Then, normally I would have been happy to pay the 34.00 for myself and my missus but don't have the time to watch another 15 heats and certainly at 26.00 pounds each, wouldn't anyway, factor in programmefuel etc and 60.00 plus is a lot of money it doesn't cost me that on groceries for the week!should definately have the option of paying just for the senior meeting and to penalize those who would want to just do that is very very wrong.its things like this that make me angry,I know it's been a tough year for promoters, but it's also been a tough year for everyone,so,this is one couple who for sure will not be attending and hope that the promotion won't miss the 34.00 they would have normally got, plus programme, car park,etc..!!6 points

Its an interesting experience going to a meeting as a neutral , you dont get wrapped up in the emotional side of things . Was impressed with how Berwick are coping with all the covid nonsense , it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary being at a meeting . To be honest I didn't really notice that much difference in Berwick's track , but in saying that , there were some decent races , the highlight being Etheridge and Howarth in heat 12 . Don't think Berwick will come up against a better duo than Douglas and Morris again this season , so if Gappmaier continues his home form and Flint continues on his sharp upward curve , get Summers and Busk Jacobsen going and the Bandits will be a match for anybody .4 points

From what I've seen this season, Isle of Wight are missing out on a good league campaign. I'm new to the National League, but the three meetings I've season at Berwick have been entertaining. Each team I have seen so far has had a success story (Mason Watson, Greg Blair, George Rothery, the McGurks, Archie Freeman, both Thompsons, Josh Embleton, just a few from the teams I've seen). A lot of the meetings are close and have well matched teams. Berwick are also getting very good crowds watching the National League matches as part of double headers. Could have had themselves eight decent home meetings, plus any more they wanted to put together.3 points

Yes you can show your ticket on your phone... Soupy stop using the saving the planet card when it's just because you are too tight to use a bit of paper and a squidge of ink... Finally I have two spare tickets if anyone would like to go... just send me a PM and I will sort things out... that goes for any Edinburgh fans who maybe missed out... or any fans for that matter who would like to go... I hope that a way of funding legal action is found to fight the Speedway authorities. What they are doing is undoubtedly illegal and was proven so in the 1970s (maybe very early 80s) when the ACU were taken to court after threatening the withdrawal of ACU race licences of riders competing in AMCA mx events. Didn't stop the ACU just making threats they knew had no bite for years after the decision until it got to the stage everybody just ignored them. Remember how they threatened the licences of any rider practicing at Lydd not so very long ago? I can't remember it ever happening because they knew it was an empty threat. In addition if they are treating riders as professionals then their contracts should come under employment law, no more asset system, the addition of sick pay, holiday pay and pension schemes, no dropping riders to bring in somebody else because the numbers fit unless you're willing to keep paying the dropped rider. Put all that under threat and I suspect they will withdraw their threats to riders.3 points

The Match was lost as soon as they had the Worrall twins and we had Aarnio for Barker, how can Aarnio cover for Barker. What a joke, also Roynon should have had heat 15, to put Aarnio in is very strange decision.2 points

Spot on - it was mentioned on the tannoy that Drew has bikes in Gdansk and so could get an early flight back, whereas Dan had to drive back with his equipment.2 points

Commentators curse there Gaz... but never mind good meetin and when am sober a might post summat sensible but we'll done the Monarchs... some very good racing... Josh Pickering move of the night (of the last few years really) the other Aussie Kye took to the spot and looked good and the two Worralls as ever know the fastest way round Brough... and I never thought I would hear myself saying this but get well soon Ben Barker as a scoring no 1 would have made all the difference... in both meetings... Here we go part two the Gems and several more sherbits and I must add I had one of them hog roast banjos and what a feed... it was spot on and even a fat lad like me would struggle to eat two of them... But am gonna try... Regards THU2 points

Yet i can sit in my local with another 5 people and not have to wear a mask unless going to the toilet unreal2 points

But it’s not the rules in the UK? Been to Berwick 3 times, you have to wear masks on entry and whilst moving, can take mask off once at ur place in the stadium, how it should be2 points

It is worrying. He went from 1st to last in a race he gated at Ippo. At the moment his GSA is 4.20. Over the first 3 meetings so far he has averaged 2.93. I don't know what points we have to play with after Wells. Edit.. I've had a look. According to Speedway GB site, the following are the current GSA's Riss 6.65 TJ 6.18 Lawson 5.64 Kerr 5.53 Ty 4.20 Wells 4.44 ( his 2019 ave for BV) Not sure if thats what they will go on. So 32.64 if my maths are correct. Leaving us 2.86 under the 35.5 limit. So if i'm right, at the moment we can replace Ty with a rider up to 7.06. (Cookie is 0.53 over at the moment) Maybe time to get ruthless if we want to stand a chance of ever winning anything.2 points

We definitely need to replace Jordan, six weeks is more than half of the season. We only have 7 more home meetings this season so we can’t go RR for that long. As others have said we will lose the extra points available when Anders average goes up and end up with having to get guests for Jordan who will be at reserve. There are riders out there in this country available as King’s Lynn keep finding them. If the promotion doesn’t make changes this is going to be a very long & short season if you get what I mean.2 points

I agree with you 100% but, it’s asking a lot of the riders to protest when all they want to do is ride2 points

