  1. Not all of us... I may be the Terrace Grumbler but I always had time for Ludde and wish we had him at no. 5 now. There's no hiding from the fact we took a pasting yesterday but those of us who remember the season with Rene Knudsen will know that this sort of situation hurts but generally things do improve... Also, remember the season when the promotion took the season ticket money and then withdrew from the league without a wheel being turned - compare that to the very honourable way our present promoter has behaved and be thankful we have a team at BP at all. Back to yesterday... I enjoyed watching Charles Wright, Kyle Howarth and BB, and it was a decent way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon. (Doug, is that positive enough for you?)

  2. TBH your Team Manager (aka "Calamity Clown" ) lost you this match. Instead of trusting messrs Cook, Jensen, Nicol & Wells to cover Ostergaard's programmed rides, in comes a highly dubious choice of guest which spectacularly backfires! Hard to imagine Stewart Dickson would have made such a blunder in a derby match when he was at the helm

  4. £2,500 raised in a collection for Ulrich today at Glasgow. In his short time at Glasgow we have really taken to him speedy recovery hopefully, both teams could be doing with him back sooner rather than later.

  5. Surely the track curator should prepare the track how the home team wants it not how he wants to do it…..

  7. So club hope the number 2 position will be resolved for the away meeting at Edinburgh on the 6th August.

  9. Well, that's what am asking,,, providing Archie has a doctor's note, or letter off his mum, and providing Leon Flint doesn't hurt his fingers and Berwick get in first?

  10. So we can use Dan on Sunday for example instead of Archie who hurt his fingers in the workshop a few days earlier.

  11. Newcastle could always appeal to the SCB, as they don’t mind arranging re-runs when Redcar are involved.

  12. Only just watched Sunday’s meeting, having been away all week. What a pleasure the standard of commentary was throughout. If Nigel Pearson wants any tips, listen to the way Kelvin and Chris went about it. He’s supposed to be the “pro” at the job, they’re just sat-alongside-experts adding comments. They came across so much more “pro” than Nigel. Well done, Kelvin and Chris, I for one will be sorry when Nigel’s back behind the microphone.

  13. I'd paid my £18 online to watch the Scunny match expecting Adam Ellis to be there, still went and enjoyed 2 cracking meetings for £18. If that's not value, I don't know what is?

  14. While I can see there's a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to the home defeat, the criticism of Justin Sedgmen seems a bit unfair. Although at reserve, he has continued to increase his rolling average month-on-month -- what more can be expected of him?

  15. Can you conjure one up with the right average and necessary permissions plus a guarantee that their Government won't move the goalposts (sic), then please send your suggestions to the Poole Speedway Office.

  17. If they are having issues with tyres it was only one side struggling with them... IMHO it had nothing to do with tyres On the track... not sure where it was Grippy Charlie Wright put in the fastest time of the season passing Ben Barker up the back straight... also the James Grieves line was 2/3rds of the way out on the 1st and 2nd bends unless my memory is failing and no one goes out where Ludvig used to do his passing in the dirt on bends 3 and 4 as there is nothing there for anyone... no grip whatsoever... and everyone tries the Lemmo cut back on 4 hugging the inside line which can make it rather processional at times... 3 or 4 passes up the back straight which is unusual for Brough and Dickie Juul's advice in the pits must have been invaluable to Redcar... the dust was an issue for sure and the problem with a new track man for me is he potentially won't listen to the home riders and will prepare the track how he likes to see it not how the home riders want to see it... the issue may settle once the guys get dialled back in... and the dust will settle with more water on the track... Newcastle were just not good enough in every department... Redcar were better and stronger right through... it was a good old fashioned stuffing without a doubt... gating was an issue all night for the Diamonds with the exception of heat 15 when James Wright got a massive roller and still couldn't keep the lead... Also what's up with Max Clegg... his body language didn't seem right and on the track the effort just didn't seem there... has his head been turned? He seems to have gone right off the boil... The team is ripe for changes however is there anyone out there who can come in and significanty strengthen the team... some big decisions to be made... Finally I am not surprised any newbie liked what they saw as it was a master class of Speedway... passing with thrills and spills... good entertainment... only problem was it was all coming from the away side... Newcastle were just not at the races unfortunately... Regards THJ

  18. Looked on the pace just seemed to drift too wide towards the end off his heats and losing momentum, also rode well on Friday still has talent.

  19. Berwick allow under 16s in free. As a result you get a lot of younger fans going as part of a family. But that side of promotion very seldom gets the praise it deserves. Far easier to be negative.

  21. It's not hard to grasp is it,,, he is on the Rising Star list at the start of the season,, and still on it,,, ipswich don't use him as a rising star,, as only one rising star per team this season in the Prem,,, Kemp is ipswich rising star. So Rowe gets an average, but because he is on the list still,, he can guest for other 4 rising stars.

  22. I think he will be at Peterborough next year if he wants to be, I also think he will be racing again this year as he should be back for our September matches if not some of the later August meetings. Ulrichs very popular, with his team mates, sponsors and most importantly the fans and it’s noticeable he is very fit this year and a fit Ulrich on good equipment is a match for mostly anyone. You don’t put over 3 points on your starting average by fluke or accident.

