Personally, I don't see a great difference in being a shareholder to being a stakeholder, so it will make no difference to my wish to be a contributer. I've no desire to see details of accounts or look for, or expect any kind of dividend, so if others think they should, and prefer to opt out, then that is their perogative - and everyone should bear in mind the fact that Birmingham Speedway have not yet asked anyone to send them any money - so no one has been "conned." Whilst we are all entitled to our opinions, in my view, the title of this topic is in itself offensive and should be changed.6 points

Merry Christmas to all supporters out there hope all clubs that start the season manage to keep going.5 points

The title of this topic is NOT an opinion -it is an accusation that Birmingham Speedway are using deceitful methods to extract money from supporters. At best it is a slight on a group of people who have worked hard to keep the club afloat and at worst it is a slanderous comment. Everyone who has agreed to contribute to Birmingham's scheme, be it called a shareholding, a stakeholding or whatever, is well aware of the terms of acceptance - as indeed have been the people (including myself) who have contributed to Cradley Heath's admirable Supporters' Trust ( even if technically it perhaps shouldn't be thus described). Freedom of expression and personal opinions are one thing, but to be deliberately and sneeringly offensive is not acceptable - and the title of this topic is just that - and should be removed.4 points

I reported it last night and made the same request. Can only assume Admins were tipsy already by then... Needs taking down, false and misleading accusations tend to gain credibility as keyboard idiot(s) know.2 points

The request is in... let's see what happens... Regards A rather tipsy but not yet drunk THJ2 points

I have it on good authority that getting more money didnt enter in to it... I believe it was solely down to him wishing to sample the different Covid regulations in Scotland..2 points

can't find the form to hand now but i think your user name is pretty accurate. The form clearly stated that it was just "fun shares" and effectively just a way of raising funds for the club, the "shareholders" were never entitled to any voting rights, details of accounts, to have the shares brought back or dividends paid out. Put simply its a nice way for people to offer a little sponsorship into the club, get their name in the program and receive a certificate for their contribution. On a personal note i think the £100 minimum was a bit steep and stopped any further interest but for several who want to do their bit its a nice enough idea (providing the money gets spent correctly etc). Anyone who thought that for £100 they would be entitled to see full company accounts, have a say on how the club is run and potentially receive dividends should really be supervised when using computers and mobile devices and have the child locks firmly turned on.2 points

In a straight race its James every time and in all fairness he has been due chances above others for the past few seasons. Surely the decisions should be whos better end of not whos younger? If its a straight fight in ability then fair enough but far too many riders get signed being young rather than good. Personally never seen anything in Meadows to think he is anywhere close to NDL standard and more MDL mid order rider. And Eli is from Worcester area.1 point

To be honest this is probably the year when Kinsley if he has ambition in the sport has to show improvement, let’s hope so.1 point

well said, I do hope that this post hasn't put people off supporting the club next season.. It should be either renamed or deleted IMHO1 point

The originator of this thread is well named ... why do people have to be so miserable? Unless he is deliberately trolling, which is quite likely.1 point

Yes i agree it would cause problems, it did work in the past, remember when they use to put the corners down, hopefully the track could be moved out enough soes not to have to do that1 point

Think you got that wrong , Anders wiped Stoney out at Sheffield and Stoney chased him with a shovel. i remember the 1999 season anders and frank smart ended up 3&4 for newport and Anders out gated Stoney. Stoney was all over him like a rash but the minute hed of made a move, Smartey would of been through. Superb action. Always loved Anders as a Wasp fan but Stoney was awesome entertainment. i will add , in my long time as a Wasp fan, Stoney was prob the opponent i always looked forward to riding at newport as far as opponents go. Superb style , awesome rider, panto villain and a top bloke. Awesome stuff1 point

Maybe the smooth talking Laurence could persuade one of the following to make another go of Speedway in the Uk, Mason Campton, Lewis Rose, Victor Palovaara or even the Zak Wajtknect who would probably put a few bums on seats as he was well liked when he rode for the Brummies, mind im fully expecting to see either Vissing or Adam Ellis announced as one of the Team for 2022.1 point

Didnt Poole get peeved off cos they said they'd work around his foreign commitments? He left cos Glasgow offered a big wad of cash , and cant blame either side. Glasgow have cash to offer and want an almost certain bargain averaged rider and Basso wants as much money as poss. No problem . But don’t come on here dressing it up as something else though .1 point

You might think it’s a woeful 1-7 and everyone is entitled to their opinion even ignorant Anti-Vaxcers like yourself but at least we have a team to support when for a long time it looked like we wouldn’t. Just ask any supporters from any of the teams that no longer run I’m sure they’d appreciate any team to shout for.1 point

Powell did all/most of the speedway meetings on the IOW last year and looked mightily impressive however he did represent Oxford and it wouldn't surprise me to see Powell, RTD and Coles all at Oxford this year. Wood gave speedway a good go but sadly never had the funding to make the most of his talents and it started to tell across his commitment levels. Powell adapted better than i thought he might and was probably a victim of averages / a little unlucky not to get a place when he was left out of the Eastbourne side. If Iwade get him on a 5 or even lower average he looks a bargain but i fear he will line up elsewhere this season.1 point

Whats he going to ride the track hire bike? I do find it a little disparaging that time after time names crop up that have been retired for a respectable amount of time and for multiple reasons. Its a little disrespectful to all the available riders with kit who are actively looking for team places. (to confirm thats not just at you Jimsboy but the ever growing list of posters living in the past)1 point

A rudderless ship without a suitable Captain, John, for far, far, too many years.. Crying out for someone to properly lead it... You only have to look at the threads for teams struggling to get a decent team together next year to see how ridiculous the whole operating model is.. The "collective" are desperate to keep as many clubs going as possible, (any Speedway must be seen as better than no Speedway), yet they dont ensure as a "collective" that every team has a fair chance of being successful. Yet they will use a supposed "team equality" mechanic which we all know to be far too subjective when it comes to previous riding numbers in the teams rode for, home track advantage of previous tracks, amount of meetings done, assessed averages depending on where you are from etc to be of any tangible accurate use.. Some teams next season in Division Two will, once again, have three heat leaders of a high level, (on a par with some in Div One given they will be the same riders), and other teams will end up with second strings having to take heat leader positions. The result? Well, we know that dont we? The teams using second strings as heat leaders will struggle at home and be dreadful away. However all will come to the tapes "relatively equal" and no doubt every team will talk up their side. "Strength in depth, always have a good reserve, all can put two points on their averages", etc etc etc.. What the "collective" (still after all these years of doing the same thing year in, year out), fail to grasp, is that unless EVERY track can be competitive then you will never move the sport organically forward... Getting visited by teams who are "cannon fodder" simply cannot be good for the host clubs business, yet they happily allow such things to happen... With the ultimate irony being that a few will throw hundreds of thousands of pounds into their teams to try and win something with only marginally more kudos than winning a meat raffle at the local British Legion. With the lack of kudos, financial rewards and publicity, all down to their very own operating model.. In short mate. No. The sport hasnt moved on.. (Over here).. In fact you would have to say that it has regressed a long, long way..1 point

There is no way Musielak will do a Batchelor. He’s a better calibre of rider on the whole for starters and a hugely consistent performer nowadays. Musielak will end up as one of the highest averages riders in the league I am pretty confident.1 point
