Can someone tell me, whats the point of having a RS scheme in the Premier League but not in the Championship ?, surely the point is progression of young riders so it should follow that the RS scheme means the Championship is the natural step up for young riders then the Premiership.11 points

Yep huge congratulations to all at Oxford for achieving something which must have seemed a million miles away not that long ago. Particularly pleased for @Matt Davis who will be able to take his kids there as he went as a lad, dream coming true stuff for him and his family6 points

These decisions are official with the traditional AGM no longer in place. The door has remained open for both Kent and Birmingham to also enter the Championship if new promoters can be found to take on the clubs and they have until the AGM to do this. Well that's confused me?5 points

Did they pay someone to write this hogwash ? No AGM.... both teams have until the AGM to declare. Idiots.4 points

It is very amateurish...let's stop any pretence it is a professional sport in Britain and cut the cloth accordingly.4 points

The team is what it is. There seems to be a lot of negativity already which in my opinion is astonishing considering what nearly happened. Signing riders at Newcastle has never been easy with us being a Sunday track. However add Brexit into the mix along with Poland dictating things and I presume it got a whole lot harder. Maybe the Worralls,Howarths etc we’re approached and either turned us down or politely told us they were going elsewhere. Maybe Some of them told us they’d ride for us but can’t as hoping to race in Poland. Nobody knows apart from the Promotion. At the end of the day nobody gave Peterborough a hope in hell last year and looked what happened.3 points

Don't really agree, the league is pretty much same strength as last season and the championship has never had issue giving young Brits a chance. Continuing with it in premiership makes sense as that's where opportunities were fewer3 points
-
A real shame they got rid of rising stars. Gave young riders a chance. Now some are left with inflated averages and are going to struggle to get a team place.3 points

Geoff and Belle Vue have alot in common. Go missing when it comes to the end of the season3 points

Embarrass themselves every year at the BSPA. 5 year plan for the RS pretty sure every man and their dog could’ve told you last year this would only last a season and well there we go scrapped already.3 points

What you hoping for then Geoff? Give us all an idea of how brilliant your team would be.3 points

Thanks mate - absolutely over the moon. 14 long years. Hard to believe I was 21 when the speedway shut! Now… where’s the best place to find riders averages? Need to get fantasy team building3 points

Only enquired where he was, no need to slag the guy off ,you have probably never even spoke to him.3 points

NURSE, NURSE, the loonies have escaped and are trying to ruin speedway again3 points

It says in the Speedway Star that ambitous plans are in place, and the intention is to stage National Dev. League racing there in 2022.. NDL will be expanding in 2022 to include more teams it says, Oxford are going to be 1 of them, running alongside the Championship.3 points
-
The BSPL and Chris Louis in particular have been very helpful and understanding in what we are going to achieve at Eastbourne for the future, we are all working together to make sure the sport resumes at Arlington.3 points

Realism rather than negativity from me. It is a better team than last year but unlikely to be at the sharp end of the table. I will still be there whenever I can and will continue to be a sponsor and enjoy my speedway racing.2 points

Who from this year's NDL who didn't have a champ place is even close to being able to step up? I can't think of any hence why I think ending RS program, creating a much stronger NDL will give those riders a more competitive environment to bridge the gap. Then this time next year maybe Freeman, Beebee, hagon, Kelly, the mcgurks might be in a position to make the step up2 points

They aren't weakening the product (for a change). No team will even be forced to release anyone. There are 3 teams above the limit and 3 teams below it. The three above are Peterborough (Pedersen retiring), Wolves (Schlein retiring) and Belle Vue (Bewley not riding in UK). For a change, nobody even has to let anyone go if they don't want to, which is always the worst part of having a successful team.2 points

Disappointed to see that the Championship clubs have dumped the Rising Star programme. For me riders need to be able to progress through the league and to do this the programme has to run through all of the leagues. So it is looking like only 6 teams in the Premiership So with one Rising Star for each team these are the riders that should be the 6 Rising Star, Leon Flint Tom Brennan Jordan Palin Anders Rowe Drew Kemp Dan Thompson I would then like to see reserve list, these riders will cover Guest appearances for the above riders, retirements or riders dropped. Dan Gilkes Joe Thompson Jason Edwards Henry Atkins Jack Parkinson Blackburn Connor Bailey2 points

I feel Connor should of been signed as our RS rider for next season, long ago. . He came on a lot at the back end of las season.Could be my last season if we end up with a load of crap / left overs next season…2 points

The only plan is to make it up as they go along...which every year means cobbling together what's left. And er, that's it.2 points

would have been good to lower the 2nd div averages more and limit DU/DD with a view to seriously limiting it further in future but its another same old same old and you know what Einstein said.2 points

Would it be possible to have a live stream from the meeting on Tuesday?, It would be of great interest to fans around the country, and if the potential promoters are asking for donations which I’m sure is the reason for the meeting it may help to get fans to donate2 points

