What a thread.... Have never read so much babyish bickering in all my life. Its embarrassing.8 points

This thread just isn't interesting at all. Nothing to do with Poole speedway now, or what their team is going to be, or their plans for 2022. It's just a lot of people bickering and arguing, how boring. I feel sorry for any of the Poole fans who have an actual interest in their club.5 points

Poole fans : basso only went to Glasgow for the money Also Poole fans: Lawson and Kemp reneged on deals with other clubs not for the money3 points

Over zealous security guards at Brum confescated some poor old biddys packet of humbugs coz they classed it as food.Lord help when some little scroat comes through the entrance chomping on a packet of peppa pig sweets or has a pk of midget gems nowadays3 points

spot on. It's very hard for any promotion to make money if they don't control and get benefit of food and drink and other perks such as hospitality. It's even harder if they get zero co-operation from Landlords which afflicts a number of Clubs to the detriment of customer service and encouraging first time or infrequent visitors to come back. Even harder if Landlords seem to bend over backwards to be awkward or even sabotaging initiatives before they can deliver any benefit as some clubs have found out over the years. Having some bone-head security man confiscating water bottles from kids as an example! Do it all yourself if you can seems to be the best model but the start up costs are much higher. Glasgow, Leicester; Scunthorpe; Plymouth good examples of how having control of income streams can deliver a good and affordable product , I'm sure there are others and hopefully Workington / Northside will soon join them.3 points

Lots of us like to read about old riders. And the biographies of this random set of old riders are a mere click away. Nice and neatly stored here:- http://www.speedwaymuseumonline.co.uk/riders profiles.html Easy to read for everyone. What people get fed up with is someone stupidly cutting and pasting every word from every page of a website onto here. All it needed was the original link to http://www.speedwaymuseumonline.co.uk/riders profiles.html in one post. And then people could read all they want and discuss any memories to their hearts content. And the stupid cutting and pasting isn't done through ignorance or lack of knowledge. The perpetrator has been told enough times. It's purely done to be disruptive.3 points

Why? It wont be the team you finish with some form of manipulation will occur at some point2 points

Us quiet Bears supporters are just surfing all the messages from other teams, then when the season starts, we will be happy to have a speedway team to entertain us. Strong top 5 but I have always said reserves win matches, and ours are not the strongest pairing, but we will enjoy what we have. I hope its a good safe season for all those who take part.2 points

I said it last week the only way is to ignore the trolls, lasted for about an hour, it will be the only way it'll go away or it will just keep going on all season. Hard to do I know, but just reply to the proper speedway posts, unless there's a few of you Poole fans who enjoy it as much as the 2 or 3 thread spoilers on here.2 points

Well decent looking team, 'big names' involved, feelgood factor in it being a phoenix for the ashes, this should mean an excellent start to the season. However, it will need serious and sensible heads to build on this foundation and I hope that is going to be the case. The quality of the racing on offer (and that doesn't mean a home win every match) will be important. The race night has to run smoothly, the riders need to turn up regularly and they need to get the supporters feeling valued. Last season I went to Leicester and I felt it was well run and the people involved were friendly and helpful - I am sure it's not the only club like that. Oxford would do well to look at the clubs that have retained their support and take some lessons. Oxford needs to be a success for the whole sport not just one city. Speedway needs a good story for next season after the problems it has had recently. I'm looking forward to being a fan again!2 points

All good thanks, just got out of habit of posting on here, in fact I hardly checked things out on here for a while, close season, loss of interest etc. But now the season is getting closer I`m looking forward to getting back to track side for what could be a half decent season given how the Berwick team is shaping up, one signing to go of course.2 points

No Bob. It just seems that posting about miscellaneous riders is the thing to do on here at the moment. I didn't want to feel left out...2 points

Dammit! I forgot about him! He was never a world-beater, but he was surprisingly decent. He averaged just under 5 in his first year at Newport, and the next three he averaged from 6.39 to 7.29. Very good second-string, verging on heat-leader in 1979.1 point

More than one fan has said it for the money. Which btw I'm not trying to make trouble about, he's not coming for the weather lol. My main point was that all riders mentioned are going for the money, it's s short career that could end tomorrow1 point

