Poor Birmingham desperately need a number one. In fact I’d say their future and survival looks very bleak indeed without one. doesn’t seem right to me.4 points

Many would say that working together to keep the weakest link competitive has been the downfall of the sport3 points

Div 2 teams being too strong is the biggest single issue for the sport for me... Should have had a points limit for top three riders in each team to share the heat leaders around.. Even if the teams with the most money then pay over the odds to bring a new high assessed rider in it would still have freed up heat leaders that they couldnt accommodate.. Given the disparity between top and bottom in each team in Div 2, it makes sense for teams with cash to spend big on heat leaders, as the bottom end of the team wont be of a level to demand too much I would think, and would be very interchangeable as the season goes on.. Will they ever truly see that working together to keep your weakest link strong enough to compete is the only way forward?3 points

Always found Richard a good guy in his Glasgow days, still well thought of by majority of our supporters. Being the son of God might help that. He's just not the most entertaining rider, win a lot of races but not the best from the back3 points

rory always came across as a smashing guy when interviewed not sure about richard lawson cant warm to him2 points

I would tend to agree with arnieg but it does always come back to me that at u21 Savalas Clouting initially was performing similarly to Leigh Adams......2 points

No such thing as 100% sure but Lawson in particular is going to be choosy over who he does business with.2 points

He does want to ride in the uk but not yet. He has a team place in Poland already2 points

Yes don't think too much can be read in to those stats, riders develop at different stages in their career. Definitely a good prospect and a snip on his average.2 points

A 17 year old who's world under 21 final performances are, for his age, better than: Zmarzlik Dudek Pawlicki Janowski Kubera Smektala ...should do ok2 points

Always lively 'banter' on the terraces there, Steve! I could have been one of the fans you were having discussions with! Normally it was the Dons fans getting frustrated as the Witches were winning so easily! I enjoyed my visits to Plough Lane. In the 70's early 80's it was the polar opposite to Foxhall Heath. The stadium looked so smart. Always felt I should wipe my feet on entering! The racing was entertaining, good atmosphere on the steep terracing and I liked how compact and enclosed it was, again the total opposite to Foxhall. You could sense the history. Enjoyable as it was watching the customary tonking of the Dons back in 70's, I think the most fun was had though in the two seasons the Witches dropped down to the NL, 1989 and 90. The PA was always cranked up, Dave Lanning really got the crowd going and there were some superb meetings between the two teams. I think the Dons won them all! - but always tight. We would have a sweepstake amongst us as to which section of fence Moggo would take out first. Mind you, we did that everywhere...2 points

I don't understand the negativity from many regarding the King's Lynn team. Both Lawson & Pickering have shown they can score well in the Prem. Although in Pickering's case he'll have to do it from a harder position after racing at no 4 last year. Kildemand got his 7.1 ave in a far weaker league, so should be looking at 7.5 minimum. Jorgensen, Kerr & Worrall have all shown they can get a 5.5/6.0 ave as second strings, so whoever is at reserve should be the best reserve in the league in my opinion. While Thomas may not be the strongest RS in the league, he's not far behind & had his best season yet in 2021, so is clearly on the rise.2 points

Twenty years ago I would have been one of them... However, as usual, we had a fractured, halfway house, survival or the fittest/protect the weakest, muddled operating model with zero clear direction of where the sport was going, nor vision of what it was going to be... Nowadays you would have to think that having as many tracks (who are left), geographically around the country is 100% vital to at least try and keep some recognition of the sport by reasonably sized conurbations..1 point

A map on Facebook from the Star showing the teams competing that season. 12 still running, 25 closed. Plus Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Redcar, Plymouth are now running. Hardly any southern teams left now. Oxford return.1 point

Averages don't lie,Morris is ok Shane's is a danger to himself and every rider in the same race imo. Has he ever done a meeting without crashing.1 point
-
Agree with all of that. A top rider in division 2 should then progress to number 7 in division 1 and carry on climbing the ladder. it’s farcical that Edinburgh 2nd heat leader is also number 1 for kings Lynn in the premiership1 point
-
I remember him talking to a old lady in a wheelchair once, so nice of him to take time to do that in the middle of a meeting and it obviously brightened up her day immensely1 point
-
I can't see them finding a rider on a higher ave than Auty. Gotta agree with Jimsboy here1 point
-
They have 4 averages, as does nielsen. So that gives you 3x strong reserves all year. You should be looking at 2x 6.00 men and a number 1 not pushing morris and shanes into main body1 point
-
Absolutely, it is an indication of potential - there is no guarantee that it will be fulfilled1 point
-
He is also currently signed up in Poland, Denmark and his homeland in Sweden - meaning by Polish rules, he is unable to ride in Britain even if he wanted to.1 point

He certainly has potential but you can’t afford to have a sub 3 point rider instead of Stefan Nielsen with a lack of heat leader strength it’s vital you have two super strong reserves.1 point

Must be a great inspiration to have Crump in the pits in whatever capacity....great move by Oxford...they seem to be ticking all the boxes so far as set up goes! You have Crump and Nicholls .... we have Rogers and Auty My only disappointment is that race night is a Wednesday ? not the best night IMO.1 point

We know that but the post I quoted suggested he was being paid a King's Ransom. Speedway seems to be full of people who allegedly know what everyone is and isn't being paid but they never, as my Old maths teacher would say, show their working out1 point

ok, to save the forum becoming overrun did anyone go to speedway prior to 1948 or can that award go to Hyam and we can all be done with it?1 point

Wrong again. The Belle Vue company directors are William Anthony Rice and Robin Simon Southwell. They're the people responsible for the club. But in more interesting matters, Blodorn looks like a decent signing. Good to see a young newcomer coming to British Speedway. He seems to be quite a prospect.1 point

Personally think you are worrying other nothing with Kemp! Last time he was at Poole he beat Basso twice and Hume.1 point

Kemp will do OK at reserve, but if the Cook’s don’t perform and improve,Kemp might find himself in Top 5.Pressure is on the Cook’s IMO.1 point

My money is on Flint to really become a top rider (7.00+ average) this season. He's great around the bigger tracks, really full throttle with little fear.1 point
-
Got to wish Oxford a successful season, but it seams to be an expensive side and team manager, hope the crowds come back to make it a success. Will try and make a trip down from deepest Cumbria1 point

What a thread.... Have never read so much babyish bickering in all my life. Its embarrassing.1 point
-
This thread just isn't interesting at all. Nothing to do with Poole speedway now, or what their team is going to be, or their plans for 2022. It's just a lot of people bickering and arguing, how boring. I feel sorry for any of the Poole fans who have an actual interest in their club.1 point

Speedway Fans - we need to move forward not do the same old things also speedway fans - why did that club try something new surely a wee article on their website would have sufficed1 point
