Out for the rest of the season with a grazed knee would be my guess.6 points

Agree with the cost effective side if you Employ a 3rd party. It was a goodwill gesture from Glasgow to stream during Covid.IMO.2 points

The problem is how do you decide what a good crowd is? many posters within this forum I imagine remember crowds upwards of 10K back in the "Good old day's" but now there is so much to factor in. Fewer top stars in British racing, lower standard racing, Cheaper & more frequent flights, the need to accomodate visiting riders & of course the modern human. I attended a Promotion/Fans get together & someone asked why dont you get a couple of riders with their bikes to attend schools in the area. A good idea in principle & a very good idea in 1975 but as I mentioned above "The modern human" we need to get the youth away from their hand held devices for a 90 minute period. They will come to watch but when a meeting is strung out & 15 races take from 19:30 until 22:00 they get bored & never return but the worst is to come when they put on their social media account how slow & boring speedway was & they will never go again. In short run a slick show start on time pre-meeting presentation 19:15 first race 19:30 at the tapes run to the finish 21:00 (without intervals) victory parade (15 Minutes) second half races until 22:00. If this was sustained maybe we could hold the attention of the youth & the word SPEED in our sport of SPEEDWAY might just mean something again.2 points

Did anyone ever think that would work out ? Probably one of the most bizzare decisions he has ever made...2 points

I had a word with the author of Speedway in London as I know him quite well and he said he thinks Historian is correct and apologises for the error, but, as Historian says, these sort of myths once ingrained keep getting repeated. I think you will also find that Speedway in London says that speedway started in West Maitland in 1923 and, as we all know now, that is a complete myth and completely untrue. He says he was very young and naive when he wrote Speedway in London…….2 points

Agreed, Barker despite having his issues at times off track is pure box office on it and dirty he is not.2 points

Birmingham only just managed 10 heats. It was heavy rain during Heat 10 too. Phil Griffin praised the 2022 track surface, saying that last year, in similar conditions, they would not have got ten heats. Track looked (and rode) very smooth.1 point

I'm glad it's not the norm in the other league, as based purely on forecasts both meetings would have been off tonight whereas they both got completed. Forecasts are often wrong in this country. If it was 80%-90% chance of heavy/persistent rain then fair enough. But 50% chance, come on.1 point

Just saying wasn't cost effective, but I'd suggest that's because went with a 3rd party not in house. Delighted the tote board is away though1 point

Yeah. I like my beer I usually have 3 pints watching the riders in the pits between 6.30 to 7.30.Then 5 during the meeting.1 point

Think everyone knows by now that the sunshines out of everyones ass in Poole , hence theres not alot of rain that falls in Dorset ,1 point

I honestly thought that this season was going to be the turning point for Kings Lynn speedway club, but it seems I am wrong. I have seen 2 weather forecasts for kings Lynn tomorrow and neither of them talked of enough rain to worry about.1 point

I doubt if i'll go to both that close together. With getting in, my beer and paying my son to drop me off and p[ick me up costs me 70 quid a meeting.1 point

But now the re-arrangement is 4 days after the one on the 21st,this too will put fans off imo.1 point

Be good to get a win against Leicester though for confidence even if it is only 2 points, so they are ready for next home meeting. Who is that against again??1 point
-
The idea was that many of the riders had ridden for, or had a connection, with Stoke, as a memory to Dave Tattum. The side had riders who are pretty useful around Brough, so the averages are pretty obsolete, IMO.1 point

Harris for Kennett makes the meeting a better event. Best wishes to Eddie Kennett. Sounds nasty after a fairly innocuous slide off.1 point

You have just proved that averages don’t tell the whole story of team strength. It was a strong Stoke team at Brough Park. It had 2 former Newcastle #1’s and another rider who usually rides Brough very well. On paper, they should have won but as we all know, speedway isn’t run on paper.1 point

Brave prediction... I'll go for 36 - 54 in favour of Leicester.1 point

Hans should swap it with his Peterborough bike then because that didn't seem strong at all.1 point

Not sure why I keep reading about Newcastle facing a "strong" Stoke side? Steve Worrall (9.05) James Sarjeant (4.08) Ricky Wells (6.59) Leon Flint (5.89) Ben Barker (6.87) Connor Coles (2.00) Joe Alcock (2.00) Total: 36.48 That team average is well below the Championship 42.00 limit. Does makes sense for Newcastle to start off against a "weak" side to gain confidence ahead of official matches, but they'll certainly find it tougher from now on!1 point

Well if that's the case then Adams needs to be questioned still, needs to stop them from holding hands all the time!1 point

Long term plan. No rider to replace retired Eddy. Come and do one meeting drop it, and we can have a facility for ages. Rider shortage sorted.1 point

I was encouraged by Sunday. To beat a pretty strong Stoke select containing a couple of Brough specialists with a non contributing #1 and a brand new #7 made me hope for a decent set of home results as even if BWD and Congreve don’t meet their averages but do improve, then I think the rest of the team will carry us over the line more often than not. I expect a few hammerings away but that doesn’t tend to affect the crowds at home which is the main thing for now.1 point

And to think Lewy mocked scunny and Plymouth get smashed at home1 point

Gonna be close I think, will be there if the weather behaves but a few showers forecast at the moment. Worrall certainly the key man.1 point

Suppose the only bad luck in 2000 was to come up against the best team Eastbourne had ever produced at any time in their history and just edged it, but it was close and both were way ahead of anyone else that season. Although KL had Crump and Adams topping the averages, Eastbourne had 5 riders average between 7 and 9.6, and all British in a proper Elite league.....1 point
-
It's all well & good saying that changes need to be made ! But the thing is where are the riders going to come from as with being a Sunday track we all know how hard it is getting a out & out number 1 rider in as a majority of the riders Rob tried to get in last season are fixed up this season already so we need to get behind the current team & enjoy the rest of the season..1 point

I think any team with Jason Doyle in will always be nearer the play offs than the bottom... However, just realised that in this league being fifth gets you equidistant from both... So maybe not a great rule of thumb....1 point
