  1. can't find the form to hand now but i think your user name is pretty accurate. The form clearly stated that it was just "fun shares" and effectively just a way of raising funds for the club, the "shareholders" were never entitled to any voting rights, details of accounts, to have the shares brought back or dividends paid out. Put simply its a nice way for people to offer a little sponsorship into the club, get their name in the program and receive a certificate for their contribution. On a personal note i think the £100 minimum was a bit steep and stopped any further interest but for several who want to do their bit its a nice enough idea (providing the money gets spent correctly etc). Anyone who thought that for £100 they would be entitled to see full company accounts, have a say on how the club is run and potentially receive dividends should really be supervised when using computers and mobile devices and have the child locks firmly turned on.

  2. Personally, I don't see a great difference in being a shareholder to being a stakeholder, so it will make no difference to my wish to be a contributer. I've no desire to see details of accounts or look for, or expect any kind of dividend, so if others think they should, and prefer to opt out, then that is their perogative - and everyone should bear in mind the fact that Birmingham Speedway have not yet asked anyone to send them any money - so no one has been "conned." Whilst we are all entitled to our opinions, in my view, the title of this topic is in itself offensive and should be changed.

  3. It would be tragic if the speedway was lost, anyone there for the playoff final with vouch, what a crowd what an atmosphere. Simple solution, get the current lease holders out, move the track out, bring the football back, that way its used all year round

  6. Didnt Poole get peeved off cos they said they'd work around his foreign commitments? He left cos Glasgow offered a big wad of cash , and cant blame either side. Glasgow have cash to offer and want an almost certain bargain averaged rider and Basso wants as much money as poss. No problem . But don’t come on here dressing it up as something else though .

  11. There has been no change to the ownership of Buxton Speedway. For NL racing to resume there would need to be significant financial outlay not least the BSPL bond, higher insurance premiums and ongoing BSPL fees/SCB licences. The outgoings far outweighed the incomings which is obviously not sustainable for a business long term, hence why the decision was made to withdraw from league racing. Running training schools/experience days does not incur the same costs that league racing does and those participating are paying to do so instead of being paid.

  15. THJ The HSST were set up from the old Cradley Heathens supporters club, and were advised and guided by Supporters Direct then when HSST was formed we became a member of SD until the end of 2018 when SD merged https://www.thenews.coop/130902/sector/mutuals/supporters-direct-merge-football-supporters-federation/ with the FSF, and became more or less a Football focused organisation, HSST then continued on without being members of any organisation so maybe they now need to update who they are namewise and go back to being a Supporters Club which in essence is what they have always been but the thinking back in the day was that being a member of SD would bring them added benefits though Iv always wondered what they were.. Incidentally when I was a board member and HSST were members of SD we always had to submit our accounts to the FCA Iv no idea wether or not this is still the case.

  16. Not many were better out the gate than Anders. He had a right set of elbows on him into the first bend as well, as Phil Morris will confirm. Thats one of the things about him every one liked , all the so called dirty riders would come to Newport and he would sort them straight out. in his later years at Newport he progressed to being more than just a gater too and would often miss the gate and pick the opposition apart. Great days , the sport could do with more like him now for sure.

  20. Exactly. As I said, I would guess the confusion is with a "Charitable trust". A trust promoting motorsport (like the Heathens Speedway Supporters Trust) could never have charity status, since the Charity Commission stipulate that a charity encouraging involvement in sport has to show it is promoting health benefits.

