Firstly thoughts with Jordan. Looked an absolute shocker. This was my first and probably last time at Birmingham tonight. Having moved to the city at the end of 2019 I was pretty excited to have a track on my doorstep again having not had a local track since Reading - plus Wolves and Leicester not too far away… but I won’t be back! An utter shambles with 5.5 hours to prepare the track, yet as 7.30 rolled around there was a lot of standing around and not a lot of track work…. Absolute contempt for the paying customers. Not sure what happened there but it’s unacceptable - before anyone accuses me of being a ‘keyboard warrior’ and praising the promotion… I’m a paying customer and I didn’t pay to stand around for over an hour listening to music that is older than me whilst being told we’ll be underway shortly again and again. Speedway in the UK just doesn’t get it. As a mid 30s fan of almost 24 years with disposable income I’m exactly the type of fan Speedway should be trying to attract and maintain. But there is very little thought for the fans and nothing to attract newbies to stay. I was planning on attending at least 2 meetings a week across Brum, Wolves and Leicester. But having endured Wolves opening abandonment, Birmingham tonight and a very slow delayed first Lion Cubs meeting I think I’m finally done… there are better things to waste my time and money on I’m afraid. The sport needs an absolute revolution in this country to drag it kicking and screaming into this century.13 points

I think that questions need to be asked of the Birmingham promotion after this meeting. To say that they could only get to work on the track at 5 hours before the start time seems like a very feeble excuse for starting the meeting over an hour late. I did see the that they were also delayed the start as well to get supporters who were still queuing to get into the stadium as well, but Birmingham really do need to get their act together otherwise they could see fans walking away from the sport if they are not careful. And for me it is only fair that the result should stand.5 points

And so they staged a crash after heat 10 had started - grow up and be sensible5 points

Remember, Ian, Woffy wanted to train GB youngsters in GB but was told to go away. Well, he is doing that in Poland but on a one to one basis. He took Robert Lambert under his wing, taught him on machine prep, training the body, nutrients etc and look at Rob now where he is. And he doing the same with Dan. Lent Dan his bikes or engines tail end of last year, this years started off more then fine for Dan. If he has been sticking to fitness plan and nutrition plan that’s probably Dan looks a man on the machine rather then a boy.3 points

He may be 42, but he has always seemed to have a high fitness level. So I wouldn't have thought so!3 points

Oh dear, that doesn't bode well for Newcastle. They have a similar arrangement, with the stadium owners, on a Sunday. Oh and Roynon as new track curator.2 points

Having been to Belle Vue on Friday for a very well run Colts and BYC meeting I agree - not all tracks are bad! If I were a ‘good’ promoter with a well run track I’d be having a word with these ‘poor’ promoters as every farce has an impact on the image of the whole sport and visiting attendances… am I going to try and talk my partner into going to Plymouth now when we are down in Devon after a couple of shambles elsewhere… probably not as their perception is it’s gonna be crap and it’s too much of a risk to waste an evening of holiday. It’s a lose lose for the sport I’m afraid.2 points

Feeling really sorry for all the Redcar fans whose long journey has been totally wasted. I'm sure that the Brummies will have a Just Giving web page set up to raise funds for the unexpected refunds... It seems to be the way that things get financed there these days. I took a walk to the stadium this evening, but my heart sank when I saw the farce outside the stadium. Given that the weather forecast was for rain showers, with one thing and another I just gave up and went back home again. It makes you wonder how many of those who persevered and paid to get in will ever want to go again. "Elite Sport" they call this??? What a joke.2 points

I'll work on it Warmest day this year, what could possibly go wrong? Wish the fella Jordan Stewart all the best for a rapid recovery2 points

Absolutely agree. I was following on speedway updates and commented that the delay was unacceptable and was told my comment was unnecessary and I should be grateful something was happening (at the time nothing was).2 points

I gave up with it after watching Lee Richardson lose his life in 2012 but still try to take an interest, but it's sadly waning I'd like to ask those devoted supporters who attended this evening why should I attend again? Good to see you posting on here again Deano2 points

55 races at Frittenden last Sunday for £15. Excellent value for money.2 points

Although heat 10 wasn't completed the result should stand because of the Birmingham managements incompetent track prep. The meeting should never have started an hour late with a 10pm curfew in place. One bad accident and the meeting won't finish as was proved. Either start on time or 8pm at the latest or call it off. All the away fans should get a refund! British speedway is a joke. I don't think it's worth the effort and money to attend anymore. I give up!2 points

Delays have been the curse of British speedway for years. As my mate once said to me. ' the problem with speedway is, far too many things can go wrong'. It's hard to argue with that.2 points

I don't think Speedway should go down the 'adopt a trendy cause month'. Other sports feel compelled to display how virtuous they are, kneel for this, stand for that, wave for the other etc. Where does it end? Colour blind awareness month (No red, green lights) Left, Right, history month, where riders ride clockwise, then anticlockwise in alternate heats. Empathy for loosers month, where the rider finishing last gets four points? Enough of this wokery.2 points

I notice there is a banger/stock car track, The Mendips Raceway, Somerset. Could the track ever be used for speedway? Sometimes a joint operation with bangers and speedway do not work, Skegness as an example.2 points

The wolves kerbs are 50mm above the track as per the rule book states. So nothing out of spec.2 points