Bit slanted Eck Wright is a couple of meetings back after an extended lay off... it's no different to when Willie Lawson made his come back and to be fair he's not set the world alight... James done pretty well up there considering... Regards THJ2 points

This would be a perfect opportunity to use our remaining points up after the loss of Klint. Although it’s harsh on Jordan we really must sign BWD or a double up rider. As there are only two small tracks in our league we need to sign a big track rider rather than say Ed kennett. if we don’t act sharpish we won’t have any points to play with due to Anders sensational start to the season and massive average increase. if we do get BWD he would be at reserve when Anders moves up !!!!!2 points

You're dead right, although that would have to be done very much off the record. I don't see the difference between refusing to select and a ban - they are effectively pretty much the same thing. However, we do know only too well how bloody vindictive the BSPL can be. Two other points : If 14 NL riders compete in just one meeting on the Island they can't dump them all because there just aren't enough at NL standard as it is. Verge, King & Wirtzfeld all have close ties to the Warriors; could Eastbourne drop all three ?? My suspicion is that put to the test not all clubs would actually behave the way the BSPL might want them to. There could be a lot more understanding out there for Isle of Wight than they might like.2 points
-
The first sign of any legal action and they’ll run for the hills. They can’t ban riders what they can do is threaten not to select them and for that you don’t need any legal recourse as it’s a matter of team choice who they choose and who they don’t and that’s what’s currently troubling the riders2 points

People who take the knee aren't booed because they receive racial abuse but because they do so in support of a decidedly dubious movement, many of whose members are as racist as anybody they protest against not forgetting the whole take a knee nonsense was inspired by the death of a career criminal. I have no issues with anybody wanting equality, everybody deserves it and it should be offered unconditionally by all. However I have always had doubts that the way to gain equality for anybody is for a relatively small minority of a minority to behave outrageously. I would go out of my way to back any individuals right to be treated in the same way as others but that includes the need to avoid the positive discrimination demanded by the more extreme minority groups. Equality will only come from the majority mixing with minorities on equal terms, we have come a very long way in the past few decades because of that but all BLM and the more outrageous Gay pride events do is create further division. Equality comes from people not caring about the race, religion or sexuality of others. Standing up and screaming 'look at me I'm not the same as you' achieves nothing good.2 points

The 8 point handicap in 13/15 always makes it look worse than it was. Encouraged by Roynon, Wright and Mountain. Stormy was ok and will get better. Clegg not on it at all but will also get better. Aarnio was utter gash and Alcock is not Championship standard. Having Barker in double figures will very mean we should be competitive at home.1 point

Agree with you regarding Etheridge, he would've been my pick, it is asking a lot of Leon to beat the Leicester top two. Just guessing but Leon has bike issues in his previous ride, maybe he was testing a bike for the National League meeting, that didn't work as he stopped at the line in heat one.1 point

I think its been said (not sure if its documented) that in a democratic Country an organisation like the ACU can't stop a motorcycle club not affiliated to them from staging events, hence why the Mablethorpe Sand racing club has been running continually up to the pandemic for 50 years since 1970. Similarly there is still a handful of flapper greyhound tracks that are not affiliated to the main greyhound racing organisation. Like I said take this matter to a court of law and the BSPL would likely lose and British speedway is also in no position to ban a load of NDL standard riders cause the League would cease to be competitive and viable.1 point

Good news that Rory hasnt broken anything. But unlikely he will be fit to ride in this meeting. So who will we get in as a guest? Bjarne might be a good shout if available.1 point

the problem is now the view is, if you don't support it you are against it, there is no reasoned debate because if you speak out against supporting anything you are branded as being against things it just seems that there is only point of view allowed now, which is a shame1 point
-
Why cant we have debate anymore? Not supporting pride means your homophobic Don't take the knee, your racist Have different views on how to tackle Covid from the government, your a conspiracy theorist Your not vegan, then you like to kill animals and don't want to stop climate change There is only one view allowed now, and you need to support it without comment1 point

Liking the BSPL bellenders , however the facts are Scunny can apparently put on this kind of meeting under whatever guise they choose, but the same courtesy is not being extended to the IOW which is threatening the existance of Speedway under any form on the Island, this stinks of dictatorship and has no place on the island of Britain, may i suggest Godfrey moves to Russia or China where his form of Chairmanship is more in line with there way of life. In my humble opinion it should be Barry Bishop leading the BSPL (impossible now they are not members) as he can learn a number of BSPL promoters a thing or three about what Promotion stands for and i dont mean being promoted from Labourer to Foreman. I really hope that the IOW can survive this blatant pressure being put on riders by persons known and unknown, after all its for the good of the Sport that Speedway on the Island survives under whatever guise its able to. Its just a great pity that there is not a sugar daddy out there that could sponsor meetings with enough money for the riders to be able to stick two fingers up to the bullies of British Speedway.1 point

The spearhead of Boothroyd, Boocock and Younghusband, plus Tommy Roper, gave Halifax a formidable top 4, with good support from the second year Australians Bert Kingston, Dennis Gavros and Bob Jameson, resulting in the British League title going to The Shay in 1966.1 point

From our point of view yes it does seem petty. Having been part of the group which included UkMartin, Brian Buck, Brian Bott, Chris Browne, Gerry Taylor, Kitten, Sue connop (bless) , little leddy et all, it was touch an go speedway would get full permission just to race one night per week. With the flats appearing close by do we want to ruffle more feathers going forwards.1 point
