Hopefully the monsoon season is over and we get a meeting this Friday . Should be a straightforward three points for the Tigers as we are at home and don't need to be twenty points ahead by heat 11 to have a chance of hanging on . Been a turbulent season for the Diamonds , but hopefully their 75th team manager change since April.can galvanise some team spirit . It's a return for Ben Barker , and you just don't know what to expect from him . He'll be backed up by Matty Wethers . Apart from those two I dont expect too much from the rest and we should at least hit 55 . But the main thing is that the rain stays away and we enjoy an entertaining 15 heats .3 points

You’ve already said that, but however many times you repeat it it’s still nonsense3 points

I certainly wouldn't call it cheating, I never used that word. Ultimately it comes down to the governing body and their strength/weakness, if he's not fit enough to ride then he needs signing off for X number of days/weeks so that he can't ride anywhere, or if he is declared fit (I suspect he very much isn't) then he must crack on for both of his teams. As I said having him fit for one team and not the other looks awful and really shouldn't be allowed to happen.3 points

Some people just don't get it and probably never will, sport without integrity is absolutely pointless. Good for you, but many do and most of those I suspect don't go any more.3 points
-
I don't think Aces fans are that bothered, they are going to qualify for the Play Offs at a canter anyway. Its more to do with integrity, you have to admit that it really doesn't look very good for a rider to be fit to ride for one team but not another. If it was a Polish team and not Plymouth there would be absolute uproar!3 points
-
By Plymouth, not Ipswich. Look, we know how it is, you Belle Vue fans would much rather see a half fit Crump struggle to a few points to give your team a much better chance to grab 3 or even 4 points (you might still get them anyway!), we get it. As I’ve already said, if Plymouth were prepared to take the hit and still include him without him being 100% fit, then that’s their prerogative. What’s that got to do with Ipswich? Their stance, is they’re going to wait until he’s 100% and will do the team justice, which surely they’re more than entitled to do? I’ve even seen Ipswich fans question Ipswich here which to be honest, has totally baffled me. Why should Ipswich give their opponents an advantage before the tapes rise in the first heat by fielding a 45 year old bloke who only a few weeks ago broke 8 ribs and isn’t yet totally fit? Are you THAT desperate for success??? Ipswich have a business to run, have little to no chance of making the play offs, and up until Monday had lost 7 matches on the spin. They need supporters through the gate as much as everyone else so they’re quite right not to gamble on the fitness of their number 1 until he’s back to full fitness. To me it’s very simple!3 points

Just checked the 2020 rule book and I've copied and pasted those rules which it would appear will apply for 2021:- 2020 SCB Rulebook 012.1.1 Premiership & Championship Leagues Championship League, teams will meet on 2 occasions, 1 home and 1 away. The League will then split into a North South divide and those clubs will meet additionally on 2 occasions, 1 home and 1 away. The quarter finals will consist of the 3rd v 6th placed team and 5th v 4th placed team, the top 2 teams will go direct to the semi final. The team who finishes at the top will have the pick of the quarter final winner in the semi final. Can't see anywhere whether or not we will actually ride again against teams under the North/South divide this year with the season starting late, and whether or not it could possibly influence whether or not there'll be quarter finals.2 points

Bored now.... if you cant beat them... join them. ive had enough, staying at home. sport is a joke2 points

Thanks for the confirmation Neil I thought I was right The guesting rule seems to confuse some people but it’s understandable when it doesn’t suit your team. I wouldn’t want us to be accused of cheating. Sedgeman is on the market now for any teams with injured riders looking for replacements2 points
-
Why don't the people on this forum check their facts before posting on here. I am told after asking and checking that to have a guest for a injured rider the injured rider has to have medical certificate. Crumps average is higher than Sam's, so it's all legal apparently, I think the country is turning into Boris Johnson clones if you repeat something enough it then becomes fact. At the end of the day you win nothing so just try and enjoy the racing, because sadly it is killing itself.2 points

Jason Crump was named in the Plymouth line up for their match at Glasgow 0n the 2nd of July. The important fact is that meeting never took place so other than his all to early come back at Ipswich he has not ridden for any club in British speedway. It is my opinion that we return to his initial medical certificate from the incident at Wolves on May 31st. Maybe Crump/Ipswich should provide an updated certificate but we all know he broke 8 ribs & was very knocked about. We all know that injured speedway riders bravery/stupidity levels are questionable & we have seen riders carried to their bikes in championship events Collins, Carter & Tatum to name just 3 but this is British league & as much as it's our life blood it is not for a world championship.2 points

