Poole drop riders that UNDER PERFORM. They always put together a quality team at the start of every season, but if you don't perform you're out. That's the mentality of champions and is the same in every sport. Like I said, totally clueless.6 points

Honestly I don't want to get embroiled in this however the original company went through a Voluntary Liquidation not because there were any "funds to extract" but because a massive "fraud" had been committed (whether intentional or by accident) and once this came to light there were only two feasible options open to the person who had taken the business on and they were to either pay the VAT man what he was owed (circa £160k) and keep trading or liquidate the company (voluntarily) and then the debt to the VAT man becomes like a frozen debt for the VAT man to pursue through other means. There is an awful lot of legal jargon/technicalities to go through which I wont bore everyone with however lets just say Liquidating a company isn't just a straightforward formality as the person who owns the company being liquidated still has to do things by the book or they end up being blacklisted and stopped from being a company director again until they put things right or at least do things correctly when closing the business. While certain Posters are obsessed with Poole using the rules to their advantage, there is not aTeam in the Leagues who don’t do the same if the situation arises.IMO. It’s the rules that makes the Sport “Mickey Mouse” and not credible regarding winning Titles.4 points

What they are doing on the island is fantastic. Yes I agree I to would like to see IoW back in NDL but if the current owners cannot agree with the politics then this is their best option. I may not enjoy grass bikes or Flat track machines on a speedway track but I see the business plan in that this allows access to more competitors it is a system that has worked across the world of motorcycle racing. In Australia NZ USA & SA all different types & standards will come together to produce the whole event & nobody can argue that anything upto 50 races is better value than 15 no matter what standard or discipline.3 points

We fully appreciate that we are not for everyone. However we have embraced the European/US style of speedway meetings (and I have been to both of them) which last year worked very well, and we hope for the same this year. Personally I dont see the point to say this or that and that along with "glad its not my club" and not have actually experienced what our race nights are about and include. It is so easy for us Brits to put something down rather than saying well done, that is brilliant, good effort, congratulations... sadly it is a known Brit trait However, the simple fact is, and again we fully appreciate that it is not for every speedway/motorsport fan, but the overwhelming result of the year was that people really enjoyed what we put on, loved the atmosphere, and returned. Imagine what could be done without restriction, or fear for riders/clubs being penalised. Our view of the sport remains the same, keep supporting your clubs where you can, attend where you can and provide constructive feedback to your clubs about what you want to see on a race night. Thats exactly what we did. All the best all and thank you all for you feedback, it helps us grately.3 points

They do form part of a forum though and I must admit do make me laugh now and again... But, in fairness to them, not as much as I laugh at those who rise to their bait and get themselves all worked up about something so insignificant.... And seem to react EVERY time....3 points

We've said before that the variety of meetings kept the sport fresh. In addition to the league and KOC, every track had a couple of individual meetings, at least one regional cup, plus things like best pairs and 4TT's. The real icing on the cake was being awarded a Test Match! Those were the days...3 points

As long as I have supported speedway , every home fan will tell you that their track "is a fair race track" . :-) :-) :-)2 points

Sorry, but I can't agree with you. I think that in time it will be much better than the old one. It will just take time for us all to get used to it, and it shouldn't be a problem.2 points

What's put bums on seats in the recent past has been the threat of closure, which brings back some old fans for one last look and the nostalgia, it worked with me and my family. Hats off to the new Promoters for putting up the money and also having the sense to say it won't be an annual thing. I love speedway, I've been brought up on it from a nipper but if I won the lottery would I sink money into it? no way, its not even a break even venture let alone profit making. Unfortunately the best times are behind us, the worlds changed, new fans aren't being attracted as it's not exciting enough and not worth the money. Could anything be done to change that?.....sadly I don't think so any more, it's beyond saving in it's current guise. Birmingham is a 2 hour round trip for me and I wouldn't dismiss me attending a couple of matches this season, but they will either be because someone of interest is in the meeting that night like BB or Smoli, or because the grim reaper has struck again and there's a threat that it could all disappear. Up The Brummies, fingers crossed for a full and profitable season in 2022.2 points

Scunthorpe will be decent enough at home and have some genuine heat leaders. Newcastle have dropped a couple of clangers and the new Kiwi using up 4 points in place of a genuine 2nd/3rd heat leader looks madness as does the return of Complin. Its not all doom and gloom for Brum and both a full season and not finishing bottom are possibilities i just fear both are going to be equally difficult tasks.2 points

Yes, and if he stayed on the bike for 4 laps he would have scored considerably more points. Sometimes the red mist came down and he tried just a tad too hard.2 points

Speedway in the UK is more "sports entertainment" than a bona fide sporting contest where who wins has relevance, kudos, publicity and financial reward.. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to embrace this and build on it by using the "core product" of the racing as its "centre piece" and then building an overall entertainment package around it... With hopefully, "something for everyone" being the box that gets ticked as this means a more likely repeat visit....2 points
-
Same could easily be said about British Speedway as a whole. Whilst IOW don't claim to have all the answers they are at least posing a few questions and getting people talking. The meeting types and formats clearly won't work a lot of places as they simply don't have the track to accommodate it but to successfully run an alternative to league speedway has to be applauded even if it doesn't directly appeal to you.2 points

And why not when rules allow them to do so? Makes total sense to me in a competition that doesnt take on any meaning (if any at all) until the back end of the season... Is it top six or four who qualify for the play offs? Either way, you would expect Poole to be in the play offs and enter them with a team that could quite conceivably win the final...2 points

Plymouth have announced main team title sponsors for 2022 season. Westcolour, who are one of the largest mailing and fulfilment companies in the UK. The team will be known as the Plymouth Westcolour gladiators. Fantastic news and well done.2 points

