Buster Chapman is not on the Management Board. He’s not had any say since he stood down two years ago. Having been a member of the BSPA, it’s my view that having a sports’ professional with no affiliation to any club as CEO would be far better than the current situation which tends to rely on well intentioned - and hard working - amateurs. Running a sport needs different skills to running a team, and needs to be a full time job6 points

Agree with the last bit in brackets. Spending lots of money on all new stuff every year is completely unnecessary. A new van every year is also unnecessary. There are so many costs to clubs and riders that can be cut. A 10mm bolt will last for years but many will have all new every year because they're shinier - totally unnecessary. Four helmets a meeting in each colour, totally unnecessary - did anyone see how many Emil S had accumulated?5 points

I don't know if Ian Jordan is still involved in Plymouth but based on the unpaid debts he has left from Eastbourne he should be banned from all speedway. That goes for any promoter who has unpaid debts. They should receive lifetime bans. It's disgraceful and I feel for any rider that has had this happen to them over the years.4 points

You would not believe the issues Ian Jordan has caused the club let alone the debts he has racked up, he's cost the rders, sponsors and fans a lot of money and cost the club a year of track action along with giving the club a bad name..4 points

Honestly This new venture is sparking some interest as it even made the Look North segment on the morning news today They showed a segment of the H18tory treble winning meeting celebrations at Derwent Park Regards THJ4 points

Probably not an unrealistic figure but Lawson will be including engine wear and tear, clutch parts and then the cost of the 2/3 bikes he was running spread over the season. Thers a hefty amount of start up costs involved (rightly or wrongly).3 points

First of all i feel i have to state that i am in no way a racist. We have a young black girl who lives next door who we have a good relationship with i pick up /drop off her 6 year old son at school when she has to go to work etc. But i do think that the snowflake/woke points of view often creates a problem when there isn't one and in a lot of cases makes things worse. Your post is a typical example of this. You have twisted things to fit your point of view. Your comment. (I could go on about it not being about black people being interested, its about being given a fair chance.) is in my opinion in this case B/S. First of all about Black people not being interested all you have to do to prove that this is the case is to look around the crowd at any speedway meeting and sadly you wont see many ethnic minority faces, you don't have to be given a chance to view a speedway meeting. Then there is a comment in a post from Beowulf a speedway fan of Indian decent who states that his own family take the micky out of him for his unusual interest. and that he says he is not typical of his generation. comments that indicate there is not much interest in motor sport from ethnic people straight from the horses mouth. Then there are numerous posts of people posting the names of numerous ethnic minority riders that have been given a chance as you call it .My point is for the reason posted above there is not much interest from ethnic minority people. But those that have an interest have been given the chance in the sport the odd few ie Lindback have done very well the others named have not done as well just like a lot of white riders . Then you mention a successful reigning world champion who is a black chap. If as you say ethnic people are not being given a fair chance how the hell did he become world champion without all the backing and support that takes . We have both read the same thread you have taken from it what you have wished to see and i have done the same life's all about opinions .But its not a fact that either one of us is right.3 points

There’s not a problem with self interest. What is important though, is they have no interest in any speedway business. This is one of the reasons why the Ekstraliga in Poland is flourishing - one person at the top with no affiliation to any one team, who no doubt takes a percentage of all of the deals. But, like with Bernie Ecclestone and F1, better to get 75% of a £1m sponsorship deal than 100% of a £100k one3 points

Not this Poole fan! Plymouth will be strong home and away and have a fantastic lineup. Going to be an entertaining season and I already look forward to my visit in 2022 when Poole are in town.2 points

Seems a very fair unbiased informed opinion to me ,this is something some fans from a certain club (we all know who) are incapable of doing.2 points

So the SGB site is wrong down to shoddy updating or ineptitude Yet again something very simple is a complete mess and what should be clear and transparent is opaque and shrouded in confusion2 points

Anyone signing Cook would be taking a bit of a gamble if we’re being honest. He struggled with confidence issues and then took time out for a period with personal issues. Maybe some clubs are reluctant to take that gamble..2 points

Haha. I'm not always right. I'll be shocked if it is Ipswich hes gone and not Peterborough. Just doesn't make sense2 points

Hes not been that great when round belle vue. His ideal club would be panthers where he's brilliant. Surprised they not signed him2 points

Comedy gold. Doubt very much Plymouth will win anywhere apart from Plymouth tbh! But maybe you should practice spelling Wimborne Road correctly in preparation! lol2 points

Really? Who's going to improve - Gilkes maybe? Atkins at a push? Barker, Kennett, Andersen are all decent riders but have reached their level. Interesting to see what Bowtell will do with no reserve rides. Decent side but will be a few better I think.2 points

I think you misunderstand the role of the SCB. It is certainly not independent as it comprises two representatives from ACU and two from BSPA plus a non-voting chairman, nor has it any responsibility for promoting the sport. It is purely an administrative, operational and disciplinary body2 points

there isnt no, will be strange but i think its right for both the fans and the worralls2 points

Oh dear… Poland have created an U24 league, the same as how most sports have youth leagues, Jason Edwards has signed up for Grudziadz, he won’t be in the first team, he’s hardly at that sort of level. You just stick to talking utter rubbish and contributing meaningless posts, you’re not very good at the actual speedway stuff clearly2 points

