance,, only needed a second place,,, plus if he was in,,, no one would have moaned even if he ran a last1 point

Of course it did. Ostergaard and Andersen in particular were never going to reach 7 point averages again1 point

As Newcastle are over 3 points below the 42 limit, I don't think signing a new reserve is the answer to avoiding the wooden spoon!1 point

Sorry JJ but I have to strongly disagree. You must have been the only Brummies fan not expecting to see Shanes replace Pearson in his last ride. Pearson had done nothing wrong but, lambert had already beaten him three times. Shane’s had easily won the reserves race against lambert snd was riding really well. Rogers has to be the most inept team manager we have ever had. Not only did he nearly cost us the points. ( not for the first time either), but he almost handed Scunthorpe a league point. I travelled to Plymouth last season snd Rogers cost us the league win there. Another case of not making the right changes at the right times !!! Yet again all the fans, including the Plymouth ones, were gobsmacked when hd didn’t take Morris out of heat 14, costing us a 5-1 and, the meeting He is totally inept as a team manager. Can’t fault the work Rogers does off the track but he has no idea about team tactics, pairings or rider changes during meetings .1 point

Not riding a track because it’s dangerous is fair enough but not as good an excuse as the Newcastle junior rider on Saturday who ( allegedly) didn’t ride the Berwick track because it was too big for him1 point

Don’t know about the heated Pit incident, but it’s far from petty not letting young juniors go out on a track that Senior riders considers unfit for racing.1 point

As I see it a riders job is to win races or at the very least to beat his opposite number, a managers job is to make sure his team wins then to make sure the opposition takes no league points, surely thats what the Sport is all about it is after all a competitive Sport if not then there is no point in competing, instead we should just play tiddly winks.1 point