Why not go the whole hog and have a retractable roof built over the stadium, just as they do at Wimbledon and Cardiff? In fact, why not make that a condition for all clubs to have, then we could all enjoy speedway come rain or shine….2 points

Agree. We could of had Lawson for Ty, and still been under the limit. As for Bridger, Almost everyone knew he wouldn't do a season. Must of cost Buster a few quid.. Bet he won't make that mistake again.2 points
-
Sorry disagree. Plymouth and Ipswich are not one entity. One club is prepared to let an unfit rider ride, another isn’t. So you’re saying because Plymouth are prepared to let him ride through the pain barrier and ride whilst not 100% fit, then for the “integrity” Ipswich should do likewise? Nah not having that sorry. Ipswich are entitled to make their own private decision regardless of what Plymouth decide. They will have spoken to Crump at length no doubt about it. They’ll know more than any of us if he was going to do himself justice. They’ve decided against it. Their prerogative to do so. Bugger all to do with anyone else. Hardly cheating is it? Oh and disagree about Belle Vue fans not being bothered either. They’ll want to top the table, no doubt about it.2 points

The sacking of Craig Cook is what everything comes down to. Should've got rid of Proctor & Bridger for Lawson and one other. Cook, Lawson, TJ, Riss & Kerr as a Top 5 would've got you a Play-Off place imo.2 points

Agree with you... well at least 66.6% Killer falls off if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction and he seemed alright with it after the incident With Lahti, Nicki didn't move off his line, was marginally in front when Lahti came off, there was still a lot of track left to ride and the throttle goes both ways Birkemose would do well to wind his neck in and show a bit more respect to the 3 x World Champ, all his histrionics after the incident was embarrassing To be involved in 3 incidents in one night is unusual and the law of averages says there's going to be one wrong decision, no excuse for any alleged violent behaviour but nothing wrong with a frank exchange of opinions2 points

Hospital admissions are way below the prediction made by the experts (which shows just how wrong they are) and the NHS is under no increased pressure from Covid. The experts predicted 60,000 daily by now and they are way off the mark. The truth is the variant isn’t a real issue to the UK right now. The sooner we get used to living with this virus the better, it’s going nowhere. So long as hospital admissions don’t start rising at an alarming rate (they aren’t) and deaths don’t start increasing at a rapid rate (they aren’t) then it’s time to start moving forward as a nation. The vaccine is doing its job (as well as killing some too).2 points

I’ve posted many times recently that team line-ups are agreed in advance by both teams, the referee and the governing body - by definition a declared team line-up is correct.1 point

Exactly but at the end of the day we needed a guest and took him from the list We could have had someone else and had same result Who knows ? It’s a chance you take and it’s the same for every team needing a guest.1 point

And all of those I've been positive about, apart from Hagon as I know zero about him. So, what's been said that's ott?? Has the club deteriorated since Jonathan Chapman?? Has the club deteriorated further since Lyon left also?? Is the racing anywhere near good enough for admission prices charged?? Is there any kind of atmosphere around the stadium??1 point

100% - he rides for both or neither and it should be the SCB enficing that not the clubs choosing If Ipswich are providing a medical certificate then I don't see how he can be insured to ride for Plymouth inbetween missing Ipswich meetings1 point

Wightlink Warriors Bring Back Chad Wirtzfeld For The Summer Spectaculars Plus The Wightlink Wizards First Fixture Is Confirmed Wightlink Warriors’ new Team Manager Steve Piper has again acted quickly to ensure that fans favourite Chad Wirtzfeld will return to the Wightlink Warriors in 2021. He joins Danno Verge and Alex Spooner who were confirmed starters earlier this week. Blandford based Chad, who has been with the club since Martin Widman and Barry Bishop reintroduced speedway to the Island in 2016, will be competing in all seven Summer Spectacular meetings. Steve Piper said, “We are very excited to have Chad back for 2021 because we know there is a lot more to come from this young man. Anyone who has seen the speed Chad rides at during My First Skid sessions knows that he has what it takes to go far in track sport and now we have to mould that undoubted talent to get the best performances from him in a race day environment. He already has a busy weekend schedule of grasstrack and longtrack fixtures, but he also has the Warrior connection running through his veins as he started as mascot and a My First Skid regular before stepping in to the Wightlink Wizards and Warriors teams, improving year on year. Mid-week racing fits his into his calendar well so with the Wightlink Warrior ethos of encouragement, development and progress I am sure we can help make this another year of real growth for Chad.” Chad added, “It is great to get seven meetings on my favourite track and I shall be riding for both the Wightlink Warriors and participating in the Island Masters series. Everyone knows I always wanted to return to Smallbrook and it is great that Martin and Barry have found a way forward with meetings that should be great nights out for riders and fans alike. I’m looking forward to seeing all the supporters and once again doing my best for the club.” Turning to the Wightlink Wizards, it has been confirmed that the first fixture for new manager Tony Cook and his team will see the welcome return of the Weymouth Wildcats to the Smallbrook Stadium as part of an integrated programme with the first round of the Island Masters individual event. The Island co-owners and the Wildcats management have enjoyed a close working relationship over several seasons as the Dorset side continue to seek a suitable venue to re-establish the sport in the seaside town with Weymouth co-owner Martin Peters saying, “James (Tresadern) and I are thankful to Barry, Martin and the Island team for inviting us over for the first meeting at the new look IOW set up. We hope that everyone has a fantastic evening and our team will be doing the best we can to add to a memorable night”.1 point

