  1. Poole WILL BE RUNNING NEXT SEASON FOR SURE.

  2. I for one wish for Poole to continue anyone who wants a club to close is certainly not a speedway fan and the previous comments are spot on .

  4. Are you serious?? They're birds of a feather. Name me one thing Sturgeon and her hubby did differently from the clowns down south (apart from locking Scotland down even harder than England - with no discernible results - and smashing the economy even more). And 'posh boys'? Lol. You think the likes of Nicola Sturgeon and Patrick Harvey were born in the ghetto? Don't be fooled by the "my mother was a seamstress" rhetoric from the likes of Labour and the SNP. They genuinely hate the working class.

  5. I'm pretty sure dog trials are nothing to do with testing stadium facilities and the safety of the equipment. Trials are run to assess the ability and form of the greyhound, so that they can be graded into the correct class of race. I think every racing greyhound has to complete 3 trials before they can race at a track.

  6. Ok, hope you had a good xmas, and have a happy new year. Back to speedway.

  7. Hopefully this time you're right as your last 100% sure assertion was that the failure to name a 1-7 or even a rider was nothing to do with rent negotiations... Let's hope and all genuinely hope this guess ages a bit better! I can't see Wimborne Road Stadium staging soccer again anyway without massive redevelopment as no one wishes to watch non league soccer in a glass fronted restauranted eating prawn sandwiches. I would imagine any redevelopment there would be housing/office space with developers finding another piece of land for Speedway but even that seems far fetched.

  10. Team looks good, but not a league winning team unless the second strings and reserves up their averages significantly, in my opinion. The fact we also don’t have a massive home track advantage, most visiting riders love coming to Redcar, makes it difficult also. But we will see some good speedway at least.

  11. Expect that cynical extra £9 billion from Westminster may have helped I imagine. Like I say not a fan of either, but Sturgeon is cynical as well, once the pandemic is over, she'll be banging on about independence again, as I say all a bad bunch.

  13. Coles should be a minimum of a 7.0 man in the NL, so if he can ride to his potential should be a great signing! That being said, he must be on a 6.0 ave for a reason, which in the weakest NL ever wasn't a great achievement for him!

  16. I have a one on my showbike and I used to have it at Brough for fans to try and beat the riders. From memory I think Carl Wilkinson was a dab hand at it.

  17. I’m not an SNP apologist by any stretch but they have conducted themselves much better than Boris and his cronies. The SNP had one MP and one civil servant break COViD rules (that we’re aware of) and they were sacked. Compare that to the circus being conducted at Tory HQ/no.10.

  18. If we are counting the UK nations separately, I think I have 21 for Edinburgh (22 if I cheat a little bit!) Argentina Fernando Garcia Australia Sam Masters Austria Alfred Sitzwohl Czech Republic Jiri Stancl Jnr Denmark Frede Schott England Les Collins Estonia Rene Aas Finland Kalle Katijisto Germany Kevin Wolbert Hungary Jozsef Tabaka Italy Stefano Alfonso Netherlands Theo Pijper New Zealand Wayne Briggs Norway Reidar Eide Poland Dariusz Fliegert Scotland William Lawson South Africa Byron Bekker Sweden Tomas Jonasson USA Mike Faria Wales Glyn Taylor Zambia James Hayhow Zimbabwe Dave Steen EDIT 1 - Oops...Hit submit a bit quick there. The cheat one is Glyn Taylor as he really had Aussie nationality, but was born in Wales, as far as I know. Riders on the list were just randomly selected when multiple from the same nation had ridden. No suggestion that these were the best from each nation I may have forgotten someone or got a Nationality wrong EDIT 2 - I forgot Rene Aas.

  21. Can't see Ipswich anywhere near the top, at the moment they look a very weak team. If Batchelor, Riss & Heeps improve I'd say it's possible they could make the top 4, but not finish top.

  29. Yes the land behind the Marsham Arms at Hevingham where Cyril Crane staged an unlicensed meeting with junior riders around Xmas time in 1976 and had plans to introduce 2 Division racing is still not developed. What stopped it was the poor entrance to the venue on a main road in front of a virtual blind bend where vehicles are going fast onto where vehicles would turn into the venue and speedway and Council authorities being unimpressed by Cyrils total disregard to rules. Shame cause at the time it would have worked as a 1970's National League venue with Norwich being a hotbed of speedway interest and Cyrils competence/experience in building and running speedway tracks. The venue had the potential to be improved/expanded and progress to the British League with Norwich's and Norfolks large catchment area. It could still be turned into a speedway venue but that would take bravery when taking into account speedways decline/ageing fanbase, big finances and a thick skin to battle those already involved in the sport, namely current tracks nearest to Norwich who'd see speedway returning to Norwich as a major threat to their crowd levels. - Personally I don't think that many fans from the Norwich and East Norfolk area go to speedway at King's Lynn, Ipswich or Mildenhall so a new Norwich speedway set up wouldn't have a negative effect on their attendance levels. The best place for speedway to return to Norwich would be at the Norfolk Showground on the outskirts of the City but as another poster points out, after the last attempts there nearly a decade ago Showground owners, the Norfolk Agricultural Society would need assurances any prospective promotors would actually be able to afford to do it! I live in hope I'll see speedway again in my home City but I'm getting on so I won't be able to live in hope for too much longer!!!

