For a team clearly put together with a sole intention to just win at home this is now the 3rd defeat in 6 home meetings I believe? Surely even 2 or 3 of the happy clappers are going to be unimpressed after this .5 points

Surely it’s what they’re doing at home that’s important. After all that’s where the vast majority of fans watch them.5 points

My first ever visit to Scunthorpe speedway last night. Some good races although score was very one sided. Meeting all done in an hour and quarter. Other clubs could learn a lot from Scunthorpe. Enjoyable night out.5 points

A result like this has been coming. You can't rely on a number 7 to get you out of trouble every week.4 points

Here goes. Only one thing you can say about tonight. Outclassed on every level from start to finish. Outgated all night. That’s prob one of the best away performances you’ll see in a long time . Nice to see all the monarchs fans sticking around for the second half. If some of the main team had hung around they could have seen some other lines on the track by watching Greg Blair.that lad is pure entertainment. I’m sure there will be an inquest but that’s down to the manager .4 points

Etheridge been going fairly well for BV and utter dross for Berwick. Summers should be gone tonight. Totally agree with your last paragraph. Nobody expects the club to be bankrupted attempting to win the league but whats actually the point in putting a team like this out year after year.3 points

Wow!!!! Simply wow!!! I was sitting earlier thinking this is my 20th solid year following Berwick.. I had a few years in and out in mid 90s… but Jesus Christ that was the most disappointing performance I think I have EVER seen! Nowt can be said about Leon… he had a rough come off last night and looked to be suffering a wee bit tonight but that laddy has carried our arses this year… he’s rode with pride wearing his colours and if everyone had the same attitude as him we would be laughing… But jeez… 2 heat wins all night … nah! Pure and utter piss take that!! We were 2nd beat in every department tonight! Something has to change!! Try and salvage some pride from this… just try!3 points
-
Absolute shocker of a night, I don’t mind getting beat but to get beat with no fight at all is shocking!!, that defeat has been coming because Leon and Danny have carried that team since the season started!, out of the 7 there is only 3 riders who can be saved from that performance tonight, Danny and Leon because they have carried us and of course Kasper with it only being his first home meeting. Other 4 had no fight in them and looked like they weren’t bothered win -lose or draw!!, Kyle Bickley looks as if he has no interest in on being on that bike what so ever. I’m no track expert but to me it looks like there’s not enough dirt on it to provide racing and there’s no moisture at all in it, new track and new lines I don’t think so, riders are riding the track the exact same as the old one, Greg Blair was the only rider that rode near the boards and the only rider tonight that gave us any entertainment!!. Something has to happen after that!3 points

I hope Michelsen makes it, he would add the most to the GPs.3 points

Well done to Monarchs outclassed by a side wanting to win.Quote of the night from that clown Barrie.” Most dominant display by an away team he has witnessed, because Berwick are not a bad Team” Really!!!!! As*e licking of the highest order award. PS That won’t be last home defeat this season IMO,but as long as the crowds hold up and they buy plenty of cheap booze we should be OK.2 points

Poor Leon was battered and bruised from last nights fall at Armadale which explains his performance tonight. As for the rest of them, no excuse, Dany excepted. Weathers drops a couple of points from 6 rides with Newcastle last week, scores 3 tonight. Go figure. Etheridge is becoming a major problem. Wasn’t scoring at 3 and well out of his depth at 1. Virtually guaranteed an away 1-5 in heats 13 & 15 If you’re thinking of putting a side like this out next season then don’t bother. Just close the club down or drop down a league.2 points

Is it my job to come up with replacements?I go home and away and have done for 20 odd year, and this is the worst team we’ve had, we just scored 32 points at home in our 3rd home defeat of the season, and none of the 3 teams will be winning the league this season… 32 points for crying out loud. If you want me to start making up a list I will, but that’s not my job, but I’m not going back until we start signing some riders who put a bit of effort and commitment in, because that was garbage2 points

Enjoyed the meeting, and must say it was enhanced thoroughly by David Rowe's brilliant commentary and constant breakdown of the figures, points and how they affected the outcome. I don't know who put on the production, but I was amazed that it gave no indication of the championship standings on the graphics, and I can see from comments on here that people who, presumably, didn't have that commentary, weren't sure what was happening because of it.2 points

