Fair play to Glasgow staying loyal to a rider coming back from a major injury it's not always about the £££ is it.8 points

The problem is that speedway fans EXPECT everyone to love it the same way we do - yet they constantly come on here posting how crappy it is! Speedway is my favourite sport. It always has been, and while it is very different to the sport I grew up with, it still is my favourite sport. I am not like most speedway fans though; I don't come on here bitching about others who like F1, football, tennis etc. I like F1, and I like football, but like speedway, they are very different sports to the ones I watched as a kid. That doesn't make them boring, and it certainly doesn't make me an idiot for liking them. Look at most of the speedway meetings we watch, and we think to ourselves (and often post it on the BSF), "What a load of crap"! I showed a friend of mine Chris' Harris' winning ride at Cardiff - and he just turned round to me, and said, "Is that supposed to be exciting"? Does that make him stupid or inferior? Of course not. Like when he goes mental over American football, yet it does absolutely nothing for me. Not everybody likes the same things - or appreciates the same things. Look at music. I get sick of people telling me that, "All classical music sounds the same". Really, you think a baroque organ piece sounds like a 20th century flute concerto? I am a huge Tom Waits fan, as I love the emotions he puts me through. Most people though, just don't get him, and are like, "He's crap..." I don't expect EVERYBODY to like speedway, but it surprises me that there aren't more. As has been said on here many times, speedway just isn't "cool' for most people. You could have speedway on terrestrial TV every night of the week, at prime time, and most would turn it straight off. Sad thing is, it could be the best speedway we've ever seen, but if they don't "get it", it does absolutely bugger all. I know that British promoters rarely "promote", but quite honestly, what good would it do? If they could even afford it... As I've said before, everyone thinks they KNOW the answer, but the reality is that they DON'T. There are many reasons why speedway doesn't have the following it used to, but many of the reasons have nothing to do with the sport itself. We can't control everything, and we certainly can't control the way people think...8 points

Not all of us fall into that category, believe me. I've criticised Matt Ford and his dodgy dealings many times over the years. I'm also no fan of Shovlar.6 points

Despite not matching the heat leader power Poole will no doubt shell out for I think this will be the team to beat, the bottom four is far better than anyone else will come up with and there is loads of scope for improvement across the majority of the team. Could be that first league title that the Glasgow promotion deserve for their hard work.5 points

Really pleased to see Ulrich back. I don’t really care how he performs at this point. He was so good this year he deserves the chance to find out. He was such a joy to watch. Couldn’t be having him just walk off somewhere else.3 points

A risk after his serious injury but not unhappy with that wears his heart on his sleeve , welcome back Ulrich.3 points

Mark Crang... there's a bloke who was thrown in out of his depth. All due to the averages. I think the Aces paid around £5k for him... Mainly because he had a really low average. Only in speedway....3 points

My take on a 'fans favourite' isn't necessarily down to a riders performance week in week out? I think (and only think...) that Shanes and Morris, both make a lot of time to chat and interact with fans before, during and after meetings....just my observation. Both very approachable/affable riders/personalities. Basically, nice guys....I'm sure Paco is regarded in the same mould and will no doubt be one of the next signings. (as quoted by Col...)3 points

I believe both Newman & Heeps especially can up their aves, alongside 2 x nine point men, that's a strong looking team so far!2 points

Lawson on decent machinery would be decent at reserve. We have said that for years right enough talented but his machinery let’s him down.2 points

Not part of a college project.. Robs pumped thousands of £££ into this, myself and MKJ working to bring you guys the best streams in speedway in 20222 points

Looks a good side on paper. Should be top 3 looking at teams already announced and rumours of those that haven't. Berwick look good dependant on final signing, Poole no doubt be up there, Oxford too. Plymouth, Leicester, Edinburgh be in around play off picture. Can't wait to April!!2 points

Hard to argue against that really. I personally wouldn’t swap Rowe for Brennan as a rising star and I’m pretty confident Rowe will have a more productive season down there of the two. But I also tipped the Witches for the wooden spoon a couple of seasons ago and we finished runners up, and I also tipped Peterborough for the spoon this year and they won the damn thing so my predictions are horrendous.2 points

Maybe the Ford’s are still finalising their rent for 2022 ....before making offers to riders for 2022?2 points

What happens when another team is just 0.16 above scunnys 0.16 and so forth. There has to be a cut off point somewhere!2 points