  22. Honestly No you can't for Speedway and if I could be ars3d to go through it I would explain fully but I can't so believe what you want however we have been fully down this road with the Friends of Workington Speedway that was gonna be a Trust but ended up as a Supporters Club basically but the FOWS pumped thousands into Worky Speedway and became their largest sponsor after the promotion itself and the proposed Newcastle Supporters Trust that will probably end up a Newcasle Supporters Club but with a beefed up set of articles of association to make sure it's run a bit more proffesionally... When you get bored over Christmas do your homework... you can't have a Trust inputting into a Speedway Team... and yes the confusion is in the name that's why you should stay away from it... the next one will be let's start a Debenture and that is another one that confuses the B'Jesus out of folk... Regards THJ

  27. Think you got that wrong , Anders wiped Stoney out at Sheffield and Stoney chased him with a shovel. i remember the 1999 season anders and frank smart ended up 3&4 for newport and Anders out gated Stoney. Stoney was all over him like a rash but the minute hed of made a move, Smartey would of been through. Superb action. Always loved Anders as a Wasp fan but Stoney was awesome entertainment. i will add , in my long time as a Wasp fan, Stoney was prob the opponent i always looked forward to riding at newport as far as opponents go. Superb style , awesome rider, panto villain and a top bloke. Awesome stuff

  28. They have clearly jumped the gun with the initial announcement before getting proper advice. The stakeholders idea is fine although perhaps a supporters trust with some restrictions on how the money can be spent would be the way forward

  29. id put the letter on here but the file is to big ,this is what the letter has to say . Firstly, can i thank you on behalf of the directors of Birmingham speedway 2022 Limited for expressing an interest in becoming a shareholder and for support for the cluband us as new promotors. this is a very steep learning curve for us ,and we are under no illusions as to the task ahead if we are to try to make the club sustainable for the future. Unfortunately ,as part of this learning curve ,it appears that we were not well advised on setting up the company and the offer of shares. We have said all along thats it was our intention to be honest with our supporters and ,after a query was raised ,we spoke to a Company Law expert who advised that ,legally, it is an offence to advertise share in a private limited company (which is how Birmingham speedway 2022 has been set up )for sale .If we went ahead we could finds ourselves forced into being wound up in to a public limited company ,which is not an appropriate path for us to go down.We are bitterly dissappointed by this as we very much wanted our supporters to be able to own a small part of the club, but we need to do everything above board and it is not worth jeapordising the safety of the club to go down this path . Having said all that, your financial contribution is vitally important to us and we hope that you are still willing to be a stakeholder but as a "friend of Birmingham speedway" rather than a nominal shareholder.Anoffical list of stakeholders will be kept, acknowledgement made of your support in the programme(unless you would prefer to remain anonymous) and all theother benefits offered with the shareholding will remain the same including a family ticket to pass on to a new group of people (including pits visits and meet the riders ),a weekly draw to watch races from centre green ,discounted End of season Presentation Nights tickets and invitation to meeting at end of season to discuss how things have gone . Well thats the letter from the share offer

  37. If Jane and Buxton could find a way to run NDL in some format and not lose any money doing so, I'm sure everyone in the sport would be delighted and try to visit when they could. I equally think that what the IOW do, is testament more to the people running the Show there than necessarily the concept of what they are doing. I'm not sure supporters at some Clubs would appreciate it as much as it is appreciated for what it is at IOW e.g something outside the box, transformative and positive.

  38. I wouldn't really say they were BIG names but riders like Anders Thomsen, Oliver Berntzon and Jacob Thorsell would be very welcome and more realistic additions to British speedway than the big GP lads... Leon Madsen is currently without a Swedish team as far as I can see??? If we're talking really big names

  39. I no I give Poole fans some stick but I genuinely have no malice towards them as I have very fond memories of playing football against Poole. Town at Wimborne road about 30 years ago in the beazer homes league it always sticks in my mind because of the shape of the track you had to have artificial corners put in and that the fans could hardly see because they were so far away because of the greyhound track and the speedway track.but still fond memories, I do feel like you have been shafted by the owners of the stadium and over the basso situation but it feels just like we do over the Lawson thing I would like to wish all Poole fans a merry Christmas and your situation gets sorted so we can both renew rivalries next year. Good luck and stay safe all of you.

