Could be the year Berwick surprise. If Ty performs it could mean playoffs.2 points

I have not seen much of the Winter Olympics but I have no problem at all with Nigel Pearson and Kelvin Tatum…at least they sound enthusiastic and try and promote racing to a casual viewer….and producers want enthusiasm in commentary now, times have changed from old style commentary so if you don’t follow then you are replaced.2 points

I'm all for enthusiasm and generally don't mind Pearson myself but I understand why people don't like him, he is at times too shouty and loud. There are others out there I prefer to listen to and would be quite happy to see replace NP if the need ever arose. There was a guy in the 90s and 00s who did the videos from Coventry and Peterborough, he was a very fast commentator, almost horse racing style, I really liked him. Always made races sound exciting even if they weren't As for Tatum though, I would never get rid of him. His knowledge and experience as a former rider makes him very good at what he does IMO.1 point

I thought Steve Cram and Rhona were brilliant with the curling commentary knowing and explaining what shots were on to not on, and why. Once again Curling, after a major completion, will be the talk of people who never go to the rinks to watch it. Fascinating sport, played in a good and fair competitive sport, where the tactics and their execution are unbelievable. Pity there is no rinks beside me where it is played.1 point

Poole can't use Ablitt at reserve 'cos they've lent him to Panthers for the night!! Its 'only' a Challenge meeting for Bjarne's benefit so anything can be agreed between the 2 clubs.1 point

Just imagine how exciting the sport would be to watch if the late Dan Maskell or the late John Arlott had been doing the commentary. Sales of sleeping pills would have plummeted.1 point

They get points money and travel expenses. Neither of which make the racing profitable in any way especially with the current prices of diesel. Some riders I have been involved with this has been £10 a point and 10p a mile.1 point

It is only quite a pretty recent (ish) thing for clubs to name their teams pre Xmas... Many a year has been spent going into press and practice days with line ups getting confirmed not too many days before.. Whatever team they end up with, the racing will be very good I am sure..1 point

Yeah, but that's not why football was better back then. It's the quality of the footage and extra camera angles that makes watching modern sport (particularly speedway) so wonderful. The reason football was better back then is because it was played by men. No playing for penalties, diving, playing balls back to the keeper, reluctance to attack and take on defenders, and general niggly crap... I watch old matches on YouTube regularly.1 point

Pretty even between the top 5s but the reserves of Peterborough will demolish the Poole reserves not that it matters I just hope a great servant gets a brilliant send off.1 point

Poultec is a very successful company that primarily deals with training and apprenticeships, so the idea was to give the young riders all about running their business, accounts etc, as well as diet and fitness, and they have a well equipped workshop for learning about the mechanical side of things including making their own parts. https://www.flickr.com/photos/the_womble/albums/721576574139551281 point
