Do people only come on this forum to have a rant about speedway? Its very sad that all fans can do is moan, always looking for the negative, No mention yet of a great nights racing, pleanty of passing , a great performance by all of the Brummies, no mention of Grobauer being on the pace, ash back to form , a great perfomace by Paco who beat Jake Allen,, Riss with his jaw dopping ride against the air fence in ht 15., come on peeps lighten up.5 points

Only surprise was that it took until heat 14 to confirm the win. Don’t want to sound like sour grapes, but I don’t think it’s fair that Peterborough were allowed a better team than us4 points

It can often be difficult to accurately assess crowd levels at Perry Barr, especially on a night like last night when it was unbearably hot. On these sort of evenings many spectators who normally don't care for watching the racing from inside, will change their stance and go into the bar which is air conditioned and allows them to watch the meeting without sweltering. The same situation also occurs on very cold nights when the bar is centrally heated and much more comfortable. For what it is worth, I thought the attendance was a bit better last night than in the previous two meetings. I'm not saying we do not need more if the speedway is to become viable, but it is at least a good sign, and if the quality of the racing that we saw last night can be maintained, then the signs are positive. I know that the new track curator Dixie Dean, is working hard on the track surface, and it is showing a definite improvement.4 points

It is a rubbishhole though. Went there for a stox meeting in 2018, it was far worse than the last time speedway was raced there in 1986. Also the track is tarmac, the centre green is a total mess and the fence is Armco. The speedway track was only ever any good in 1985 and even then it deteriorated before the end of that season. The stockcars carried on ruining it through 86, then the promotion gave up. It's in the wrong part of Brum too, not exactly dripping with transport links. A definite no-no IMO.4 points

What an appalling site this is! Badly designed and, certainly as far as speedway is concerned, lacking in up to date information. To find out that the Sheffield match is on I had to go outside the site for a search to find what 'British Premiership Round 8' meant - I could so easily have taken this for one of their many repeats. if it had not been mentioned on this forum that match is on then I wouldn't have known anything about it - particularly as it's not in the usual Monday slot. The BSPA were keen to inform us of their tie-in with this organisation now they need to bend their ears to tell them to provide clear information about the sport on the website. It's certainly not doing speedway much in the way of promotion. And if you're reading this Baldyman don't bother to tell me to use the power of Google. It should not be necessary to delve through multiple tv listing sites to get the required information when it should be on the host website.3 points

That was all a match should be, good hard racing, a last heat decider and a bit of atmosphere on the terraces3 points

Is Bomber playing his way into GB's Speedway of Nations Team? On tonight's form, he could still compete at the top level.3 points

Good luck to IOW tonight. Barry has been on Facebook live throughout the day, promoting the meeting, promoting and giving exposure to the sponsors. I really hope they have a successful season3 points

If you were there, you would know it was a far better performance than the points he scored. Remember, he is a CL reserve, so riding at No.2 on a relatively new track to him was always going to a tall order. Ht1.Got baulked on 1st turn ,kept plugging away and was reeling Ruml in by the finish. Ht6.Gated with Schlein and Pedersen. Made nuisance of himself. Only their long standing experience took them to the front. HT8. Was cruising, never threatened, to a 5-1 with Hume. Engine went kaput and sounded like a bag of nails. HT10.Change of bike worked well. Rocket start and on another 5-1 until a small error left Z.Cook to go round him. Could have so easily have been 5 pts or more. Looked far more accomplished than Keleher,Ruml, Bowtell and Smith. Did his job very well. Considering this was only the second ever time he has ridden the Poole track, he acquitted himself very well, in my opinion. I heard people saying that for a guest, he tried hard for us and happy to have him back again. Not sure hed like the 7-8 hour drive from Workington each week though!3 points

The joys of being allowed to DU... One injury means two teams are short of riders... Mind you.. Not always the case I suppose... Sometimes seemingly one injury only impacts one of the two teams involved but not the other, meaning a rider is unfit to ride for one of his teams, but perfectly ok to ride for the other one.. Double Upping... All very strange...3 points

Don't agree with the tac sub at home but GET IN The signs were there at Sheffield last week that the change of leadership might have galvanised things and that carried on tonight. Everyone had a win or paid win again although I'd suggest Wells might be on borrowed time. And what a signing Lawson has been.2 points

I'm sure I'm repeating myself but home teams shouldn't be allowed the TR, if you are half a dozen behind on your own track tough luck.2 points

the wheels is up for re-development, so it will disappear. current tennents have been told to leave. I enjoyed last night, role on Plymouth. A much better performance by the lads. Drinks of cordial I believe for kids and pints of tap water with ice at the bar are FREE! Fill your boots.. I did.2 points

As I am privvy to what went on behind the scenes - straight from the horses mouth! - let me just say the whole issue was far less about his on track scores and was not about any specific exchange of expletives at the Promoter, but more about his off-track behaviour, letting the Promoter down and longer term specific effects on team spirit. The fall into the air fence on the day he departed and his attitude to others - including several Aussies there on the night - when he returned to the pits was 'after-the-fact' as decisions had already been made. No further comment from me on this issue. As for last night's meeting a great atmosphere, helped by some decent music and well done to the track staff for keeping the dust down and again providing a decent racetrack.2 points

