Well now that he is confirmed his fan club members can start thinking about their trips to Sandy Lane. Perhaps they could arrange to travel together in one car & save on fuel costs.7 points

We've discussed before, but the narrative has tended to be written from the John Berry perspective. We don't fully know what the demands and conditions were, and I don't think it's realistic to expect complete autonomy as has been alluded to. John Berry was undoubtedly a good promoter, certainly had good if not visionary ideas on how the wider sport should be run, and was familiar with US sports practices which he suggested should been the model for speedway. However, any multi-stakeholder organisation needs a leader who is patient and persuasive, not one that quickly gets frustrated and falls out with people at the drop of hat. He also appears to have been reactionary about developments in other sports (e.g. World Series Cricket) that arguably revolutionised them (even if his underlying point about the demise of existing competitions was correct), so how things like the advent of satellite/cable television and the SGP would have been handled would have been interesting. I do think much of his vision for the way forward was correct, but i don't think his tenure would have lasted that long in that sort of role though. Plus speedway had already started on its long road to decline at that point, so it would have been in an environment of long under-capitalisation and increasing financial pressures.6 points

If that is the rumoured team, I personally have doubts. It puts a lot of pressure on Jordan in the main body of the team. Lambo has had years of mediocrity and will not improve and is suspect away. Which ever way you dress it up, Aarnio let us down big time last season. Visa issue or not, he was not that impressive when he did ride for us. Personally ,if we aim to win at home Auty plus another, would be better option as second strings.6 points

I think criticism of the twins and comparisons with Flint / Palin is unfair. Flint had a full NDL season in 2018 and again in 2019 and would be 12-24 months ahead of the Twins and Palin may simply be a better rider at this point. Due to Covid it's safe to say that both twins were thrown a bit in at the deep end in 2021, the NDL was not the League it once was in terms of depth and the CL is stacked with a lot of experienced second strings and reserves. I think both are still ahead of the curve. Maybe time for them to split and I wonder if Joe might go to Oxford possibly, although that could be a big stretch for their parents at this stage of their careers until they become more self sufficient. Probably level at this stage with likes of Bickley and Edwards who have more experience. Give them a break!6 points

Oh dear… Poland have created an U24 league, the same as how most sports have youth leagues, Jason Edwards has signed up for Grudziadz, he won’t be in the first team, he’s hardly at that sort of level. You just stick to talking utter rubbish and contributing meaningless posts, you’re not very good at the actual speedway stuff clearly3 points

I am Indian, originally from northern India. Have been following the Wolves since 1967. Used to go away as well but stopped going about 10 years ago, although still go to play-off finals if we get there. Been to approximately 76 tracks but my list needs updating. Only current track I haven't been to is Kent, but also never got to the Isle of Wight (and never got to West Ham either, but remember our 29-49 win in 1969). Even my own family take the mickey out of me for this 'unusual' interest. But there again I also like rock/ambient music, real ale and sci-fi and they take the mickey out of those as well. I collect Wolves programmes and have them from 1950 onwards. I also have all of the World FinaI programmes from 1936 onwards. I really have to assume that I am not typical of my generation ! I did take my son when he was young, but it did not stick, like virtually everybody else, football is the be all and end all for him. And bloody Man Utd at that. I, of course, support the football Wolves. Very handy that the colours are the same.3 points

But if you read the forum guidelines you will see that posting in bold is considered shouting and posters are asked not to do it. "Please do not post in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS; this is the Internet version of shouting, and is irritating to many posters." Mind you it describes a troll as " a contributor whose sole intent in posting is to be a disturbance to the community." and you ignore that as well.2 points

On the one hand yes but team spirit is a major part of winning trophies so having riders that want to race together helps.2 points

Remember we are working to 42 as the average age of the riders., not the points limit2 points

100%. Great at his job as a promoter, but not a man to bring people together. He was sworn enemies with half of his fellow promoters and his tenures as England boss resulted in multiple fall outs. Just not the right fit. Though, to be honest, I am not sure if there has ever been the right person around..and if there ever was, if they had any brains, they got out of the sport pronto! All true. Sadly. Speedway will never adapt with the times....change will only come to speedway - as it always has - when change is forced upon it. And not in a good way.2 points

averages dont lie that is true, but for entertainment Auty hands down gets the nod plus you know on a Friday night Josh turns up,with Tero, for various reasons you never know2 points

I just don't get it John. What is your motive? On the Memories of Rye House Facebook page you make an ambiguous but provocative post, which then sets off a negative chain of events. After that causes an argument you delete all your posts so no one can see the trail, and then you make apologies. You then set up an alternative Facebook group which you call Rye House Speedway- the Fabulous Rockets. Yet on this Forum thread you admit that you haven't been since 1963 and you left because you were bored, and that having posted a link to a picture of a Rye House legend you don't know and don't really care who he is! However, that also means that this Forum thread has been diverted away from the positive news that there is actually a chance Rye House could return. I try not to post negative things in relation to your posts, but boy, you do make it difficult to come to any conclusion other than that you are trying to damage the possible Rye House return.2 points