The 'traditional' AGM has always been 2-3 days. This year its only to be a 'one-day' rubber-stamping exercise of what has been already agreed over the Zoom meetings and to give Brummies more time. Most company AGM's have a very strict agenda and are usually over and done with in a couple of hours at most!2 points

I’m sure George Dodds or maybe even Crescent girl will come and give a smart arsed comment to a very valid question2 points

same riders will be on the rising star list as long as they are still old enough or share the same birthday as Josh Bates2 points

Poole is a lot closer to us (we live near Southampton) than Oxford so I suggest probably not We've been Poole supporters for life, never considered Oxford as it's a heck of a trek, especially mid week!2 points

There is no point (might as well make it all PL teams have to have Brit under 24). Because the scheme was so well considered (cough) and the longer term aspects realised that the majority of the RS places for CL level would be filled with riders not ready to make the step its been dropped. Implementing a "system" when there is a glut of riders available is easy but as the next 12 riders haven't appeared out of thin air the whole thing has been dropped.2 points

No change. Same 6 teams. This time the season will be over an extra 2 months so how they will work the fixture list out god knows. Can't afford 3/4 week haps between fixtures. 4 of the 6 prem teams can keep all there riders wolves and Peterborough need to change there retiring riders with lesser riders. So basically weakening the product yet again. Glad Oxford are back and look forward to seeing a meeting from there in 20222 points

Brief mention in BSPL/SCB statement that they are continuing to work with Eastbourne to help the club back to tapes in 2023. Positive news and hopefully more news from the club over the coming weeks2 points

Doyle and King is a great spearhead, although little to no improvement in their current average. So that’s where the likes of Riss and Heeps come in. First reaction is to say no because they’ve both had poor years (Heeps worse than poor, he’s been absolutely dreadful), but the perverse way speedway works make them ideal signings. Riss on 5.26 looks very good value, he dropped around a point and a half on his starting average and looks a good bet on his current figure. He’s better than 5.26. Heeps is a bit more tricky to work out, what on earth happened to him this year? He was mostly pants in the championship too. The question is, is it a permanent slide in to oblivion, or just a really bad year that he’ll put right next season and put a point and a half back on to his average and get back to being a solid mid 6 pointer? One thing you could nearly always guarantee with Heeps, was that his Foxhall form was good, and he was probably the most entertaining rider we had on home soil. But even that deserted him this year before he was axed. He’s never been particularly good away. Risky. Starke? Never fault him for effort, but I don’t see much if any improvement there average wise especially if he’s going to be in the main body. Not sure on Rowe either. Started like a train but tailed off pretty quickly and rather alarmingly. Injuries didn’t help of course so perhaps we have to factor that in. Whoever makes up the other 5, we’re gonna have a bit of a tail with Doyle and King up top. King deserves his place, had a very consistent season in both leagues, but his average now of just shy of 8 looks pretty off putting really. Maybe Doyle has gone elsewhere2 points

No need to put my name in quotes. It's real. Unlike you I don't have to hide. Now, you haven't upset me. I'm quite amused by fools like you. It also stirs the blood to vent spleen at thoroughly deserving targets. You remind me of those characters who wander through London carrying signs stating "The End Is Nigh". I have real problems to deal with in helping to keep the Rye House campaign . You don't come anywhere near so don't flatter yourself. That goes for the other keyboard warriors. All I care about right now is playing my part in defeating those who have been seeking to destroy the Rockets. Self-appointed windbags are pretty irrelevant by comparison. Now the secret is out was told track based on Redcar with a bit of belle Vue, maybe a bit early for training this winter, would think (only my opinion ) that a training track and open meetings in 2022 then see how speedway as a whole shapes up for league speedway in 2023, good luck to the guy sorting things out, will have to have a walk down this weekend to see progress2 points

ARC do not seem to mention the ownership of Kent on the website but do mention Birmingham, Newcastle and Nottingham in terms of dog racing. Do we have another stadium landlord who is anti speedway? However from an impartial business perspective, it would not take a rocket scientist to work/find out that speedway is on its knees and with the deteriorating level of support for a dying sport added to which we have seen examples of clubs experiencing financial difficulties mid season, why would any landlord entertain the idea of hiring your stadium with the chances being that you might not get the revenue you want to make it worthwhile as the speedway club folds because financially the owners of club work on wafer thin margins with a business model which is flawed and has so many risks and rarely makes financial sense. The fact is that turnstile money is nowhere near enough to keep a club afloat, hence the club relies on third parties (sponsors etc) whose financial condition the stadium owners would need to assess, be fully understood in order to give them an idea of the financial risks they are taking on with the club. Given the foregoing why let speedway or for that matter any other sport that operates a similar business model, through the door. Len has not only a knowledgeable and wonderful servant/advocate to speedway, he is an astute businessman and if he has finally walked away, then the writing is well and truly on the wall and those in charge of the sport in this country need to act decisively to protect the remnants.2 points