Agreed. Just hope its not just one camera plonked on top of the tin can stand. Hopefully it will work better than the scoreboard and Rob's completely clapped out PA system- which I would have preferred the money to be spent on.1 point

As Kemp is averaging below 4, he needs to improve to be able to reach a 6.00 ave first - then we can see if that's his "ceiling" I think he should up his average, but am also surprised he hasn't done that already as he was a future superstar it seems at 15/16!1 point

I am sure Matty got his British Citizenship sorted out while he was riding for Berwick.1 point

I can't help responding but you responded to a pointless exchange in your words, then your arrogance once again shines through. You couldn't make it up.1 point

Totally agree, but you really can’t see him doing anything about it now.It was like he was on a lawnmower most of last season.1 point
-
Which is the most frustrating thing in the world. Problem is the penny will never drop that running then same bag of spanners won’t score you points.1 point
-
Not sure about Kemp, he may have hit a plateau. Seems to be behind Brennan, Palin, Flint and Rowe now in terms of CL and I can see others like Gilkes, Edwards and Thompson twins improving too. 2022 will define whether Kemp is going to be another promising youth who hits a 6 point CL ceiling or kicks on to be a bona fide heat leader. I can see Brennan, Palin, Flint and Rowe doing that, not convinced Kemp is going to.1 point

A very decent team. Will make the playoffs no doubt. But Ostergaard is at the tail end of his career and had an injury. Might take him a little while to get back to where he was, or close to it. But this is countered by the expected improvements of Basso and Brennan, who I believe will have a breakthrough season. Cook and Nicol the other two. Cook not the rider he was a few seasons ago but still a good scorer at home. Looking at this team against the expected Poole lineup is interesting. Glasgow go with two ageing heat leaders against Poole’s three ageing heat leaders. Glasgows second strings are more solid than Poole’s, but Poole might have a stronger reserve than both Glasgows. (Unless Danyon continues his improvement) Roll on 2022 and another great season like the last.1 point

Happy to see Ulrich getting another season, long as he's on good equipment hopeful can get close to form he was in1 point

If they've ridden in a professional league they come in on a 5. If not, a 4.1 point

Nicol would likely ride at 2 with Cook, which he did at home last season, he was sometimes at 4 for away meetings, I agree that Ulrich is a gamble but the rest should improve1 point

NBJ would be my choice for the final spot (i think he fits). Looked good for Berwick at Brough back in August riding at no1. Bates absolutely no thanks. Terrible around Brough.1 point

I think fundamentally UK Speedways issue is the return it gets on its "huge" outlay... Well over a million next season will be spent collectively on circa 200 meetings in the top two leagues that, sadly, have very little meaning other than providing a salary for the riders... That's an an enormous of amount of money shelled out to get so little cut through and recognition for their sport by the promoters.. Yet they continue doing the same thing year on year.... I would suggest less (but meaningful) meetings, with the same outlay but as "prize money" would attract a much larger overall following for the sport, given each meeting could be marketed as a stand alone event, with clear quality control of riders, presentation standards, fan engagement etc.... Theres too much of a "any speedway is better than no speedway" view, which then leads to its contrived operating model, and a dumbing down of standards, which ultimately will restrict fan interest and growth of the sport...1 point

Yes. But PC WAS offerred free admission. My understanding is his grievance is he felt that ALL former riders should have been offerred the same (I.e the response analogy offerred by falcace). I don't believe anyone would disagree with genuine legends like PC and Mort being given lifetime free admission. But should the same apply to say - and with no disrespect intended- Marc Crang or Andy Campbell or Bernie Collier?1 point

On his day Sedgmen can really race and he'd have an 8 point average if his head was screwed on properly but sadly it isn't. In his last meeting for the Tigers he was on for a five race maximum but got excluded in heat 15. He looked really focused that day but the following days saw him kicked from the team and replaced by Brennan. Worth a shot on his average I think.1 point

According to the BSPA website Morris and Shanes are 'fan favourites' and the promoters said "You could say they were in demand and there were a few clubs interested in signing them." What am i missing here?1 point

I'd rather my team DID accommodate Basso, so I could watch him and be entertained, rather than watching more R/R So he has to base his whole career based on what Matt Ford wants him to do? And if not Matt will spit his dummy out? I don't know much about the Fords, but they seem to expect the whole of the speedway world to revolve around them? And if not they spit their dummy out and slate a young lad publicly? How petty and embarrassing...1 point
