Only trouble is did they really make the grade when they previously came over, not really, and probably worse now if still riding, and you would have to pay the current rate for a rider who's substandard championship level. It just again shows the damage the powers that be did by finishing off a competitive NL of a few seasons ago for self interest, I'm sure the conveyor belt of the Brennen's, Palin etc would have continued to a greater extent than it has since. I know it won't answer all the problems with rider shortage, but I bet Birmingham, Eastbourne, Kent and others would have stayed in a competitive NL, less teams in the championship so more riders to go round and continuing to bring through the young talent. Too much of a threat to the upper leagues though.2 points

Whilst you might not like his decision, it’s his track and his opinion and that has nothing to do with ‘nomadic teams ‘.2 points

Pete rode for Lynn in 1969, and switched to the Hammers in 1970. None of us who were around for that will ever forget it.1 point

Memory No1 . Briggo winning the last of his six British Championships. I don’t think I’ve ever seem one rider who towered so much above the opposition as Briggs did that night . The No2 gate wasn’t working. Nobody was winning from it Even Mauger came last off of it. Then out comes Briggo with a tapes to flag win and a 15 point maximum. Memory No 2 . England v Sweden , Briggs v Michanek. Michanek gated first , Briggs tried to get through on the inside and was blocked. Tried the outside and was blocked . Then switched back to the inside and cast Michanek aside as if he wasn’t there. Nothing unusual about that you might say ? Well it all happened on the first two bends at Briggs was in front by the time they hit the back straight. Breathtaking stuff. Memory No 3 . Everything about Ken McKinlay. Hurri-Ken’s glittering career went downhill almost overnight towards the end , but I think that was due to a shoulder injury. It was a privilege to see him at his best . A master of track craft who rode with his head, a skill only matched, perhaps by Leigh Adams in more recent years. Memory No4 . Just being at the place . It oozed atmosphere.1 point

For the anoraks amongst us, you might wish to visit: http://speedwayswapshop.co.uk There is a display of over 330 prog covers of British tracks from 1928 to late 50's, and also images of old badges of the same period.1 point

There you go then.... one down, two to go. So, how about Shawn McConnell as the second of the three? Still entertaining the crowds in the USA and a firm favourite of the fans of a certain generation.1 point

From Onesport TVP Sport acquired the rights to show SEC in Poland. - We are already working on broadcasting options in other countries. I'm sure that all speedway fans outside Poland will be able to follow the European Championships without any problems - adds Lejman.1 point

The NL was never a threat to anyone just got its pay structure all wrong. You seem to forget that those mentioned teams , plus Lakeside and Cradley were the teams that paid way above and beyond the NL rates thus making it a ‘ professional’ paid league for amateurs and giving easy money to riders who shouldn’t have ridden at the lower level meaning the end of the likes of Buxton, one of the few clubs who ran the correct way for the NL. The lack of UK riders is because the higher clubs sought foreign riders far too often when British riders were available and so your average second strings and below simply gave up the sport.1 point

Kozza retired due to injury. Taylor fell out of love with speedway. I think Dakota went to help his father in the family business and Kyle became a fireman back home in Canada. exactly the sort of thinking to find a rider though. Ellis perks maybe1 point

The names you mention certainly wouldn’t interested.IMO.Kozzo plays around in OZ.The rest are off the the radar.1 point

Allan Kidd of Poole Pirates starred in a television commercial that was shown nationwide in 1960 - 1961 for Players Weights cigarettes. It was in many of the national and local newspapers, and it also included a lady named Valerie, who was a fashion model for one of the big stores in Bournemouth. Allan and Valerie were actually married and they later emigrated to Canada.1 point

On the first lap, out of camera, Ravn must have either had an engine failure or slid off his bike on the third bend, as only three riders completed the first lap. However he seemingly then made no effort to clear the track, and as Evitts came round the third bend on the second lap, all of a sudden there was Ravn standing with his bike in Evitts line. Evitts smashed into Ravn's bike pretty horribly, and I was surprised when he was able to come out for the rerun (he ended up losing to Ravn in a run off for the world final reserve slot). Someone who was there, or seen better footage, might be able to add more.1 point

It's got nothing at all to do with a shortage of riders, it's a simple fact that the business model that the championship wants to run to is to race at home every week where possible. The debate about whether that is the right business model is another thing entirely, but if that is the model you are trying to adhere to you cannot have the bulk of the teams racing at home on the same night, they have to be spread around. Hence the decision1 point

Nielsen and Morris starting at reserve for us....must be close to being the strongest reserve pairing in the Championship if they perform to their best.1 point

This Ipswich 1 to 7 doesn't look to bad now that the majority of the rest of the teams have been confirmed. That coupled with this is clearly a team that both wanted to be here & is also a team the manager wanted to work with is massive in terms of motivation. The jury is out but I suspect just like 2019 we'll surprise a few.1 point

i think the supporters of teams/tracks no longer in operation could out number the supporters of todays tracks still running in paying for this service .1 point
