  3. Nothing’s changed at Eastbourne then as gate grading for the home team there has been going on for years - back to the 90’s it was always fun to watch Bob Dugard look at his programme just before going out to track grade- that is apart from the away riders having to try and miss him going out onto the track as soon as the chequered flag was waved

  4. Got your broadband fixed then Geoff I see... Not a great service though to be honest... Went off last Thursday evening didn't it?

  5. I just think that all the ,fun, banter, health and safety rules, and most inportantly the characters in the sport, has been replaced by bland meetings that when riders turn up is just a number to them and move on to the next one, that if you speak out or raise your hand bag you get fined ,no pit phone to add a bit of spice to the meeting, even if the track served up crap racing,at least you had something to talk about!! AT Hackney where i started i was completely hooked not just by the racing but everything else that happened at the meetings with Andy Galvin and co always at the front of it.Today i look at a meeting and ask myself is it really worth the effort, maybe just to see a couple of good heats and nothing else.

  6. We'll need a 20 point lead at ht10 to be in with a shout.

  7. I believe Rob Lyon was a car salesman when he was appointed team manger, I don’t think he’s done too bad a job. i understand Brady has been a fan for 25 years, given that fans on here think they know better than many team managers, I suggest he has the perfect qualifications

  9. Copenhagen-London is a travel route used by many top financiers. As somebody who works in the finance sector, it's a route I've taken many times and it's always busy.

  11. Not many could sustain a loss of 84k, without some kind of quid pro quoi! i.e. another business which is tied in with the same set up, that makes a profit and allows the loss to be offset against profits.

  12. Where have I posted a negative here? Where have I said you dont get good racing without passing? All I said was about passing being at a premium, which is fact! Thank you AM, I appreciate your comments. I say what I see and that doesnt sit well with certain posters, Memo to self: Must ask Lewy if I can comment, as he always seems to think he is right and everyone else wrong. Second thoughts, not ruddy likely!

  15. Guzumped talk to me! There I was in the log cabin concluding a deal with Busty for Jimmy Lynch & Main Man Rogers to be his team managers, when this dude in his XR3i shows up, shouting “sold it geezer! 1.5% commission, it didn’t even go on right move, where do I put my board?” Slick back hair, suit from Next and shiny shoes from Barrats! I couldn’t compare with such suave! Before I know it Busty offers him the job there and then! Main Man Rogers is heartbroken had his resignation to Mase typed up too! I’ve assured Main Man Rogers and Jimmy Lynch I’m slipping Busty a few hundred quid to sponsor the Stars next year! On the proviso that T Tibbs Motors Europe Limited’s operations director Jimmy Lynch is named Team Manager and our head of customer relations Main Man Rogers will be his assistant. I’ll even throw in a lovely Renault Clio Convertible for Big Dale! You know it’s a deal you can’t refuse Busty!!!

  16. "Bland"... Truly a word that should never be allowed to be associated with something so high octane, fast and adrenaline fuelled, as Speedway racing... Yet your use of it resonates as very apt when describing what gets offered up on far too many occasions.. Speedway should be perpetually delivered in "colour" yet, sadly, varying degrees of "grey" seems to be its chosen hue..

  23. Revenge on the Aces. Landslide victory for us. Dan Bewley's form has dropped right off and since that happend Belle Vue have started to drop points everywhere. Bewley has to go through the card in order for the Aces to take a league point imo.

  24. think any manager going there now will be carefully watching what’s going on at the track after ht 10 if there winning durning the interval having a flooded away teams gates or slick gates because they have ripped up the home gates will always give the home team advantage there out the starts as most races are over by the first bend really unless a rider makes a mistake

  25. I take your point about amateurism but that ship has long since sailed for British speedway...... at the end of the day Alex is far from the first non ex rider team manager and there have been plenty of those who have been successful over the years so the fact he sponsors the team is neither here nor there if he does a good job.