After seeing the Goodyear Blimp last week its sparked an idea. Why don't Kent use a small airship to raise/lower the track covers as and when needed. Could be tethered to the centre green and even have some advertising upon it to cover the costs.....1 point

All these salty are spot on Airey said he retired from British speedway because he knew after 1971 that he he would never become world champion.Dag I believe was like the great Shawn Moran just lost his nerve tried everything to get it back but nature took over.Shields and Brown (RIP ) we’re both terrific talents such a shame we couldn’t get to see how far they could of got in the sport.A great disappointment of mine was Scott Autrey wanted him to comeback so much in 1984 for the falcons to redeem himself. At Poole he still showed he had real class and what a rider he was at the County ground awesome.1 point

This side even with Robert Lambert in it would struggle does it really matter who the manager is? Chapman is the man who should take the flak he built the side for me Peter is just a scapegoat.1 point

Foreign riders want to come but quite often they are no better than British youngsters but it’s one solution. ive been hearing about this continuous slow death of British Speedway for 20 years or more yet the sport carries on. The sport will continue in some form or other so long as people still support it so I see no difference now to 20 years ago.1 point

Penhall the obvious one as is the aforementioned Dag. In terms of his English career what about Ulf Lovaas? Others to consider....Jim Airey (again in terms of his British career), Dave Shields, Wayne Brown, David Biles, Dave Tyler.1 point

Thanks to Nicholls & Jorgensen. This is the thing, you say the racing was ok on Monday, that shows how desensitised you've become if that was an ok meeting. What was on offer on Monday would be a bad meeting anywhere else. King's Lynn is an FTG, 1 lap race track, you've all forgotten what racing actually looks like.1 point

Ellis has a rolling ave from Birmingham in 2019, so shouldn't need 4H & 4A to get an ave. His Prem converted ave should be replaced by his Champ rolling ave on 1st August!1 point

Dag Lovaas was only 25 during his final British season (1976), having reached the world final in 1974 and won the league with a 10pt+ average in 1973 riding for Reading. He also averaged over 10 for Hackney (74) and Oxford (75). I believe his retirement was complete and he did not ride domestically after leaving British speedway.1 point

Urgh what a flop up so.....Tuesday July 20th. the rearrangement of Kent TouchTec Kings vs. Eastbourne Eagles (Championship KOC First Round, second leg) Tuesday September 21s, . Kent TouchTec Kings vs. Birmingham Brummies (Championship) [moving from July 20th.] This means that the fixture previously scheduled for Sept. 21st., Kent Iwade Garage Royals vs. Berwick Bullets will be moved to a later date in October – Provisional 19th Oct. Surely given the fixture congestion and requirement to actually get other rounds of the KOC completed (a competition that could have been dropped from the start) the tie could have just been handed to Eastbourne and costs saved?. As it stands there is now a dead rubber match to come in the middle of summer, a league match pushed back to unpredictable September and another Royals fixture shunted into the cold nights of October. It has to be said that the decision making at Kent is questionable at times....1 point

We can all be team managers onthe sidelines but at the end of the day the promotion stuck by the team that they announced last year which let the riders know that they at least had a team place fir this season. I’m the same as most people that want too see us at the top end of the league and if all the team had been firing on all cylinders I’m sure the team wouldn’t be far away. Form is everything I’m sure for the riders but there will always be bumps in the road. Jye has had a couple of big crashes already this year , NBJ had some mechanical issues away from home which could have changed some results if the engine hadn’t givin up. Danny is starting to put some decent scores away from home and Leon is having a superb season . Coty not being here causes issues but it’s nobody’s fault . A win is a win in my book . I’m just happy that we are getting too see meetings when some supporters aren’t . We just need to get behind the team and promotion.1 point