  46. Aaaaaarrrrrrgh ow ow ow eya eya eya the burn... the BURN... NURSE NURSE Get the Savlon... quick... Although Christmas is one of our busiest periods I cant let this go now can I and as busy as I am I will dignify you with a reply... Honestly... and after all it is Christmas Time... Peace on Earth and good will to all men and all that or in your case "Peese on You" Well now @Wee Eck is that really the best you can come up with... the sparkling wit and repartee of Wee Nonce Troll McTrollface states... that not only am I a waste of space but the biggest one that walks on the earth.. wow I'm hurt... really hurt... I mean "cut me do I not bleed" which as a saying from the Merchant of Venice will probably be wasted on a moron like your good self... although the meaning and context of using that statement is most apt in this situation... “In sooth, I know not why I am so sad.” “Let me play the fool.” “If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do, chapels had been churches, and poor men's cottages princes' palaces.” Brilliant eh? old Shakespeare could turn a phrase mind like eh... now that's a burn Eck... Whoosh... So you do a little digging to find out that in fact it is true on the VAT fiddle Johnnie English and the previous shower had been tarnished with was correct... but because you didn't believe what you were told you still persist in pushing your own little agenda against Rob Grant and Newcastle and that it is a fact that the previous Promotion left Rob Grant with "a debt to HMRC of £158,048" as you have since confirmed yourself... but that's the best you can come back with as a slight to my good self... well I am disappointed... just to expand on that point where do you think I get my information from... think now... not to hard cos straining like that might cause you to poop your pants... yes that's right the same place you have been trolling on the internet... however I used to get my information cross checked and authorised for posting by... go on... Think again... no? The Promotion... yep that's right before I put anything contentious on here it was vetted and checked for its accuracy by none other than the New Newcastle Promotion... If you are going to be a Troll Eck at least get your facts right and don't post details yourself that prove you are talking complete and utter Crepe as it takes the fun out of correcting you.... what are you doing? marking your own homework? what a Gobsh!te... Now where I am happy for you to have an opinion... don't try and qualify "your opinion" by saying that "your opinion" is "shared by many I know" because that is like all of your posts... just another made up sentence, an outright lie; something to try and add weight to a non-existent argument... you may wish to add on the end that "we've got a garden" "my brothers 21" and the other old classic "your dad is bigger than my dad" however coming back to my dad is bigger than your dad... I just wish my dad had of been gay because I would have loved to have had a gay dad. So when you do say, my dad's bigger than your dad, my dad will batter your dad! so what? my dad will shag your dad. and your dad will enjoy it. (and so would you Eck I am guessing) (Plagiarised from the brilliant Frankie Boyle)(you looking for the Savlon yet Eck) Now to be fair to be called the "biggest waste of space that walks the earth" is rather hurtful after all I do for charity through my business and for all the cash I have injected into Speedway over many years and especially when you see some of these Politicians and the Anti Vax brigade... wow... now that's what I would call a waste of space... however all I can say is there's not an emoji to express my heartfelt sorrow... but to be fair it is one of the cleanest insults I have had for a long while so thanks for that and it isn't as bad as being called a "Roger Hunt" or "Merchant Banker" that you must have been called on numerous occasions... and just to digress the one I dislike the most is the "illegitimate" word which brings your parentage into disrepute as I can confirm that I knew my father and both he and my mother were married and I was both conceived and born in wedlock... unlike you I would suggest... who is best described as "a file having teeth of a grade next finer than coarse" (bit of Google research needed for you there Mr Troll McTrollface just to keep it interesting so search on the line between the quotation marks). Negativity and Ignorance? well are you talking about yourself here as 1. I don't have a negative bone in my body and 2. how can you refer to someone who quotes famous Bards and refers to subjects in Latin as Ignorant; I try to educate morons like you on here and raise the tone and I certainly don't Troll the B'Jesus out of posters on here when there is a subject I disagree with and to be "Totally Honest" I have been known (sometimes) to put a long winded reply on here now and then (once or twice maybe) however I try to interject that with humour; fun facts and the truth; and as a Libertarian I don't believe in keeping secrets... or am I reading to much into your comments and that you consider me of having "Negative Ignorance" which is in fact a compliment as today Ignorance is