Willie Lawson winning races, f**king desperate! Doolan will be raging watching these updates. How long can Summers get away with this before his taxi is phoned. Shows what happens when Leon has an off night.2 points

I think you are right that they aren't good enough but a good team manager can drag a few extra points out of his team and that can make a difference.....Lynn arent going to finish anywhere other than bottom but some home wins would do everybody the world of good.2 points

Worst I’ve seen him ride in a long time. More timid than when he first came back after his big smash tonight for some reason?? Reminds me of Cooky when he was in the GP’s, constantly shutting off and putting his foot down before going into the corners. Gutted for him as he will finish 6th now, just one spot outside the qualifiers but hopefully done enough to get a pick for next season as been on rostrum in 2 from the 4 meetings. Really odd performance tonight and no real explanation for it?? Wroclaw not riding now until 25th of July????1 point

Definitely retired and i believe sold his equipment, had some corrective surgery fairly recently, just become a father and has a decent job outside of Speedway so not sure theres much to tempt him back1 point

It's not really about motivation as points make pounds should be enough motivation, the simple reason is there not good enough.1 point

I missed this when it was originally posted. I had assumed there would be three going through from today's meeting. How did Italy get gifted a place in the final? Awful choice.1 point

Njudung is another local geographical name. It's the name of one of the small medieval provinces which together was designated små land (Småland) and one of this provinces was Njudung,. https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Njudung https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folkland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Småland#History Skeppare is a commander of a smaller ship, but in this case people working on the shipyard that once existed in Västervik.1 point

Dackarna is most certainly not ducks. Dackarna is named after south Swedish rebel Nils Dacke and Dackarna was his followers. Mas|ar(na) is a nickname for people living in the province named Dalarna. Vetlanda and Västervik do have other names as well. Vetlanda is/was also known as Njudungarna and Västervik is also known as Skepparna.1 point

Rospigg is someone living in the the geographical region called Roslagen. A pigg is an old word for wasp (wasp's sting).1 point

...and also add those that rode during the National League era. Yeates, Hunter, Perks, Rumsey, Harrison et al plus Gordon Kennet of course!1 point

Vetlanda and Västervik both DID have nicknames for their teams in the past. They used to be known as the Njudungarna and the Skepparna. Not sure why they drooppped these names. And Rospiggarna has absolutely nothing to do with a pig. I seem to remember that it has to do with people of local history there. Perhaps someone of our Swedish experts on the BSF knows better than me and can explain it?1 point

Funny thing is salty Eric rarely had a scratch in his career unlike Nigel until he broke his arm at Newport in 1973.He came back and won a top class British Final in 74 great stylist hated watching him in his ill fated 1983 comeback.1 point

Sad to see the ban for Nicki. I am a self acclaimed Nicki's no1 fan having signed him in 1998 for the Diamonds, and selling him to Wolverhampton the following year. When you get close and understand him, he is the ultimate sportsman. and will take every opportunity to get the win. Yes, he goes overboard sometimes but, like in the cases with Zagar, it is a carryover from a previous clash when Nicki had got done. These spats go on, and continue for sometime years, and refs know that and as long as there is no injuries and it's just being competitive, the ref will allow it and the majority of fans will see what they have expected and paid for. There are others on this Forum, also close to him, and they will tell you what a great guy he is when he has gained your trust. He is intelligent, mannerly, respectful and has you as a contact and a friend for life. I am lucky in having worked with him, so I admit I can be biased when I see his crashes, and I have to step back and have a rethink sometimes. Refs do get it wrong of course, as in the case in 1998 at Stoke for the first time, when Nicki overtook Paul Pickering on the second bend and Paul somehow dropped his bike. The ref then excluded Nicki despite all the protests. At the end of the meeting, the ref approached our Team manager George English and apologised for his error saying he thought it was Ronni Pedersen. Just shows that some refs can also carry the grudge, not just fellow riders.1 point

Bloke is box office and every promoter in this country would have him in their lineup no question if they could afford him. 100% of the fans would have him also if he was on their team. He’s only a pariah if you don’t have him.....1 point
