I'd report it to whoever was responsible for the surface and ask them to fix it.6 points

With Richard Lawson signing for Plymouth and King's Lynn next season, it looks like more of the same for next year. If something is broke, why try and repair it!5 points

Whats the need for change - its been a highly succesful season, the p.offs got record crowds , and after the challenges of operating with limited crowds due to COVID restrictions, every club has enjoyed a wonderful season. ...... In the fantastic Championship League ......sadly Eastbourne closed, Birmingham suffered financial problems, Newcastle are looking for new owners, Poole are in discussions over the continued use of their stadium, but other than that it has been a wonderful season with entertainment from the top drawer. The stand out "Premiership" tier has once again delivered first class entertainment, and goes from strength to strength, with the BSPL once again struggling to decide who to admit to this "elite" division of racing. This season we had 6 clubs fighting tooth and nail for the coveted 4 play off spots. The qualifiers for the 4 spots were in doubt until early May and this made for some top quality racing of the highest standard that England can offer. Of particular note in 2021 has been the huge success of the rising star programme which has developed so many new potential world champions for English speedway. None of the rising stars were known in the sport at the beginning of the season, and all are truly the product of the rising star programme. Next season will see twice as many rising stars in teams , and England will once again have top calibre riders to challenge the worlds top Speedway Grand Prix stars.5 points

It's one of the best in the country, would be a bit silly to judge it on a wet night don't you think.4 points

I attended as a neutral as I have done for all but one of the meetings at Perry Barr this season. As expected there is much debate over where the blame lies for the events last night but one thing for sure is that as ever the fans always suffer on these occasions and the sport seems incapable of preventing such self inflicted damage.4 points

The track was very bad but I had no idea Pirates wanted it off. Completely understandable though as it could have caused serious injury. It was unfit for racing. And so it proved as there wasnt any. Perhaps Danny said to the riders to stay safe and come away in one piece. Wasn’t worth risking an injury.3 points

Well my contacts are telling me this.. It will be one league next season with a fluid rider system for all tracks, an example below Eastbourne will return so Tom Brennan will revert to Eastbourne on his CMA This is not fair on Glasgow so Tom can take his place in their line up too Tom can also ride for Belle Vue as a rising star as they had first dibs When Glasgow face Belle Vue, then Glasgow must use a guest for Tom up to his CMA as he is a rising star and that takes priority for Belle Vue When Glasgow face Eastbourne, then the home team has the use of Tom with R/R used by the away team in the interest of the sport And so forth.. Very simple and well thought out.3 points

I never said Kasper Andersen was a bad choice just busk Jacob was a safer option, thankfully Kasper turn out to be good. One of the worst meetings I've seen at the EWR in terms of racing but what can you do when you get a down pour before the start of the meeting. I hope you can return in better weather to see what fine racing it can produce.2 points

The meeting wouldnt have survived under normal circumstances. A shame I never photoed the track but clearly they didn’t want anyone on it before the first race. Pressure of the cutoff date clearly influenced Scunthorpe who knew running the meeting would favour them and they took full advantage of it. But all it really did was gift them the three points and seriously short change the paying public by serving up garbage. Perhaps if there was no pressure of cutoff the meeting would have been pulled.2 points

Why? Nothing was reported to be wrong with it. Sometimes you just beaten by the better team. With the two Ben's first time there, was gonna be tough especially if they didn't take a liking to it. Gilkes seemed to do alright, just not meant to be tonight.2 points

Could be 6 aside with no Ostergaard either, I imagine we will see how Nick rides for Leicester. Danny King the most likely guest if we go down that route. Does a guest have to ride in the UK? Thorssell if not2 points

Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result is the definition of madness, its clear to most that the current structure and plan just isnt working.2 points

Just noticed this Flat Track meeting on at one of my local speedway tracks soon. Looks quite interesting. Especially the Supergirl and Electric classes2 points

Must be tempting.. No headaches arranging fixtures, even rearranging fixtures, due to all pretty much domiciled over here, and race nights being fixed... No flights to pay for, and no hotels to pay for commuting overseas riders.. No over inflated heat leader type contracts to pay out for the next foreign 4 point averaged "wunderkind" to ride at reserve. Instead you will be paying RS's.. And riders (heat leaders in particular) getting plenty of rides (and opportunity to make money), in both divisions, potentially, given the Div One fixed race nights, being able to ride seven meetings a week, five or even six races a night, with a fair few of the races having an RS up against them.. A win, win for all... Why change something so "good"...2 points