Why are you so involved in something you don't care about, aren't interested in promoting, and are happy to tell the world that last time you went there, you left because you were bored? Then you wonder why people mock you?2 points

The guy who developed Central Park originally had plans to get Sittingbourne into the football league. Then got into difficulties and I think Gillingham were then interested. Its remained a ‘white elephant’ in some people’s eyes with dogs the only income until speedway was introduced. Its a terrific venue but I think speedway came too late to it to have any sustainable life especially with a hostile council and restrictive operation.2 points

Be bit disappointing if your team building ended with Danny gap and be fair bit under points limit surely? Obviously at least 3 riders there capable of putting a point or so on their averages but thought be looking for bit better?2 points

If you had spent thousands on a 2020 range, as most people who run merchandise shops did before covid hit, you would not be prepared to chuck it to one side and spend thousands more on a new range. Come on Martin, you can't keep comparing everything to Poland. If it was your money, you wouldn't do it. But its easy to waste other peoples.2 points

I have seen Edwards name in the Ekstraliga section in the Grudziadz team, although as an under 24 rider. I am unsure of race day for U24 teams. https://speedwayteams2022.blogspot.com/p/pge-ekstraliga-2022.html1 point

If Tero could get a bit of away form back, as in 2019 he averaged over 6 similar to Josh. Home form, both could average around 9 so I would think it was about who we could fit in to the team at the initial declared stage, who go well at the EWR. Nice to have Zaine in for 2022 but I would not class him as a track specialist after a few visits with Sheffield & Leicester. Maybe a track he likes & is suited too.1 point

Very difficult to see Batchelor having a worse season than last year, and possibly the rider who may have the biggest potential average gain in the Premiership in 2022. A risk, yes - but not a great risk on that average1 point
-
Josh isnt any better than Tero at Scunny if the aim is home wins… id go all out for Crump on averages around that1 point
-
You could swap Tero & Lambo for Auty and someone like Shanes, Morris or a new 5.00 rider. If Rob is all about home wins then getting Auty in as a third heat leader, and therefore less pressure, will only help that. Whilst Shanes or Morris are decent young riders too and would realistically sign.1 point

I like the way the team has been developing with the first four signings. Not sure why Rowe is a left field name. Based on my experience at a couple of Team GB training days earlier in the season I would rank Rowe behind Flint & Brennan but ahead of Palin and everyone else.1 point

It’s unlikely the twins will be separated. On Joe’s average I can’t think of many riders that are better or equal to him but I also think they are both worth another season & will only improve anyway. Dan struggled at number 2 but he will learn & build on 2021. If we are sat here in 12 months & they have not kicked on again then I would agree on a 5+ average Dan would be a risk. Joe will be the next one announced . I can only assume Howarth will be back & then there is speculation of Anders Rowe which for me is a bit left field a name which has never been mentioned before.1 point

Speedway had, and probably still could have basic appeal as it can be viewed on different levels - from 4 riders racing for 4 laps, to the different match tactics, to the intricacies of team building and heat formulas. It clearly got me interested at some point, although looking back the presentation was a bit dated even in the 1980s, and some of the rules have always been a joke. It's hard to know at what point it lost youth interest, but I suspect it's a combination of becoming somewhat expensive whilst the stadiums and presentation stayed the same (or even got worse). The rise of football along with its generally improved stadiums may also have had something to do with it, although that's also suffering from an increasing aged viewership. The loss of urban tracks probably didn't help. My father probably didn't even know about speedway so if I hadn't been able to cycle to the local track with all the kids that also went from my neighbourhood, then I may never have got interested in the first place. The same when I later went to Hackney and Rye House - only because I could get there on public transport.1 point

Im guessing had the RS system remained it could have worked but with rider averages it would complicate things. If you start with rider A & rider B both on 3.00 averages (for a start i don't know if both can be declared in a 1-7) anyway rider A ups average to 4.00, Rider B remains 3.00. That would mean B could cover for A but A couldn't cover for B (depending on who was in the declared 1-7). It would also open up a whole can of worms with tracks signing specialists for example Plymouth may sign a riders for the home meetings who is great on small tracks and then want another for bigger away meetings, good exposure for both riders but creates a lack of cohesion in the team and potentially pushing the shortage of reserve riders even further.1 point

Personally I don't subscribe to the kids with families bit . Whether it's midweek or not if your going your going always found it a weak excuse. You look at any midweek football crowd and it's full of kids maybe it's just speedway kids who need to be in bed early1 point
