Not riding a track because it’s dangerous is fair enough but not as good an excuse as the Newcastle junior rider on Saturday who ( allegedly) didn’t ride the Berwick track because it was too big for him4 points

Could just be hes not actually very good!! Cant see him ever moving out of the reserve berth to be honest4 points

The problem is when the weaker reserve thinks he's the better reserve or the people around him are telling him that.4 points

I've always thought Dave Peer was an awful team manager but he's got nothing on Laurence Rogers3 points

Watched this on bsn. Track was very smooth and well prepared and produced plenty of decent racing. the meeting was perfectly paced and the riders really did interact with the fans and entertained with plenty of wheelies. repeat this week in and week out and you will hopefully get the crowds you need. well done guys.3 points

The 3rd and 4th bends were as bumpy as. Even after Tys crash there was nothing done. Rerun after about 99 minutes and guess what , same place George wipes Kyle out in exactly the same place. Only then was the blade brought out. Even after still not good with riders tearing up coming out of the bend. It’s the junior teams right not to want to ride what they deemed dangerous. And then the right small guys get a couple of laps and once again same corner and another crash. We can all stand on the terraces and moan and winge but these guys could get seriously injured. What’s done is done and we move on.3 points

Me, You, and the vast majority of fans I would say.... A huge opportunity I would think over the next couple of years for the sport over here when (if) Poland release the riders to ride in more leagues. .. The top league has to be seen as "the flagship" in any sport so getting plenty of top two division riders from Poland over here into the teams (with top GP stars included) will be almost like a "new start" for the sport.. In the interim, having the likes of Doyle, Fricke, NKI, Holder, Kurtz, and Zagar over here means the top league has some "top talent" that doesn't also ride Div 2 so there is some demarcation.... The more the merrier, and the better the sport will be...3 points

Last night Morley took a extra reserve ride in Ht14 meaning the other reserve only got 3 rides. We had already done enough to win the match and looks hard on Edwards, but if we dropped a 4-2 in that race and a 5-1 in the last which was possible Poole would have snatched a vital bonus point. Correct decision by the manager who is judged on results, not sure if Atkins would have seen it that way if he had been involved.3 points

There’s a few of them about. They need to do their talking on the track irrespective of Team Managers tactics.3 points

Rubbish... we were 2 points away from Scunthorpe taking a point? Crap management tactics ! Shanes should've taken one of Pearsons rides! It's a no brainer! You avent got a clue!2 points

A perfect Bomber track... Horsepower not a major determinant, and just enough dirt outside on an otherwise slick track for him to exploit like so few can... Wolverhampton could do worse than see how Plymouth get their outside line working...2 points

No I’ll think you will find it was not started by any Newcastle fan2 points

Granty Jnr obviously wasn’t about when Granty senior was in his prime. He caused a few “heated incidents “ most weeks.Nothing has changed IMO.If the incidents were in the Pits what were the fans doing in there as he intimates.Apologies about the state of the track might be more relevant.2 points

Its just a pity that at time of writing the Diamonds and the Bandits wont face each other again this season. Maybe a KOC Final.2 points

Second half was cancelled due to the Berwick juniors not wanting to ride, nothing to do with the goings on in the pits. I did witness Newcastle fans shout abuse at all the Berwick riders and promotion, so if a couple Berwick guys gave some back, then fair game in my opinion, as it was the Newcastle fans that started the verbal abuse… as usual.2 points

I think you need to rein your neck in a bit! I don’t know how long you’ve been attending speedway… since I started regularly attending again 20+ years ago, there’s always been tension in our matches, more so at Brough! Your lot ain’t holier than thou either and Rob should think clearly about the comments he’s received himself at the hands of his own fans! and consider why our promotion stopped our junior riders going out… Scott, Jamie and Flinty are ex-riders… they have an idea on track prep and conditions! Why would they send our youngsters out if they were concerned… they have a role to play in the management and welfare of them! Consider also that one of our senior team had his son due to go out in the NJL meeting?! I’m sure he’d have let him ride if there was no issue!2 points