I just don't get it John. What is your motive? On the Memories of Rye House Facebook page you make an ambiguous but provocative post, which then sets off a negative chain of events. After that causes an argument you delete all your posts so no one can see the trail, and then you make apologies. You then set up an alternative Facebook group which you call Rye House Speedway- the Fabulous Rockets. Yet on this Forum thread you admit that you haven't been since 1963 and you left because you were bored, and that having posted a link to a picture of a Rye House legend you don't know and don't really care who he is! However, that also means that this Forum thread has been diverted away from the positive news that there is actually a chance Rye House could return. I try not to post negative things in relation to your posts, but boy, you do make it difficult to come to any conclusion other than that you are trying to damage the possible Rye House return.2 points

In previous years the seasons final GSA used for the following years team building, are normally ratified and approved at the AGM before being released.1 point

And chill.... Some of your fans have said that Plymouth will be unbeatable at home but not do much away. Interesting it is only a problem when a Poole fan says it! You can actually have close racing in a comfortable victory like Poole vs Glasgow in the regular league fixture. As long as the racing is good that is the main thing followed by a home win, no one wants to lose home meetings as that will affect future crowds at most places.1 point

A difficult ask there probably isn't anyone with those qualities who has a comprehensive knowledge of speedway. What it needs is someone with those qualities who has no financial interest but with realistic proposals for the future. Mike Parker did try to get an Isle of Wight format with Grasstrack bikes and deep track at Wolverhampton back in 1981 but all riders were threatened with a lifetime ban from the BSPA if they did compete. That probably gives the DNA for the today's situation. Mike Parker was a wily character but knew the sport and could see then where it was heading. Unfortunately he died not long after.1 point

Only the last set published don't include the Sheffield/Kings Lynn meeting on Sunday 26th September, after the cut off point for October the previous Thursday. The Tigers site includes the riders averages after the meeting with Josh on 7.38 from his 12 meetings. 11 meetings 47 rides 83 points = 7.06 12 meetings 52 rides 96 points = 7.38 (he scored 13+2 from 5)1 point

Bit tough to start as no1,but then Lawson did a good job there last year when not expected to do that well as a no1. Just had a look at Pickering's H/A average,he actually had a better away average than his home one.As he rode Lynn very well hopefully he will have a good home average and keep up the good work away from home.1 point

This is absolutely spot on. You need to try and find a gem. For every Pickering there is a dud but I always find it quite exciting having a bit of an unknown quantity in the team. Thomson was a good find for Edinburgh this season and it wouldn’t surprise me if we looked to Oz for a similar type signing for 2022.1 point

Im sure there was a list in the Speedway star around the time, sure Morley and Zach Waj were out of pocket a decent amount too. I know its tough to speak ill of those who can't defend themselves but Jon Cook had a fair hand in both of the clubs payment problems.1 point

His profile name was Richard Weston & changed it to 00000 taken from meeting thread checked quoted name then a replied name. During this season we had many different opinions, which we all are entitled too.1 point

Wow, Lawson owed nearly 8k from Eastbourne and he doesn't want Ian Jordan anywhere near speedway. Maybe that was one of the sticking points with Plymouth? Reported in KL local paper.1 point
-
That’s true, but he was by far the most entertaining visiting rider I saw last season (missed Bewley’s visits). Im guessing the plan is that Kildemand or Lawson will hopefully progress and step up to No 1. But Pickering is a rider I’d happily pay to watch at Lynn.1 point

If people complain about the noise which is normally about 2 hours, it should be pointed out to the council that Swindon football club and many more football clubs have grounds in housing areas. If the license is refused on the grounds of noise pollution, surely Swindon Robins have a case against the council for prejudice against our sport.1 point

Nice to read someone who understands what's going on. It's falling apart but I think something useful may come out of this mess speedway will continue but probably more semi -professional. Speedway should be accessible by anyone who's willing to give it a go. Presently that's just not possible. Unfortunately the 'Anorak' supporter has taken over and that's not good for the future.1 point

Easily to confused though when there is an Oxford thread in the Premiership section!1 point

But if you read the forum guidelines you will see that posting in bold is considered shouting and posters are asked not to do it. "Please do not post in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS; this is the Internet version of shouting, and is irritating to many posters." Mind you it describes a troll as " a contributor whose sole intent in posting is to be a disturbance to the community." and you ignore that as well.1 point

I have defended you on many occasions, both publicly and privately. I have tried to help you, with information and technologically. You wonder why people mock you and criticise you, and I have tried to explain. You just need to act like a normal person, John. You need to stop treating us all like idiots. You need to stop wasting your time - and our time - with pointless projects. You need to stop rehashing things over and over. You need to stop constantly contradicting yourself. You need to remember that you are not our superior. You need to stop acting like a lifelong speedway fan when you are not. Your love and knowledge of speedway expired in the 1950's. If you want to provide any kind of service to the speedway community, then just stick to the era and riders about which you DO have knowledge. And FFS, John, TALK to people instead of just posting links - particularly when it comes to self-promotion. I don't think I can be any fairer that that - or more polite than that.1 point

You get plenty of passing at Monmore, with the home riders passing throttle bashers who dont know how to turn a bike........................................1 point