I think his crash at Wolverhampton knocked the stuffing out of him so he realised it's still a young man's game. I honestly think he will still race a few meetings in Australia but not State titles etc to scratch his itch. I'm definitely in the remember him on the top of his game camp as opposed to seeing him being beaten by youngsters chasing the dream. As a manager he can maybe give so much advice to the team that it has to be a good move.1 point

I wouldn't bother there a real sensitive bunch. They will soon get personal because they know they cant actually argue there points. They genuinely believe there rubbish1 point

Hate to burst your bubble but riders dont ride for Poole because of this imaginary prestige you think you have.. they ride there because poole pay above what others are willing to, nothing wrong with that by the way lets not pretend Lawson ditched Plymouth because he just couldnt turn down Poole!! What he couldnt turn was a much bigger pay packet1 point

Why would a stadium that sells its own food and drink allow you to bring your own? It’s a common and expected practice in most stadiums, or any establishment like a pub or restaurant for example. Would you expect to take your own beer to a pub?1 point

Its very easy to down cry riders, have they been given the right support or opportunities? They are trying their best and should be applauded for the time and effort being put in. On a foot note, how long and how many times was Ivan Mauger given numerous opportunities before his success? Was Charles Wright an overnight sensation? Both were given time to blossom and so they flourished!!1 point

He was one of the best few riders I've ever seen, and definitely the fastest at Arlington, and his races with Nicki still stick in the memory ( faster rider vs a better racer)but I think last season shows age catches up with everyone and personally I'd rather remember him in his prime and hopefully he'll make a great manager.1 point

Sigvart Pedersen appeared only twice in the Norwegian Final, finishing eight in 1977 and fourth in 1978 He was third in the Norwegian Pairs Final of 1978 (with Thoralf Holen, representing NMK Grenland) He scored one point in his only appearance for Norway in the World Team Cup of 19781 point

I agree in the main but the crux seems to be that the stadium owners don't want to collaborate with the speedway side of things. I know that Peter Mason and Laurence have had a reasonable relationship with the stadium owners but not enough to really help the Brummies move forward as they would like. Being a promotor must be an absolute thankless task and I don't think anyone will put in as much time and effort as Laurence has done recently1 point

It's the amount of new cut and paste postings in one go that causes the issues. Could you consider putting them up on the anniversary of the riders passing or their birthday. A more appropriate time for reflection.1 point

Much like every post you make on every thread. At least you and Foreverblue have stopped with the personal attacks for today, sure it wont last.. Anyway Pooles next rider will probably be someone who has had money thrown at them after agreeing terms elsewhere.1 point

Exactly simply ignore or mute them!!! Next signing to be announced next week, it will be a matter of which one now.1 point

At Birmingham, the lessees, AIM, control the (overpriced) food and drink: and they won't let you bring your own! And the pick up truck went years ago. In fact, the promotions have been trying all the suggestions made here for some years.1 point

I don't think that is true, we comment on other threads and personally have many chats about other teams without issue. I very much doubt many fans of other current clubs have any issues with Poole fans.1 point

Might have a point if there was any truth to this. But trolls don't often tell the truth.1 point

Well, I googled "people who went to speedway in 1946" and it brought up this Indian version of wikipedia See Here1 point

It doesn’t matter how you say it, your spelling and grammar you use. It’s the content and aggressive meaning of your posts that angers. Which is obviously your intent. Sorry but you can’t then play the emotional card if you continue to throw stones. That often contains your desire to lose another Speedway club.1 point

Reference the poor crowds in 2007 Oxford started the season under Colin Horton some teams named top heavy sides preventing Oxford having no number one and a poor team Colin withdrew mid season and Alan Trump kept the Conference team going. Alan was prepared to run the next season (I think in the 2nd tier), but was stopped by the stadium owners GRA who did not want the stadium to be succesful so they could justify building houses. Thanks to lots of hard work by speedway, greyhound fans and supportive MP'S and councilors we are in the situation we are now. The new leaseholder is certaintly making moves to ensure that speedway and the stadium has the best chance of succeding.1 point

Should add 5% at least motivation to the riders having someone with that as your TM. I know in my team I sometimes feel we're losing about 10%! Lol Don't get the obsession on here with "rumours" of what other teams pay their riders. It's up to them and must be based on some sort of business plan. If and when that proves wrong then criticise but before that hardly see the merit in it. Also, as I understand it's the stadium owner whose running things, so no rent. So will have more available to pay riders than those who have rents to pay.1 point