He outscored who he replaced. Job done! You are really annoyed that Zane let you down! Haha. Not sure why you are trying to trash a Brit in the process. Bit weird!2 points

If you're referring to me, I didn't predict anything. I said, 'we'll see how that goes later'. Dear oh dear.2 points

I don't know if you can blame the management as they haven't said anything about it apart from the statement about getting rid before he came an asset. Whatever Zane did, he really p'eed them off! He might be doing well for Plymouth but he hadn't done that well for Poole when he was there, so it was easy for them to just use the scores as a reason.2 points

Just got back from the meeting the better side won having Harris at reserve definitely helped Peterborough. It’s the 1st meeting I’ve been to this year but to me Batchelor looks like his confidence is shot . He doesn’t look comfortable on the bike at Sheffield you have to be prepared to go out wide and attack the track it’s fast and bloody scary , he ended having to go wide to go round pedersen and he didn’t look happy out there. I hope he s not losing his nerve and he gets through his bad patch ,but he s now a father and that can change your outlook on things . Howarth did a solid job riding well to keep Harris behind .ellis looks like a rider going places nice starts attacking the track and rode well to pass pedersen in the final heat. Pickering worked hard for 3 points .wright is struggling at this level Bickley unfortunately looked out of his depth. Morris did ok but think holder would have scored more ulrich after 1st race rode like a no1 Andersen Sheffield his not his sort off track can t remember when he was last here toft managed not to finish last Nicholls rode solidly and was always out encouraging his team pedersen started well but I think found it tough later on .palin I thought did ok for the rising star .harris after watching his 1st ride I knew we were in trouble mam of the match.so well done to the dads army lads they keep marching on1 point

I used to go to Sheffield regularly and the racing was excellent. I was just thinking I'm sure it used to be better than this. Maybe it will improve later.1 point

I went to the first ever meeting at the Wheels in 1984, and a further six meetings over the next 2 seasons. Unfortunately one of those was against Ellesmere Port, when Joe Owen had his awful accident. Some i did by car, some by train. I seem to remember it was a fair walk from New street station.1 point

I've said it before with the Commonwealth Games coming to Perry Barr this should be a great chance to get a new track built in the park. I hope someone is talking to the council/games organisers to see if this could be a possibility. I know at lot of people are against another move away from the spirituality home of the Brummies, but you need to look at the facts. Greyhound racing is almost being forced out of existence by some so how long will that continue at the stadium. And more importantly as OGT mentions when all the new neighbours move in how long will they put up with noise and dust blowing around when they want to chill out on a summers evening. Now is a great chance to get a purpose built track with a multi use center green. I can think of other cities where it would be very much on the radar and most likely pushed forward by the council. Look at the NSS up north and the plans for the new Brandon stadium backed by the local council. I can understand objections about using part of the park but that could be countered by the use of the center green for sports and noise objections can be countered by the fact the track could be built next the banking and noise protecting fencing provided by the M6. Which in itself is a 24/7 noise and pollution issue in the area.1 point

As I mentioned on the other thread, the crowd was pityful and I can't see them lasting the season with crowds like that1 point

Yeah I agree Greg Blair is worth watching and like you say a different team but even though I have a season ticket I will be giving it a miss.. cant be arsed with the crap anymore..1 point

Obviously the better team won on the night, given the level of victory, but gutted to go out in the circumstances surrounding this match with only half of our own riders. That’s no disrespect to the guests, who were good choices, but you want to win or lose with your “own” team. Leaves a bitter taste the whole affair but nothing we can do about it now.1 point

One rule for one, one for another. ZK looks like he's started firing a bit since he joined Plymouth and on current form is likely to have scored more that an out of depth Bickley. I guess we'll see how that goes later. Now that Cook is also guesting, Plymouth have a decent chance.1 point

Old Bob of Herne Bay was watching a different meeting to me. Good close racing all evening and a win for the `Kings that nobody forecast. To be fair, a big input from the guest, but that made up for some lost points to our Big Two. It is arguable that when Cameron Heeps is fully fit, he will be scoring similar figures. Ability-wise he is on a par with Howarth at normal times. Gilkes made all the difference with some very determined efforts. If he can keep up this kind of performance he will end the season as a fully fledged heat leader. I was puzzled by the choice of riders by Eastbourne for heat 15. The match was lost to them at the end of heat 14 with that first win for Hurry ( who had a good night hampered by Lady Luck). Why did they not use their top two ? Looking at Old Bob's comments again. I wonder what he expects if he thinks of this as a "tame" meeting ?? Still. he DID get out of his armchair !1 point

KL are in a desperately sad situation, run in an amateur way by the clown Buster who has also overseen the biggest downturn and destruction of speedway in history as recent chairman of the BSPL, a poor team thats bottom of the league by a mile and appointed the new team manager who’s a bit of a ‘fan’, what a joke, the true KL fans must be ashamed. No wonder fans have walked away from a Micky Mouse club. To boot the club must be loosing a fortune and clueless Chapman hopes an estate agent will save them, IMO he’s not got a chance.1 point
