  3. As a support we will always be indebted to yourself and those who managed to keep us afloat those years, without which be no club let alone a successful one. So as a Glasgow/ Poole fan... Who do you want to win

  4. Their is a better way, just exclude any rider who moves prior to the start when the green light is on, no replacement. This would eradicate all the nonsense at the tapes in a few meetings. Very few riders get excluded for a second offence in a meeting having been officially warned once, so they clearly know they get no leeway for trying to cheat.

  6. This is now broken record syndrome. It’s like that movie edge off tomorrow eat sleep repeat continually going on about a now sadly defunct club that won something 3 years ago is now very boring and yesterday’s news.

  11. Just to clarify. The planning condition requiring the track to be removed and the land to be restored to its original condition, if the speedway ceased, was relative only to the time that we only had temporary planning approval (IE the first 4 years). Once a full planning consent was approved, this condition no longer applied.

  16. Glasgow have been fined in the past for missing meetings. I think it was five or six grand in around 2013. I’m not aware of Poole being fined but that’s because I’m not aware of them being unable to fulfil all their fixtures. It’s nothing to do with bias, everything to do with breaking the rules.

  18. Got to remember bspa will be watching if the fixtures are not completed they will issue a fine of £3000 well they did in 2018 but as it's Poole and Glasgow they probably won't get fined !!

  19. I think all you cause there is a bidding war for the riders towards upper end of said average limits. Do nothing to reduce costs IMO

  20. Only 42 points per meeting. Averages based on 4 rides per rider per meeting. For heat 15 a riders average is usually divided by 5 (5 races instead of 4). Scoring 8 points from 4 races is the same average as scoring 10 points from 5 races.

  21. Going back to the NDL and its rider developmentsuccess or failure - for me there needs to be a clear distinction of what success means. For example, there are riders who will always make it regardless (Gilks, Brennan, Edwards, Bewley, Lambert, Pallin), those that enter the NL on 3.00 and leave on 9 plus.. they would have made it regardless of the league structures or if there was only second halves after main meetings and amateur meetings available to them. For me success or failure of the NDL is whether those riders who perhaps have to work a bit harder (I dont know a different phrase for this and I am not suggesting that those who will make it regardless have not or do not work extremely hard for their success and indeed I am sure it always contributes to it), for example here Danny Ayres, Ben Morley, Alfie Bowtell, where participating in the National league really made a huge difference to them and was probably the only way the made it to higher leagues. Can we say in 2021 any middle order riders at the start of the league are now able to make the step up? This is where the NDL should really come in to its own for rider development in my view, for riders like Spooner, Verge, Coles to really give them the step up they need to Championship but also a "challenging" cushion in the NDL for confidence and experience. And the only other option is to have a properly MDL/NJL formated and enforced second teams to run, without fail, after every league meeting by every UK club.

  27. The trouble is today was meant to be quite good in the afternoon BUT it poured down causing horrendous driving conditions. Don't know what impact it has had on the track but up until then I was optimistic, assuming the favourable forecasts were accurate. Just going to have to wait and see.

  30. We have Basso no worries, the cup is ours. Zaine Kennedy is not that good at his own track let alone at Poole! He may have got 5 and 4 points but he had 6/7 rides!

  33. My wife has no interest in Speedway, but always says she enjoys having it on, because of the comments from Pearson and Tatum. The banter has made the coverage much more watchable, as Speedway has a unique issue with the long gaps between the action. It not the commentary of the racing that is important, it's what you say between the heats.

  36. Please spare a few moments to reflect on this day in 1993 the League title was decided at Monmore Green's final home fixture without the need for play-offs and we had an 11 team top division, twenty home league fixtures and teams that fans could call their own. It's a shame how far team standards have dropped. PS: If you don't know the result then DON'T check it up.

  37. Why would he start on a lower average? Min 4 for both

  38. Just to correct you there, I dont suggest that every team should have second teams. But it's an option that could be further evaluated.. My personal thoughts is that I know that it wouldn't work partly due to rider numbers but also, like always (and 2nd halve were supposed to happen this year too) second team racing isnt valued by many promoters sadly leaving those who can see its potential out on a limb with next to no support. I think @arnieg said earlier that every british rider in the top two leagues, except Scott Nicholls had gone through the third tier of the sport. I guess if what you say is correct that only 10% of NDL riders make a carrer out of the sport then our higher leagues need to consider the options that are opened for UK rider, vice international riders for our UK based teams.

  39. Why would anyone team sign Hellström Bangs? He had a moment or two at the SoN. Berge had more moments, would start on a lower average & has visited the other tracks before!

  40. In 2018 both teams attempted to ride but ice came up through the track, referee called match off on safety grounds, but bspa still fined the club, nothing like kicking you when you are down, but it was only the last league match, that we had already got the cup for, plus 2 other trophies H18TORY

  42. ‘Done fairly with no hidden agendas ‘…..that’s the BSPL buggered then. Only an independent body with no ties to any club can give speedway any credibility back as regards a rule book.

  44. T20 is great for the kids, it's exciting and quite cheap for a good entertainment package, I can't see how speedway can compete when other sports offer far more for the kids, I don't know what could be done to attract a younger generation, ask any kid a famous footballer he will reel off 20-30 names, ask him to name a famous speedway rider I bet 99% would not be able to name one.

  45. Interesting points but if your suggestion that every club should run ‘ second teams ‘ next year just where are the clubs to find these riders ? British Youth Championship field isn’t the size of pre 2019 levels especially youth 500 level ( less than 6 riders ) Amateur meeting entries are down at the few tracks that run them ( 3 or 4 tops?) especially in the youth and 125 categories on pre COVID years, half of the entrees aren’t upto safe ‘ racing ‘ standards ( not decrying them but some are old timers just having a ride , others are complete novices who can’t slide around a complete corner ). There simply isn’t enough competent new riders to make up such teams and there’s been no new flow of kids getting on speedway bikes in the last two years for obvious reasons. whilst a structured third tier is essential, let’s be realistic about how many new riders are taking up the sport….very, very few.

  46. Spot on, take a look at the NDL which is now on its knees due to the lowered points limit. The CL side above "appears" respectable because it has a few "names" on false averages. One team will get the British champ on a sub 8 ave, Heeps is sub 5 because he was injured/tripe and Clouting is struggling for points in the weakened NL. The PL team again looks better because of names rather than current form. Batch, Crump and Covatti are not the riders they one were, Kurtz is not the rider he should have become and so on. Lowering the bar to make riders Prem / Champ or even NL level isn't the way to help the sport short, medium or long term.

  47. What's the difference ray c ? Same riders in both league's apart from a few . And it costs a lot more to ride in the so called premiership, so I understand Poole staying where they are, more teams in the championship.