  26. Perhaps it's time for him to change his sporting career.....

  27. Ipswich are stronger than last time with the addition of Craig Cook and Paul Starke. Cook has many good metings at Monmore and Starke rode for the Cradley team that were based at Monmore. Of course you can never tell in speedway but I think its 3 points for the Wolves and Ipswich just missing out on a point.

  28. Wearing masks has been a token gesture throughout throughout this whole debacle in my opinion anyway...anyway nice weather and no risk of it being off so looking forward to this one...let's hope our 2 Danes can make it here.

  29. they did the same when glasgow were there and when the glasgow team manager complained to the referee Christina Turnbull she told him the home team can do what they want when it comes to track prep which is wrong and pretty sure stewart new this and demanded all gates be the same good strong team management

  33. These Individual meetings are invariably run at the end of the season as a fixture filler or at the start of the season when there's a frozen drop on the end of your nose. That's why they don't pull a crowd and because of this promoters think the fans want team racing first and foremost. Back in the day the "big" individual was held during the summer, The Golden Gauntlets, Pride of the East, Star of Anglia, The 16 Lapper, Barum Trophy, Coalite Classic, MLRC, NRC, Brandonapolis and the list goes on... British Final, Commonwealth Final, Overseas Final. The fact that the British Final is not run on a Saturday night at the NSS is a complete waste of the event and a scandal. One of the best attended meetings in relatively modern times (although it was 25 years ago now!) was the Rick Miller testimonial, pulled in a massive crowd for what was, with all due respect to him and he is a Coventry legend, a (very good) 2nd string rider. But boy did he promote it!

  34. If you have that old email confirmation of it being accepted and it was before August 28th 2020 then tell them again that you haven`t yet received the refund. They cannot refuse to investigate and refund you if you have that vital information and the date is correct.

  36. These are only the figures they accounted for, if the world goes cashless then Speedway will be over If these were true losses they wouldn't do it Most probably saying they got 300 in the gate when it's more like 900, speedway is small enough to get away with being investigated

  37. Correct, but Martin and Paul didn't. As I said, it's a struggle finding three dads in the same team!

  38. That’s very different then, thank you for clarification.

  39. Paul Dugard is Martin's brother. Then Kelsey Dugard is Martins son. You also have the Kennetts at Eastbourne , Gordon, Barney and Edward. Then the Collins clan , Peter, Phil , Les.

  42. They are no different down south. They started off higher, but have soon reduced to a lower level. They might creep up a bit, now that restrictions are lifted.

  43. Its a bit time-sensitive - both for the line-up on Wednesday but also for the cut-off for the August averages (23rd July!!!!) when Poole will lose the 5 point option! However I gather there is much work going on behind the scenes involving British Embassys abroad etc etc.

  47. I would be very concerned if the Panthers promotion aren't enforcing a masks policy in the Grandstand. They will end up with blood on their hands. I'll be wearing my face mask and anyone who doesn't sit a few seats away from me will be getting a mouthful.

  48. It was the hose pipe today. They got away with it at one grading break when they had 2&4 in 4 consecutive heats, hence the fight back, but got caught next time round and were made to even then all out.

  49. Yes, that was indeed a good one and there are one or two others over the leagues that come into the same category. When used sparingly they can often be the highlight of the season due to the quality of the field and generally good standard of racing. Edinburgh have one called The Scottish Open Championship, which incredibly dates right back to 1928 and boasts an impressive list of past winners. To name but a few, how about Bluey Wilkinson, Jack Young, Dick Campbell, Tommy Miller, Ivan Mauger, Barry Briggs, Greg Hancock, Peter Carr, Frede Schott, Rory Schlein et al. None for the past couple of years for obvious reasons but before that there were a good few "Harrison Scottish Open" events, sponsored by Harrisons Ford Centre - a Scottish Ford dealer. Prior to that there were other headline sponsors happy to be involved such as Keyline and others. All racing for the prestigious Jack Young Trophy - a very valuable piece of silverware ( only on loan for a year ) and prize money of course. Fingers crossed we can get back to these good times soon.