Yeah back then were renting off the football club so track dimensions couldn't really be altered. Now our owners own the stadium they reduced the football pitch to widen the track2 points

I haven't been since Lynn were PL but by all accounts and by what I've seen on YouTube it's a fantastic track too nowadays so probably could have added them to the list too in fairness.2 points

Poole and Manchester are very different areas and demographics so difficult to compare really. Each to their own and I respect your views, but for me the NSS is second to none as a race track with P'boro, Scunny and Redcar next in line. All great shaped tracks with multiple racing lines and most importantly smooth surfaces which riders trust and can race on with confidence.2 points

Hold on a minute though, it's early days yet... I don't know how they're going to do it yet but I'm sure the BSPL can do something that will make things worse, just give them time.2 points

Oh dear, a lot of fair weather whingers on here. Weather in Scunthorpe was dry all day and 24c. Light spits and spots at around 6.30pm, track was looking good. Start was delayed due to lots of people sitting in their cars pondering to go or not into the stadium and heavy rain to the West- where the travelling fans were coming from. The track was heavy for first 4 heats and was drying out fast after that. It started raining again at heat 13, when match result was in no doubt. Heavy rain during and after heat 14, so match wound up. Basically one team wanted to race and other beaten before a wheel was turned. TJ was immaculate blasting around the track, Lambo great at reserve, a good guest In Kasper, and the rest all chipped in just where needed. Scunthorpe's ex captain Worrall and ex Scorpion Douglas kept us lively and the rest were pretty average. Your manager made a pratt of himself too!1 point

I think Plymouth can be excused if they paid retainers to any rider, given that they weren't accepted into the Championship til the last minute and had to put together a relatively competitive 1-7. The Promotion seem very pleased with how things have gone (presumably including finance) so as long as it worked for them...............1 point

Whatever it is a guest or R/R i'm really looking forward to this match on the tv.Would have preferred to see it at the Showground though as it would have been more of a spectacle imo.1 point

I hate it when riders are fawning over each other after a race (even a crap one), only seems to be a relatively recent thing, probably since the Morans. I always remember Crump and Hancock being particularly tactile. Looking at videos from the 70's and early 80's riders barely even acknowledged each other after a race1 point

I was wondering about a recycled single use plastic track (that should get the environmentals juices flowing) if that's not a contradiction. Think Lego. Can't believe they've not tried it in Denmark. Maybe with a textured surface to allow more grip on the outside line. Would you be able to slide a bike on such a surface, with no loose material? It would certainly be consistent and need limited in match maintenance. Could even have holes to allow drainage in the wet as long as it didn't compromise the strength. Just like Lego you should be able to erect and dismantle as often as required. And transportable without having to source shale. Just like erecting a concert stage, probably less complex without a lighting rig. Combined with noise friendly e-engines you could hold meetings in city centres no trouble. Think cricket grounds for the best shape. Colourful to. Imagine sponsors logo's on the racing surface not just the air fence. I guess it's just too expensive an experiment to happen. Or just not possible. It wouldn't be speedway as we know it, which should be noisy, smelly and dirty, but if environmentally friendly is the direction of travel why not go the full monty. Recycled tracks and battery powered bikes..... Professor Brian Cox was on the radio yesterday and reckons the universe ends at some point anyway. In billions of years time. The big rip apparently. But I guess the end of the universe is a bit different to maintaining a planet that is habitable for a little while longer so there might be something in this environmentalism. Could be an opportunity to introduce a form of speedway to a whole new generation of environmentally friendly youngsters... ...or do they not like competitive sport anyway?1 point

Sincerely hope not -- last week the referee allowed Erik Riss the mother of all flying rollers from the start of Heat 13, giving Birmingham a fortunate 5-1 which contributed to their draw!1 point

Now having had some sleep I feel I can reflect on last night with clear and rational reasoning. All I know is that as a spectator I watched the first heat being won be a reserve in a very reasonable time and I never expected that 10 minutes later the meeting would grind to a halt. So with that in mind I can only concluded that last night summed up the problems we as a society are all facing, in as much that the mainstream media are constantly pushing a left-wing Marxist agenda and turning the millennial generation into a group that believe everything should be “just so” and how they “want it to be”, and if it isn't they will “scream and scream and scream” I'm of a generation who believes in “just get on with it” and enough with the jibba-jabba. You may consider that to be old fashioned thinking, however can I remind you that the first thing I did on getting home (early) last night was to put out the recycling a very progressive action. We all have to think of the children and the children's children and the Blue whales, what happens when the whales stop singing; what then?1 point