On Sunday, not Saturday, at Brough, the Berwick lot spat their dummies out because they got beat fair and square by the worst team in the league and it sounds like it got pretty heated particularly in the pits from the official Berwick promotion and riders (can't comment exactly as I didn't see what went on in the pits, but the Berwick promotion stopped their junior riders from riding in the NJL match, that's how petty it got), I don't think they could stomach the fact that they got beat by such a weak team on paper and the tempers spilled into the crowd slightly also. Where I was stood there was many kids present and most of them were over the age of 50..... Ridiculous... Berwick have always been pretty sore losers, it's funny because me and my missus were only just commenting about it travelling up in the car before the meeting even started, talking about how they wouldn't be happy being beaten by the weakest Diamonds team of the 21st century Shame, because there's a few of the Berwick riders I quite like and they always put interesting teams together... Just spoiled by the few as usual2 points

No the signed a rider on a 28 day contract which the BSPA approved. Do you honestly think that the BSPA didn't expect BV to replace that rider. Stop digging that hole.2 points

With a bit of patience Atkins might well have ended up being the reserve benefitting from extra rides after Gilkes' unfortunate injury. Garry May has always made the most of reserve changes so riders should know what to expect when signing for one of his teams. I remember years ago at Edinburgh in a cup final he took Brady Kurtz out of heat 13 to give the weaker reserve (Chessell I think) his 3rd ride which left Rasmus Jensen able to come in and win it for Somerset in 14. I can see why it can get tough for someone in Atkins position but it's about the team winning. May not only knows how to build winning teams but also gets the best out of them.2 points

I'm not suggesting that's a good thing, i think In terms of promotion it's pretty poor2 points

It is 25% of league fixtures across the whole league. This introduces yet another problem. The date of the window's opening and closing won't be known until the events have happened. Imagine: it is Monday night 14 of 60 league matches have been ridden, then Wolves get rained off and a thunderstorm floods Peterborough after heat 9. Now all those new signings have to wait a few more days. Scrap it now.2 points

Nail hit firmly on the head! It's all about reasonable expectations. 1. Dan Gilkes has been flying and arguably the best reserve in the league why wouldn't you be putting him in at every opportunity, I didn't see Alfie complaining at Scunny etc. 2. Henry's form both in the NL and CL has been questionable (bar one NL meeting at Plymouth) 3. Henry is only a handful of meetings into the season after a year out so was always going to need time to get going and I'd have thought those around him would appreciate that The point being that there is a massive impatience to Henry getting CL rides when his form doesn't warrant it. That sadly won't bode well for him at any club. Those around him feeling entitled will only end one way.2 points

The words 'toys' and 'pram' spring to mind. Such a shame because Henry Atkins is so much better than that. Possible that someone has been whispering in his ear2 points

Wouldn't surprise me if Glasgow call the fixture against Plymouth off for possible sprinkle of rain especially with the gladiators in buoyant mood.1 point

Averages after tonight at Oxford (four matches) which come into effect seven days later. In practical terms the new line-up will be used for the first time when the Bullets face Kent on May 21. Unless something truly bizarre happens at Oxford then Mason and Ace will trade places with Ben and Kieran.1 point

Have you read the rules? K.Lynn are allowed a facility as Kildemand isn't coming. Did Belle Vue declare their 1-7 before the start of the season?Lemon's incompetence of not being able to do this is now being rewarded.1 point

Wot a fantastic liddle race track Plymouth have. Despite the disappointing result for us Pirates the Gladiators won fair and square with some breathtaking racing. I was on the back straight near the exit of bend 2, wow being that close to the action on a small track really makes u feel the sport between yer do da's! Great to meet lewy as well, enjoyed our chat. Ere's to the return on June 22nd, at Poole, Gladiators ready?.........1 point

Just seen the highlights on Quest, almost a waste of time. Too much faffing about with replays etc. I know it was the first one of the season, but did it need so long at the beginning before the racing began with Heat 18!? Less time wasted would allow more time for the actual racing with more heats able to be shown. Next time a longer programme or less mucking about please.1 point
