  1. Matt Ford told me last week that he was hopeful of the rent issue being sorted shortly after Christmas. As soon as he had received written confirmation which had been delayed due to 'people being away on holiday'. I would expect the rider announcements to begin thereafter. It'll be very interesting to see the football club's stadium plans next month as well as the BCP Council's revised 'big plan' to regenerate various areas of the conurbation with reduced housing targets. The previous Poole Council had earmarked a section of the Poole Stadium Car/Lorry park and vacant office block backing onto Wimborne Road for housing development, which could have been achieved without having any major impact on the Stadium itself.

  2. Depressing indeed to find that a hard core of so-called supporters seem to be revelling in Poole's current difficulties. I wish the club well and hope that these problems can be overcome - and I don't doubt that this is also the wish of the big majority, regardless of which other team has their allegiance.

  6. We’ve had big names in the past didn’t really pull in fantastic crowds remember Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall in the same team??? Also having a big number 1 doesn’t guarantee squat

  7. Unlike others I don’t have a problem with Heeps, I like watching him. I’ve more of a problem with Starke. Nothing personal as he comes across as a lovely lad, but unlike Heeps I don’t find him the least bit entertaining and he’s never going to get any better than he is now. Ok, some say the same about Heeps where improvement is concerned, but at least Heeps is a racer and entertains. Using the points available and getting a rider above Heeps’ 5 point average thus getting him down at reserve, was the way to go IMO. I also still believe there’s a point increase in Cam’s average.

  8. He got rider of the night a few times because he scored decent points and rode well for a spell, particularly at reserve, not in my view because he was entertaining. No problem with anyone disagreeing, that’s what opinions are all about. My main gripe is more with Louis than Starke. Either of Heeps or Starke stick out like a sore thumb in this team because of the wasted points that should never have happened. Of the two, it’s Starke who shouldn’t be in this team for me, Heeps down at reserve and a better rider than both in the main body.

  9. BWD was scoring well early in the H18TORY season for Workington as an injury replacement, got injured next couple of season, then due to you know, what found it very difficult to fly from New Zealand, now he should be over the injuries, suggest he will do ok, probably better away from home than at (b) rough park. Yes Newcastle not the most exciting team BUT you still have speedway, so best support it will you can

  11. https://speedwayteams2022.blogspot.com/ I've created the above which has all known squads for all Continental European Speedway nations (note - UK is NOT included) as at present. It also features all known fixtures for 2022. This is not meant to be in any way a rival to the stellar work done by R&R, it's simply another option for people to have.

  12. Well we have the troll Trackrat and the so called speedway fan Lewy from Plymouth who are clearly not speedway supporters. No decent fan would want to see any club fold but it is obvious this is exactly what these two want. Should have their sorry arses kicked of this forum imo.

  20. I would think that some refurbishment of the Grandstand would be necessary for the Referee/Greyhound Starters room to be operative.

  21. I like Starke and do find him entertaining but I’d swap him and use the 1.88 points left over for a 6 pointer which would put heeps at reserve that would change the team from a decent team to a championship winning team.

  22. Highly unlikely that a sponsor could be found to provide £2k+ per point aka Poland. However matching Swedish pay rates (& paying them) is far more likely.

  23. BWD should score well in the Championship until he gets hurt, unfortunately that’s his Achilles heel he gets injured regularly. But whilst he is fit and well I don’t see a problem.

  24. Poole definitely were not the strongest on paper. Won double mostly due to a mid season change in my opinion. Start of season Redcar and Eastbourne I believe were labelled best on paper as I remember, Poole were labelled too top heavy

  26. What strikes me as quite alarming, is the fact that the internet and social media in particular have gained in popularity over the years whilst this forum is getting quieter and quieter by the month. The winter months on here used to be full of discussions, anticipation for the new season and new signings etc... nowadays it really is flat on here barring a few threads.

  30. But it did work, at least for the first several years of the British League from 1965. The fifteen to twenty years after '64 were the most successful that I ever experienced, good crowds, an abundance of strong British riders coming through and top riders from other countries regularly riding. The last few years of the old National League in the 1960s is a bit similar to what's happening in the Premier League now. Ever decreasing teams competing, dwindling interest and fans picking and choosing when they attend. Pity we don't have someone to impose their presence, reorganise the league, allocate riders and create a credible structure that could be sold to sponsors. The product is still very accessible but the organisation around it lacks all credibility I'm afraid. .

  32. I'm sure we will have speedway next year .but long term who knows .we must remember it was Poole council who had the agreement there had to be two sporting activities on the site but the council is now a combined council in which Bournemouth hoid all the cards I would not trust the council on this one jmo of course

  33. So, with the signing of Connor Coles, it looks like initial thoughts are correct, and Leicester are going with:- Dan Thompson 10.17 Joe Thompson 8.52 Connor Coles 6.04 Tom Spencer 5.53 Mickie Simpson 3.62 Vinnie Foord 3.00 Max Perry 3.00

  34. Yea speedway in a pickle too many people in charge with self interest, but where did the big crowds go too, and how do they get attracted back ? Just got to look at the channel 5 documentary birds bikes and blokes with Workington featured, massive crowds home and away, but in 2018 even for the last few meetings when trophies were won, the crowds weren't anywhere near those in the documentary. God only knows how to solve it, as some of the promoter's and sponsors with deep pockets will get sick and walk away, then where will speedway be? May have to revert the 2nd league to be part time like it was in the 70's, 80's and early 90's.not having young riders wanting to do it full time with a nice van umpteen bikes and full time mechanic.

  35. Another team built on the cheap again? Paul stark is good signing, was hoping this team would be refreshed. how you gunna attract new folk to come watch when you sign up riders from 10 or so years ago? Why not the 70’s! Good speedway is back but same old side! would have been better if you signed an actual number 1 and built around there.

  40. If Smith was an out and out NDL number 1 he wouldn't have been available on a 6.5 average mid season, that said looking back over his scores he did perform extremely well at home and solid away so either has a new higher average or will get one soon. JPB is no doubt talented but don't bite the hand that feeds you, although if he had Smiths level of equipment and some application he could be riding top tier by now (so in my humble opinion he is a wasted talent). Ablitt has had backing and ability since he was a nipper and it was clear then he would go on to better things, Belle Vue will suit him and if he stays grounded i expect a big year from him. The clever way the team has been built is that there will always be a strong reserve which is ever important, i still think this team will be in the play offs but handing them the trophy is a bit much.

  42. Bearing in mind that Oxford have no recent crowd attendances to go by, they've taken on some reasonably big earners in Nicholls and Batchelor without knowing how many fans will turn up on a regular basis to balance the books. Its great that we have another club back racing but can it be made viable?