actually a cool concept and more complicated than people like to ponder. For Example "As someone who grew up in a city I had negative ignorance of how to drive a tractor. My country spouse had negative ignorance about navigating public transportation. Both of us overcame those. Had I chosen to refuse to learn how to drive the tractor after I lived on a farm and had one that would have become privative ignorance. As in, I had the option, and wherewithal, to gather the information and I chose not to. Negative ignorance is when someone should not be reasonably blamed for not knowing something. however thinking about that... you are surely describing yourself in this instance you moron... So in your knowledgeable; expert; smart ass; wise cracking; snide opinion "Newcastle speedway is far better off since you were given the bum’s rush by its owner" well let me answer that little one liner and I will come back to the "apparently" at the end... You are using words which I doubt you have any idea of there context or meaning. Bum's Rush or "the bum's rush" is what would happen if a vagrant entered a saloon, hoping to take advantage of "the sometimes sumptuous free lunch counters, which were meant for drinkers only." The freeloader would be forcibly removed from the premises. Now are you suggesting for one minute that I am a "Freeloader" the man who with his pal funded the bar at Brough (for many a year)... I spent between £150 to £250 quid on food and drink every meeting last season at Brough as did my old pal Doug Lawson; both of us always happy to buy a pint (or drink of choice) and that was for anyone not just the mob I was socialising with... furthermore £4500 direct to the club and its riders last season... The promotion have put out already that they are looking for sponsors for riders to support them and if last year was to be repeated the club have lost that £3000 of direct support and the additional £1500 quid that went into last years riders so I would suggest it is the other way round and that I have given the club the "Bums Rush" rather than how you have tried to interpret it you illiterate moron... of course you could always take over this mantle if you wish and you put your money where your mouth is you Gobsh!te (and I will come back to this word later if I may)... Now what I will add is... that unlike the previous promotion who you so dearly loved and have supported on here with vim and vigour.. and with a pack of made up lies and fabrications of epic proportions; Rob Grant has always been straight and honest with me in the past unlike the clandestine meetings I had with the former lot in the Costa Coffee opposite Newcastle Civic Centre in town or the M&S Café on the Silverlink... When they would "Pee up your leg and try and tell you it was raining" Rob has a good team behind him now and yes we had a disagreement and he has a new substantial backer who will input far more capital than I ever would so even the full sponsorship pot that was available from my company will be well covered by his new main sponsor and after our little "tet a tet" and a meeting last week with Dave Tinning I have chosen (me) to step back (my choice); and if someone gave you 5 grand a year for free would you be better off... no you would give them the Bums Rush... PMSL what a half wit... Apparently!!! another word you slip in as a cover all at the end to try and support your comments... which proves you are talking complete and utter Crepe and trying to qualify the tripe you have penned with "Apparently"... The definition of Apparently is as follows "You use apparently to indicate that the information you are giving is something that you have heard, but you are not certain that it is true"... or in your case spouting a "factual inexactitude" as ever. You make stuff up and qualify it as heard from a source Apparently... is that a Red or a Brown Source (sauce lol get it) (never mind here is another subtle interlude that you wont get https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_sY2rjxq6M&ab_channel=CoooLverstukas ) Which brings me finally onto "Gobsh!te" which describes you to a Tee @Wee Eck used as a noun Chiefly Irish Slang: and Vulgar. using the following description "a mean and contemptible person, especially a braggart. a stupid and incompetent person"... However I still do like Wee Nonce Troll McTrollface... but if the cap fits Biffa you should wear it... Merry Christmas you filthy Animal and a Happy new Year... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NozVpZj4i2Q&ab_channel=sophia7gr Nurse cancel the Savlon am okay now... Regards Mr Courtney For all those who are of a more cheerful disposition and for all the kind comment made thank you very much Have a very safe and Happy Christmas and an equally safe but brilliant New Year

  48. Sadly I have heard from more than one source that he is not the same man since a brain haemorrhage some years ago. And if that's the case, then I think people in the position to do so, should be careful what they put into print from the PC of today, should it tarnish the reputation of someone who has made an immeasurable contribution to the sport and given so much joy to so many people in speedway.
