Seems like so many other rule changes British Speedway has conjured up over the years. Completely needless and guaranteed to wind the fans up6 points

How about 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw, No tactical’s off 15 yards or otherwise. The current 15 heat formula has proved to be good and a reasonable points limit should be kept. If promoters think they need more excitement then they should ensure their race tracks are not super slick and encourage racing as opposed to gating competitions. Rules should be left to the SCB as the BSPL have showed over the years they are completely incapable of any reasonable improvements as this latest example shows. All leagues should be under exactly the same rules, let’s get back to keeping it simple.3 points

This poster has it dead right. When they brought in the 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, 0-3, 0-4 scoring system it was the best thing they ever did. Very fair, and it kept most matches alive until the final heat. From the home team trying to win by more than 6 to the away team trying to win by 6, it kept matches alive within a 12-point spread. The only matches which didn't have anything on the last heat were runaway wins. Even when they changed it to 3 points for every home win (because fans allegedly didn't like going home winning with only 2 points) it still covered that 12-point spread. Home teams still needed to push for a win by more than 6; Not to get the full 3 points, but to stop the away team getting a point. Even with that change, I still thought it was a very good scoring system. But this year they seem to have sat down and said "What is the best rule we have brought in in recent times? And how can we mess it up, to annoy fans?". If that was the aim, they have succeeded.3 points

Lemon has left us in a position whereby any half decent rider approached will want a high fee to ride for us, as we are now in a desperate position. I can see us doing a Kings Lynn and signing a temporary rider, before the start of the Polish season, but still struggling to get anyone decent after that. Yet another poor decision, on lemons part.2 points

I think they had it right with the 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 system. I think that worked well. They should have stuck with that. Unbelievable that they changed that because sometimes supporters went home disappointed that they didn't get 3 points after winning at home and now have a system where home supporters might go home disappointed with not getting a point after getting a draw. The response to someone querying it says it all really. "Let's see." Brilliant.2 points

An away team has probably rode well to get a draw only for it to be taken away by a super heat advantage to the home side who would no doubt put out their top rider, can,t see what,s fair about that. why don,t they leave things as they are.2 points

The rider signed will ride round in front of the main stand at the first team meeting He will stand there in his Aces Kevlars whilst the crowd all shout take it off , take it off Slowly the masked helmeted ace will be revealed to the crowd to be .................1 point

Get the Berwick home meetings on demand (once you are back home from the meeting) if they are good meetings. I think it's worthwhile buying a season pass. I will probably watch most of the meetings as a highlights package. I need to find out if you can start watching half way through the meeting (say at heat 8) and you can scan back to heat 1 and watch the races before watching the last 2 or 3 races live. Take it you mean the interviews? Will get round to watching them at some point.1 point

Just digressing a little, it's an interesting comment that you made, Bob, about certain riders being forgotten - particularly English world finalists. It's not unusual to see stories about the old'uns, but names like Jim Lightfoot, Dick Fisher, Brian Brett, and George White are often ignored.1 point

I can’t see where the comment has stated that George won’t do well this season, only that to help him settle into UK racing that the number 7 position will give him the easier rides to help him acclimatise to British Speedway. Any rider coming into British Speedway, especially those without league racing experience, need time to adapt to the track shapes, surfaces and the effects of the great British weather. Barghy arrived in the UK at a very young age and took time to settle and Mark took a few seasons before becoming the top rider he was when his UK career ended. George will be keen to do well and hopefully he has a good debut season but keeping the pressure off him to allow him to settle into his new surroundings is a sound strategy in my eyes.1 point

Really shows why the sport cannot be taken seriously in GB.Just enjoy the racing ,because winning means nothing nowadays.1 point

In the SS there is a story on Plymouth that a Premiership rider turned them down to ride for another Championship club & as there are not many places left, it makes me surmise that this rider is Ellis so is just a matter of doting the "i's" & crossing the "t's" with probably a localised sponsor to help with his demands(wages) being the "British Champion".1 point

As far as i can ascertain the Premiership will remain on Eurosport but the GP`s/SON will be live on the Discovery plus streaming Channel but highlights might appear on Eurosport later.1 point

Not without precedent. In the early-mid 80s they only had Jan Andersson. England had only Harris for a few years. USA have noone. NZ have had noone of world class for close to 35 years. Australia had noone in the late 80s after Crump retired. The Poles had noone for over a decade until Gollob emerged. It happens1 point

Shows how confusing it is! Basically, they are potentially punishing away teams (home teams have nothing to lose) just because they think drawn matches aren't exciting ...1 point

The only way the Super Heat Decider would add to the entertainment factor would be :- THE 2 LOWEST SCORING RIDERS WERE AUTOMATICALLY SEEDED TO IT. Now that would be entertaining and perfectly sum up this ridiculous scenario.1 point

https://www.bellevue-speedway.com/news/we-took-a-gamble Lemo admits he gambled on the Dan Beeley route. And I agree with him regarding this. If there was a chance for Dan to return he had to go for it1 point

I think I am getting too old for this website. I recognise that Jim Lightfoot was from a previous era-although Norbold and BL 65 will probably recall him. Anyway after doing extensive (is there no other sort) research- Capn`Jim is still with us (same age as Reg Fearman). Good for Jim -a World Finalist in 1963- I am worried these riders will be forgotten. I would ask again for memories of Jim- Norbold, Chunky , Iris ,anyone....1 point

It has been a nightmare in Wisbech mainly because of the 3 way traffic lights at leverington Road. But much of the traffic has been coming from Sutton Bridge which has made the situation much worse than it should be.Sutton Bridge situation is due to go on until July I think. Would expect the travel situation to be much better on a Sunday though. Looking forward to this already, especially with the weather forecast looking good as well.1 point