I’m a Ipswich fan but took in the Peterborough meeting as a neutral. And pedersen was on the pace and giving his in every lap of every race. to be fair to him he is not a number one but is the highest average rider. it annoys me when people judge riders on the scores on updates when they haven’t seen the meeting. and normally the poster hasn’t been to a live meeting for years.2 points

For me this season Bewley looks like a man on a bike where in the past he's looked like a boy on a bike. Whether that's natural growth, the result of a training programme or my imagination I don't know.2 points

Unfortunately many fans may feel the same way and "leave it". Much better would have been for the promoters to charge an additional £4 (adult) which more than likely would have been more acceptable and thus create a higher attendance.2 points

Think your right about Lawson was pencilled in for Riss before he changed his mind. I wonder if Lawson was then ready to replace Proctor after his poor start. But then the untimely departure of Cook left Lynn with no alternative but to replace Cook with Lawson. Now though Lynn have to go in search of a 7pt rider to replace Proctor before they start losing fans through the gate.2 points

You'll need more than a couple of cooks to stir up the witches cauldron - wooden spoon beckons.2 points

To put this in context. Pedersen scored 18 at Scunthorpe, 9+1 at Belle Vue, 0 at Peterborough and 11 at Plymouth. I do not know what went wrong at Peterborough but the rest of the scores are very good2 points

Can`t help feeling the Kings let slip their ONE chance of an AWAY win this year! On the plus side...six Kings won a heat and young Gilkes is looking a real diamond. Sure lot of the crowd turned up to see Crump....but doubt he would have done as well as King? Looking forward to the Kings first home meeting (at last!!!!!)2 points

Yet another example which dispels the saying 'if only the promoter had owned the track, they would still be running'!2 points

A tough test for the Bandits and Bullets, facing the reigning champions of both their leagues. Thirty heats, and both matches maybe too close to call? New month = new averages. Bandits will have Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen as their No 1, while in the Bullets team both Kieran Douglas and Mason Watson are promoted to the 1-5, replaced at reserve by Ben Rathbone and Ryan MacDonald. Although Shielfield Park can accomodate considerably more spectators than some other stadiums at present, Covid restrictions are still in place and admission will be by pre-booked e-ticket only. Book at https://www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets/ As eight out of the ten sections in the main stand were sold out more than 24 hours prior to the opening night double-header, if you prefer to sit in a certain area (you can select your section as you buy the ticket) it is advisable to book early. While not required when seated or standing in your selected spot on the terracing, masks must be work when entering, leaving and moving about at all times. Stadium will be open from 4.30pm, and tapes go up in the first match at 6.30pm sharp. Programmes (£3) are only available from the usual kiosk and snack bars. Please try to have the correct change, to keep things safe and simple.1 point

Why is being gay worth celebrating?? We're all the same, we should treat all as the same. It would also be classed as Homophobic if there was such a thing as 'straight pride'.1 point

A tough start for Jordan - already struggling a little for form and now this! All the best fella1 point

Are people surprised? Fans being charged to watch a professional sport when even at the highest level in the UK, its an amateur sport these days. Will only get worse as well. Time to knock team speedway on the head and change to grasstrack style events.1 point

not saying the crash was where did i say that , time was running out and they had at least a 10 minute mess about before heat 101 point

Pretty disastrous night all round. The 65 minute delay for the track can’t really be excused, if they had access from 2pm then surely 5 1/2 hours was enough time to get into shape to start somewhere near on time. Hope that Stewart isn’t too badly hurt after his nasty sounding crash. He’s had a really torrid start to the year. Result not standing is hard to take too, no idea when they can fit another meeting in and seems very unfair on the Bears.1 point

Sorry Homer , lets be honest here, what a joke British Speedway is. Nothing has changed after the pandemic, still ruined by delays. BEFORE anyone comes on here saying that the safety of riders is parmaount , lets just remind ourseleves why this meeting was delayed in the first place. Birmingham Greyhounds apparently had a surprise dog meeting that the speedway didnt know about ?1 point

What compost has said is right - there is slim to no chance of it happening. Huge parts of the surrounding area has been developed in some way or another that is linked to the new Hinckley point power station works that are ongoing and for years to come. Much more value in redevelopment for housing, hotels and industrial units in this area now than there is for a speedway track.1 point

Yesterday I looked at the number of people looking at each of the three Premiership meetings on the Speedway Update site. There were over 1000 people logged in. If they were to charge £10 to access the stream that’s £10,000 per meeting. All were sell-outs so no loss of attendance income, and would it really cost over £10k to organise it. We have companies who already film meetings and put them on dvd’s which they sell for about £10. it was done last year by Belle Vue and it is being done this year by a team in the Championship I think. Speedway are missing a trick here, we must get our head out of the sand, we have a great product so let’s sell it.1 point

Thinking very much the same thing, very odd choice. Gaters paradise so picking Heeps..... I know its in the rules but doesnt feel right that a home team can use a tactical sub. Plymouth picked wisely with thier guest and saved thier blushes but Goret must be a huge concern.1 point

I have 2 spare tickets for the Berwick meeting. Cost is £35.70. For the main grandstand. £17 plus 85p handling fees for each ticket. An extra £1 if you want me to pop them in the post.