  30. I've said for a while that the BSPZzz should adopt the American sports business model, and become the sports promotion organisation that oversees all clubs. Existing promoters would be co-shareholders according to their contribution into the pot and "franchisees" for their original teams. If that were to happen then the risks would be shared, as would the rewards. Not to mention the abolishment of self centred attitudes. That said, I'd still venture to guess that finding a venue these days, is a whole site easier than finding 7 or 8 additional riders to make up a competitive team.

  31. Cant agree. Nicola Sturgeon has worked tirelessly for the past two years, keeping the nation's head above water in the face of vindictive and cynical actions by the lying and cheating Westminster posh,-boys. IMO.

  32. What has the world done to deserve such s**t leaders, in this country with Sturgeon and Johnson, USA's choice of Trump or Biden, the short Frenchman plus many others. Ultimately 'we' vote them in, but it's either not vote or a choice of useless candidates. I know it's almost a no win situation at the moment, but we all deserve better.

  33. Because titles aren’t won on paper and Redcar fans don’t get carried away on forums , they are just happy to have a good team, a great track and an improving set up. A strong team, same as last season , certain to be in the play offs but you need luck , no injuries and form at the right time to win titles. Good to see them giving two young British lads the reserve spots.

  34. I don't think anywhere has more restrictions than Scotland. Sturgeon is round the bend (I'm no fan of Boris or Drippy D for that matter) and i'm fully expecting this latest three week masterplan of hers to turn into another 6 month cock-up same as last year and nobody in Scotland will be able to get into the stadiums until the season is half over.

  35. If the Thompsons need to improve their gating skills as Mr Dickson has said, why not hire someone highly experienced and still currently riding such as Chris Harris to give them regular tuition during the winter. I think he lives near to Leicester so that would be an ideal arrangement

  38. Personally, I don't see a great difference in being a shareholder to being a stakeholder, so it will make no difference to my wish to be a contributer. I've no desire to see details of accounts or look for, or expect any kind of dividend, so if others think they should, and prefer to opt out, then that is their perogative - and everyone should bear in mind the fact that Birmingham Speedway have not yet asked anyone to send them any money - so no one has been "conned." Whilst we are all entitled to our opinions, in my view, the title of this topic is in itself offensive and should be changed.

  39. can't find the form to hand now but i think your user name is pretty accurate. The form clearly stated that it was just "fun shares" and effectively just a way of raising funds for the club, the "shareholders" were never entitled to any voting rights, details of accounts, to have the shares brought back or dividends paid out. Put simply its a nice way for people to offer a little sponsorship into the club, get their name in the program and receive a certificate for their contribution. On a personal note i think the £100 minimum was a bit steep and stopped any further interest but for several who want to do their bit its a nice enough idea (providing the money gets spent correctly etc). Anyone who thought that for £100 they would be entitled to see full company accounts, have a say on how the club is run and potentially receive dividends should really be supervised when using computers and mobile devices and have the child locks firmly turned on.

  40. With being 17 years old & 2 years experience, I would say another year would help enormously whether too good or not. Gilkes is probably another who could & I would have said Palin could have, also, if he could have rode 3 leagues as the top league could have set him back. Yes, people will say if you're good enough then ok but I think you need that bit of experience & learning behind you before taking that step further. The Fast Track in the Elite(Premiership) proved that a few years back. The Poles seem to have been doing ok this last 5 years or more keeping youth at reserve & now taking it a step further with the U24 league which will benefit all nationality of youth riders.

  42. The title of this topic is NOT an opinion -it is an accusation that Birmingham Speedway are using deceitful methods to extract money from supporters. At best it is a slight on a group of people who have worked hard to keep the club afloat and at worst it is a slanderous comment. Everyone who has agreed to contribute to Birmingham's scheme, be it called a shareholding, a stakeholding or whatever, is well aware of the terms of acceptance - as indeed have been the people (including myself) who have contributed to Cradley Heath's admirable Supporters' Trust ( even if technically it perhaps shouldn't be thus described). Freedom of expression and personal opinions are one thing, but to be deliberately and sneeringly offensive is not acceptable - and the title of this topic is just that - and should be removed.