  23. So you weren’t there, didn’t know anything about the meeting, track, opposition, conditions, refs decisions? In fact you knew nothing at all except what you read on the internet? Well they say opinions are like ar$eholes because everyone has one. I think all you did is prove the point. as to hitting a nerve ? Don’t flatter yourself mate, any real fan laughs at people who spout off with no knowledge of what they’re talking about. yeah, my boy did ride. He also top scored. Embarrassing…? Nope. I’m proud as hell.

  24. To be honest before hand most of us would have been delighted with a point as we didn’t think would keep it within 10 but in the end it was points lost. The rain completely changed the track which Wolves (especially Douglas) adapted to better and another home team who used a tactical sub to win. The racing was fantastic before the rain came, just like the Wolves track use to be years ago, an outside line and inside line that could be used for passing and no fallers!

  25. Cracking match. Thought the Aces were very unfortunate tonight. After the rain, only Bewley (and what a joy it is to watch him ride) looked at all comfortable. Before it they appeared in command, well-drilled, team riding splendidly, careful to ensure shared heats if a home rider got away. Clearly came for the victory and probably deserved it. I take nothing away from Wolves who, when offered their opportunity by the weather gods, grabbed it by the throat. Good teams do that. Masters, Morris and Schlein were again full value and when Douglas and Becker turned their evening round late on, it was just about enough. But that was a real statement of intent from Belle Vue. Edit: Good to see a healthy portion of Aces fans at the match; a cheerful bunch who added plenty of spirit to a good atmosphere. Safe journey home.

  26. Hey Scunny Dan there will be a few Poole fans including myself who will be making the trip up to the Eddy Wright Raceway this coming Friday. Looking forward to the meeting as Scunthorpe is a terrific race track and I have enjoyed all my previous visits.

  27. Agree regarding track time,,, but that's not what I meant. In theory, Dan could end up being no.1 at Leicester, but could say replace/guest for Archie at Newcastle as a 1 star?

  28. Going to be a very tough fixture and nothing to call between the teams. Leicester lucky that they are coming when we are without Ben Cook to be honest. Could go either way. There’s a reason Leicester are favourites for the league.

  32. The Bates family have various other successful business ventures outside of Speedway and as the Lenny the Lion has indicated own & run both Sheffield and Leicester for their Love of the sport . This passion for Speedway goes right back to the early 80s when both Damian and Mark were mascots at Sheffield often going out on track before meeting along with dad Paul a sponsor to many riders over the years. The Bates family prefer to have very good promotors and key staff working for them with the likes of Stewart Dickson,Julie Reading,Peter Mole,Alan Jones and Karen Hudson key to the clubs operations. This means that the Bates family can operate their other businesses and not have to worry about all the administration and logistics of running a Speedway club. With regards to Iain B comments about outsourcing of merchandise and catering at Leicester that is not unusual at all, Even the mighty Leicester City and Tigers have outsourced their conference & banqueting so they can focus on the score product the sport . I personally think the variety of products offered by Jaybea to be good but do think the catering is lacking especially in the summer the bottom bar should be open after meetings so fans can socialise more if they wish

  34. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I seem to remember being told it was because many tracks ran a couple of teams in different leagues which had different nicknames.

  37. Sedg needs to be taking points from second strings especially at home. Yesterday he only beat the Edinburgh reserves who gained 3 points and 8 last places between them, a not so difficult task to gain 7 points. He would arguably have beaten Nathan Greaves but you just never know. Its not just an expectation that he wins ht2. Sedg is stylish and controlled but sticks rigidly to the inner half of the track even when the racing lines have moved out wide. Time to be a bit less conservative and push beyond his comfort zone. He's got the ability and the team really needs a free scoring reserve now Sam Jensen has moved up and injuries have struck.

  40. A hope ya right but if it doesn't come back soon the riders will.forget it's there... and to be fair there was nothing finer than watching Lingren go for he big bomb on the outside and lately we have seen a couple of riders go for it and you see them going backwards as there is nothing out there... 41. Thank you. If you had read what I had queried initially you'd have realised it was a genuine question. Now I realise you and your wee pal have no clue. If either of you work/volunteer for the Tigers then you messed up today. No big deal, it happens.

  42. Terrific entertainment today. Points of note from my perspective; 1. Joe Lawlors late point was vital and he worked so hard to get it. 2. Cookie looks slightly off compared to previous seasons. He fought really hard in cracking races with Worrall and Masters. 3. Not enough water on the track. It didn't seem to detract from the racing but I found it odd, given the large water truck and smaller water tractor, that the dust would be quite so bad from a spectator viewpoint. 4. My favourite moment from today was when Kye was in 3rd and Justin was about to come under him thus forcing Kye out wide. It was almost at that moment Kye realised he can ride the boards (like he does at Armadale). He passed Jye and then after that he was excellent. 5. Brilliant collection for Uli. Speedway is such a great sport but moments like what happened on Friday are brutal. He's on the mend and that's the main thing so get well soon. 6. Looked a very good crowd today. Similar to the SGP qualifier a few weeks ago. Great to see and hopefully everyone was entertained.

  43. I’d say before reviewing Sedgman, who scored 7 from 4 rides, and Wells (who scored paid 8 from 4 rides) we should be having a looking at the the decision making processes of the team manager. It’s not the first time this season that we have let potential points slip by decisions made from the pits, both before and during the meeting.

  44. Alan Grahame actually raced it at the old Perry Barr track and it was successful unfortunately it was at the time when BSA was facing closure and the project ran out of money. Cheap stock petrol engined bikes could be very successful in providing the next generation of riders?
