  1. Why not Speedway taking on diversity and inclusion by adding a Fading Star to their line up to balance the rising star idea that’s been used to fill teams up and save on costs. Though Peterborough are way ahead on this having included 5 in their line-up

  2. Another great meeting. Magic was magic and Bewley is growing in stature every week.

  3. You mean just as Leicester "haven't"? Leicester haven't followed the rules and plugged the gap. They've cheated and are illegally using the R/R facility. The NDL should put someone in place to police the rules and guard against such cheating. They could call him "NDL co-ordinator" or something like that.

  7. Personally I think online sales only will effect attendances.Whilst I realise it may be necessary when attendances are limited, I feel Clubs have to get back to pay at the gate as quick as possible when allowed.Another downside is how many Online sites are also charging a booking fee,not much be said about that, but you can bet it will be happening in some cases.

  9. Crowds were allowed as of yesterday, hence why Friday's scheduled meetings were moved to Saturday. Czestochowa win now nailed on.

  12. "I know little Jimmy hasn't scored a point this season but he has to self isolate, I'll be using a facility until he is able to ride again" - you heard it here first folks!

  13. Yes, the secret world of speedway attendances would make a great storyline for the next Mission Impossible film. Your mission Jim, should you decide to accept it, is infiltrate the BSPA and extract, expose and publish UK speedway attendance stats once and for all. Good luck Jim.

  15. Going some way further back (to the 1940's and early 1950's) any rider who had scored less that 50% of possible points over the previous six matches could be named as reserve, and most clubs used that rule to best advantage, especially for away matches. There was never any kind of restriction on how the top six of a team could be listed, so there was consequently, a lot more scope for the more astute team managers in those days.

  16. Not had to type this for a while but.....Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site? If so, could you please send me a private message which includes your mobile number. Thanks Boy that felt good to finally be able to write that!

  17. You’re a right barrel of laughs aren’t you? We must have been watching a different meeting. The Wroclaw track is superb and offered up a whole stack of passing throughout. Another belter of a speedway meeting to round off a top weekend of action.

  22. The website needs a dedicated ticket page to make it easy to find or have a published time when ticket sales go live. It should always be easy for the customer.

  23. Its fair to say the clubs official site is in need of an update and a modernise, for example last night saw the Championship's team press and practice, you would think that was worthy of a report or an interview or two for the club`s site but at time of writing nothing. I think I`m right in saying that five riders were there with NBJ and Coty Garcia absent. Looking at other clubs websites the Berwick one is a bit of a let down at times.

  24. Personally I think that online sales and booking in advance will slowly kill off many attractions if not addressed when things get back to some sort of normality. I know it's off topic but I won't be renewing my English Heritage membership until I'm able to visit when it suits me and on a whim and not to have to book a time slot and/or date in advance.

  26. With another issue being getting fans to buy into purchasing tickets in advance to attend a sport that is so impacted by rain... Especially at those tracks that have 'tourists' who may only be in the area for a week so a 'free entry to the next five matches' won't be of any use to them.. Maybe it's time to offer full refunds if matches are called off? Easy to do with card payments..

  29. As above (belatedly) I always enjoy reading Backtrack over and over (!), and very good to hear from Brain Larner, much more has been heard of and from Ian Thomas. Shame their partnership & friendship ended with moving Newcastle into the top league, both realsied on reflection it was a mistake, you can't win 'em all but they had a lot of success in speedway....

Point I made was they cant sanction certain gatherings and not others all or nothing. I am also sure you will remember the Violence at a pro independence March last summer in Buchanan Street remember that one ?, And yes it was a minority of idiots that day also

  44. Totally see both sides of the cost argument. Very rarely in life do things get cheaper but price and value of things are all relative to the individual. What’s cheap for one person at £20 is extortionate to another because we all have differing levels of disposable income. As I’ve said before, I’d previously count myself a die hard fan and attended any meeting regardless of opposition/line up when the sport was in the £15 bracket. So effectively the club could count on me attending let’s say 20 meetings at £15 (£300 across a season). To me I started to think it’s not value for money around the £18 mark so I started to pick and choose my meetings and I think I only did about 10 in 2019. That meant the club got about £180 from me. Now at £20 I will give it a go because I’ve missed it and want to start living a normal life again. But if the racing is poor and the team is as weak as it looks on paper, I’ll probably do a maximum of 4 or 5 meetings this season. That means the club will get £80 to £100 from me this year. So to put it simply, speedway needs to decide whether it wants £300 from me a season or let’s say £100. Add in that I always buy a programme and normally a pint or two if not driving. Multiply me by say another 50 to 100 likeminded fans and that’s a fair amount of revenue across a season.

  45. Well the stadium is now free, one of the reasons bsi gave for cancelling the gp was transport needed to be booked for shale etc without knowing what rules the Welsh government would have, so disappointed no gp but understand reasons, where the Welsh rugby only need the go ahead for a crowd then the game can go ahead as pitch will already be in place