Its been announced its at Oxford august 12th, the night before the GP So if you want to plan ahead So a heads up for anyone wanting to book accomodation, Premier Inn Cowley a 10 minute walk from stadium Holiday Inn Express and Hampton by Hilton both by the Kasstad and 20 minute walk from stadium There are newly opened Premier Inns in the Citycentre and Botley which is just off the A34 Both on very regular bus routes which will get you to a couple of minutes walk from the stadium , you'll have to change in the Citycentre if going from Botley. From Citycentre all you need is a return ticket from Botley a daypass to cover all bus operators, currently £3.80 return or £4.30 for a day pass Theres a Travelodge on the Abingdon rd, and a Jury's hotel in Wolvercote Obviously lots of other hotels and BnB's around from very expensive to very cheap, ive just chosen big chain hotels that are normally not a rip off price to let anyone who wants to book well in advance know about1 point

Can't imagine Mulford wanting to make a 800 mile roundtrip to a weekend track, when he could be cleaning up in the local weekend grasstrack meetings.1 point

Nope. They should be mentioning names like Verge. James Jessop and Richard Andrews cause thats the sort riders that will end up being signed1 point

tracks like BV sort the 4 out on track from rider to racer. big track should be more common1 point

Poole went through the whole 2021 season unbeaten at home from their starting 1-7 to the 1-7 that lifted both trophies!! Good from start to finish I'd say.............1 point

Nobody knows how a rider will or will not perform. A rider can be fantastic one season but then drop off the next. It happens all the time. A rider can look good in Poland, Sweden, Denmark or Australia etc. and then come over to the UK and struggle. That happens all the time. Just two examples of many why Poole have dropped under performing riders in recent years. You're talking utter nonsense and obviously have no grasp of speedway, so I kindly suggest you stop posting as you're making yourself look even more stupid upon every post.1 point

Wow. Logged in during lunch hour to escape from work, then got sucked right back into it reading these posts lol. Anyway, new sponsor onboard & fixtures are oot! What a time to be alive! Who has planned their roadtrip yet? Put their holidays in already? Ive already penciled in the dates that I will not be speaking to the Mother In Law (Glasgow fan)1 point

Have Edinburgh forgotten that they have an NDL team? Danny Phillips, Tom Woolley and George Rothery haven't been signed anywhere else, so it seems a near certainly that they're back. Would expect the Millars back too, so why can't they name those 5? They need a heat leader, and Willie Lawson would fit the bill. Alternatively maybe Benji Compton? Either of those would leave room for a sub 5.00-pointer like Josh Embleton. What's taking so long?1 point

Fixtures got nothing to do with BSP Ltd. The Promoters compile a "wish" list BUT it is a guy from Edinburgh that compiles the final list.1 point
-
We have no idea why you started talking about PLCs. But you did. You brought up Public Limited Companies when you lied, claiming to have run one. You seemed to think it made you some kind of expert on company law, when in fact it just exposed your lack of knowledge when you were found out. Ever heard the expression "When you're in a hole, stop digging"?1 point

I agree... someone can create something under Nora Speedway... that will be just perfect...... We stage "real speedway" thank you...real speedway that includes youth racing at every meeting, real speedway races at every meeting with other categories, real speedway that includes new rules for the benefit of the sport as a whole, real "inclusive" speedway.... real speedway full stop actually.... but then I like passing, action, characters, interaction, shale, and so on... so we have "real speedway" and the Islanders were defunct some 7 years or so ago1 point

He ended on 7.78 which is high enough but he was riding around heat leader level so i did expect him to be fixed up somewhere. I think his commitment to grasstrack probably made him unpopular with weekend tracks and left few options. Still thought he was a better bet than Hopwood at Oxford for example but maybe a deal suiting both sides couldn't be done.1 point

Last 12 matches he averaged 3.18 (exc bonus) maybe there's your reason. (He looked great when I saw him but that was in a brief purple patch in July/Aug)1 point

Tungates well liked at belle Vue, his performances and passing at home was a joy. Away from NSS, well.......... I always say it's home where we loose the most matches and loose any 2 legged ties. So getting some homies is the way to go for belle Vue1 point

Things that fester too long in the same place go stale. That had happened with the Worrall's at Belle Vue. If he'd have returned, Cooke would have filled that 7-8 rider gap nicely.1 point

LOL... NO, no, no A PLC is a "Public Limited Company".... A company which offers shares to the public via the stock market. Think you've just proved you haven't "run a PLC" Ltd.1 point
-
It appears to be a Ltd which makes it a private limited company. That doesn't make it a PLC A PLC designates a company that has offered shares of stock to the general public. The buyers of those shares have limited liability. Meaning, they cannot be held responsible for any business losses in excess of the amount they paid for the shares.1 point

There's no way I can agree with this. Almost 50% of the fixtures are Island Masters (the same riders in each?) or 3TT (the same teams?). Flat track racing and grass track bikes on shale does nothing for me. Just glad it's not my local team.1 point

That's a bit ripe coming from a Brummie fan with their renowned track prep....just saying1 point

OK so why are they so poor at putting teams together at the beginning of the season that major changes are needed every year?1 point

Shame for the fans, but I bet there's not many riders that will miss riding at Eastbourne...just saying1 point

Big gaps in home meetings, not good for building momentum, no KO cup fixture, no mention of championship pairs at Oxford prior to Cardiff GP either1 point

That would be the ideal scenario I imagine, especially if Flint does improve as expected but can remain there, more points, more confidence, more points money.1 point

I think Flint and Kemp will be at reserve all season. That doesn't mean they wont improve, just that it wont be enough to dislodge any of the top 5.1 point