Rising Star and no 8 basically are sharing the position. TM declares who is in team 3 days before meeting. 012.2 TEAM COMPOSITION A Premiership team’s initial declaration must not exceed 39.00 points for the top 6 riders. Rising Star riders will be declared at number 7 and number 8. The declared Rising Stars in positions 7 & 8 are permitted to alternate, at the Team Managers discretion, meeting by meeting, provided the opposing team are given a minimum of three days notice.1 point

I read the Star article on this today and realised just how much they miss their Managing Editor. The article detailed the shambles that the promoters have created with ridiculous variations in regulations across the leagues; but without any enciteful, critical comment that would doubtless have come from Mr. Rising. Shame.1 point

Reading today's article in the Speedway Star about the various rules and regs across the leagues, it just shows how shambolic the sport is. Basically, different rules to decide meetings in each league - talk about over-complicated!!1 point

Because he doesn't want to? Would rather run and promote the meeting perhaps. Enjoy the occasion with his family. Would be my guess.1 point

They certainly do matter, 1&5 have the hardest rides, 7 has the easiest. A rider is likely to say what Summers says to build his confidence, no-one wants to think, "this'll be hard & I'll struggle to score". Could say number 7 has one hard ride & number 6 has 3 hard rides.1 point

No rain offs!!!! , knockout Cup, play offs, all has to be accounted for and planned into the fixture list. It's not just thrown together. Also time taken out for the local egg& spoon race or intentional bean bag throwing or whatever they do.1 point

Birmingham don’t ride every Wednesday for starters and Vissing won’t ride every match in Denmark either. The Danish season doesn’t start until much later either. If planned correctly it shouldn’t be a problem - the ‘planned correctly’ is the important part of that statement though….1 point

I'd personally switch the reserves around, otherwise I'd agree with that line up. Hard to tell on the pics but the pits seem pretty much in the same position (pics are on Facebook). I believe they are containers, with the fronts 'chopped off.'1 point

Seems a stupid idea to me. There's no need for it, what was wrong with a draw? Also as has been seen in the SON. Someone falls on the first lap or touches the tapes etc & you get the boring situation of a virtually pointless re-run where only one team can win with the 4,3,2,0 scoring system being used. Also cannot understand why they'd introduce a rule change like this & not announce it?1 point

I've looked it up (did find the model no but can't recall it off the top of my head) and its not modern enough to carry the necessary apps, checked on various techy help sites and I'm not the first to find this, the 10 there are the only ones available with no search facility. Its nothing horrendous, I have a choice of buying add ons, watching it on a tablet or hoping highlights/later showings get played on Eurosport, or this BT deal that's been mused comes to fruition. I'd have been more irritated if this had happened 10-15 years ago when I was massively into the GP's. Without sounding like a caveman (which I undoubtedly am) I don't feel making it complicated (imo) to watch a sport is necessarily a good thing, you're not going to attract new fans that way.1 point

What happens if the curfew time is hit before the super heat takes place,,, do the then do a silent one lap running race. It's pretty much been invented for TV,, so the 2 clowns commentating can cream their pants telling us,, we will have a winner tonight.1 point

Honestly Just wait till you get to see this new Northside set up... you will be on top of the racing here alright... the viewing will be something else... can't wait for the weather to fair up a bit so the guys can get cracking again... been a bit hit and miss since the turn of the year due to the various storms and the rain... Regards THJ1 point

I just cannot see the point of this extra "super heat ". What is wrong with a draw in a League match? It has been fine since League Speedway started. Usually both teams supporters go home happy. It will just drag the match out, as most if not all the riders in the super heat, will have ridden in heat 15. So another long delay !!! The supporters dont seem keen on this, and it will cost the promoters more wages, as the riders wont be racing for nothing in this race. So why bring it in?1 point

Well, they've done it again haven't they? They've had their meeting and someone has come up with some thought from the top of their head and they've all gone: "Oh, what a wizard idea" and voted it in. What happened in the Championship? Did they say: "That's a bit silly. The points system is already worked out to account for drawn matches" so just the Premiership voted it in? They even forgot to tell anyone, so a lot of people won't even know what is going on with the extra race, never mind the fact that the points scored are different to in every other heat. If they want to do this, then use it for cup matches not league matches. Daft.1 point

It makes no sense to me. Why ban a rider who the Russians have banned for speaking out against Vladimir Putin? How does that send any form of message to the Russian authorities? It is effectively supporting the moves made by Russia. I don't get it. How does this encourage Russian people to speak out against the war? If anything it will make them less likely to.1 point
-
Checked calendar when I first read this but then realised it wasn't funny and wasn't a joke. Daft idea. It is OK in cup ties but not for league matches.1 point
-
There were four 45-45 scores in the Prem in 2021 - by definition, they were drawn results. The fact that the away team is rewarded with an extra league point is probably the main reason why this new Regulation makes no sense. Why give the home team the opportunity to rob the away team of a well-earned extra point?1 point
-
Exactly, and giving the home team a point and the away team two seems a good way to settle it to me.1 point
-
I'm not totally against the idea of a 4-3-2-0 point scoring format to see team riding attempted However I would keep that to one competition only say the League Cup only and leave the league as it is and enable draws leave this super heat b***ocks out1 point
-
Because with just six teams (Two under the same control) you only need 3 or 4 idiots in the Premiership to have a majority to make daft changes for themselves. The sanity within the Championship must keep the nutters at bay.1 point
-
And it's the dispicable 4-3-2-0 scoring to contrive a definite result. A draw is often a very good and fair result especially for an away side, achieved with a full 7 riders (hopefully). So now it's just down to which team has just the best top two only and the justice/joy of a hard fought draw is lost. Ridiculous to change it. Boils my p!ss.1 point
