I’ve taken the step to purchase a season ticket. I think Plymouth is around 50 minutes from where I live. I do appreciate though that there are folk with much tighter schedules than I have these days. Looking forward to the 17th for sure. Strangely, the last time I was at Plymouth was when Glasgow visited....led by Joe Screen. Up the Gladiators!!2 points

There's housing in the part of Avonmouth that I live in ! I know what you mean though, there is plenty of room around the Avonmouth to Severn Beach area and what I believe to be suitable sites on land between the M5 and M49 motorways.2 points

I'm sure you'll be able to remove a mask to smoke in a designated area Recently at work in front of someone being interviewed for a job, I lit a posh smelly candle using a match, I then attempted to blow the match out forgetting I was wearing my mask... After several burnt fingers the interviewee decided he was too intelligent to work with me2 points

When supporters grumble because prices have increased this year, remember most clubs pulled in hardly any revenue last year, but still had fixed costs to pay. This year, I suspect attendance will be down at least initially. Some people will still have concerns over their own personal health, mixing with others. So numbers could be down because of that. Also, due to health concerns, the government has put into effect some measures to protect supporters. There will inevitably be a cost incurred by clubs. These costs will be passed on to supporters. So it’s pretty certain there would be an increase, but having said that, and taking BV as an example, you can still get into the stadium for £17 if you are a “concession” ie a senior citizen.2 points

You may be surprised by how many can manage keyboard skills and be able to book online. For example, I am 74, have a smartphone, tablet, laptop, and pc, and I am nothing unusual. I recall 30 years ago when computers became popular there were lots of schemes that provided “computer familiarisation” (training) courses, very often free or very low charge. Some, like my parents, couldn’t be bothered, whereas others took up the offer and become quiet good and since then gained the benefits from what computerisation can do2 points

I had to go to the Halifax area in 1985, on business and took the opportunity to see the stadium 'upfront and personal'. I thought it was a lovely stadium! When I heard the Hams were moving the Dukes from Halifax to Bradford (Odsal), I did question in my own mind the eventual wisdom.1 point

Yes I agree its good to have speedway back especially at championship level for Plymouth, from what I've seen and heard we may surprise a few teams with our long tail if the youngsters click that tail is going to be wagging1 point

I believe the location previously under consideration is where those giant windmills are now.1 point

A great chat with the O O . i was at the Sheffield meeting ( British Scandinavian World Champ Qualifier) &recall that Ole won his first race against 3 other Scandinavian riders. He finished with 5 points that night but he made an impression with me & i followed his progress via the speedway star when he came over to UK to ride at Newcastle. When he moved to the Midlands i was able to watch him regularly. His move to Brandon was "utopia " for me & the coming together of the C O & Ole was a match made in heaven. He is,as you say very charismatic, & I remember being one of the many recipients of a wave from both him and his wife when they passed us driving down the M6 to wembley with my Ole Olsen sticker in the rear window. My two youngsters in the back were "made up" they really were the great days of speedway .1 point

Yeah without Woffinden, Wroclaw need Janowski and Laguta to score 15 odd each, Chugonov 10 which leaves Bewley with about 5. Hard to imagine that’s all going to happen!1 point

Go the whole hog & buy a season ticket, I have. I can see plenty disappointed fans missing the first few meetings. In the words of Fred Pontin " REMEMBER BOOK EARLY".1 point

Some years ago, I transported a rider to meetings. George Rothery was his main rival in Novice class at Scunthorpe back in 2014! George once smashed Chris' front wheel in an over-enthusiastic overtake, which annoyed Chris' step-brother considerably, but personally I think that it was just racing. I am glad to see that George is progressing so well.1 point

We seem to be blessed with many good podcasts at the moment and while some seem to have fallen by the way, others have come to the party. 2 that I have listened recently that are worthy of mention feature 2 riders from opposite ends of the Speedway spectrum but both great characters. Nigel Crabtree on the Super Seven podcast, no heirs and graces, what a great character, the type of character that Speedway sadly misses, a solid top class club man just happy to have some fun, make some money and no particular desire to become a wold champion. and... Ole Olsen, I don't think I ever really appreciated what a charismatic man he is/was. Listening to him reminded me a bit of Tony Rickardsson. The story about the trophy he won at Newcastle had me laughing out loud https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy8yNDg3MzU2MC9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcw== Give em a listen1 point

They are listed as Russians on the official starting list from FIM Europe. This was not the case with Russian riders in the Ice Speedway World Championship earlier this year.1 point

You'll probably find that its a media journalist with a phone that has taken the photo and posted it before the official photographer has had the chance. Unfair on the Kent photographer but it seems to happen regularly nowadays.1 point

Is there nobody fans know who could assist them in booking tickets online? That's what I would do rather than miss out .....1 point

I first went to the Firs in the early sixties. I no longer attend speedway because it has stopped being entertaining. It is inefficiently run (major league with just six teams) and the "entertainment" produced is very poor. There appears to be very little willingness to promote the sport with those in charge accepting that they have a fourth rate product. Numbers attending will continue to reduce with those who do actually turn up doing so out of habit and a misguided loyalty.1 point

I was merely responding to a "stupid" post that compared speedway with "22 fairies running up and down a field" (aka football). Have you ever considered the possibility that speedway may be in it's current state because of the "stupid" people who run it and the "stupid" people who willingly accept all the crap which is tossed in their direction?1 point

Could be useful for any rider struggling to pick up points in the Championship, if they are scoring well or winning races in the National League, to keep up their confidence. But for me the National League is made for riders like Mason Watson and Keiron Douglas. Really hope these young local lads progress this season.1 point

You always read and hear that preparing a Speedway track is so difficult... That looks piss easy to me....1 point

Good for you you go and enjoy yourself. Personally, I’ve had a gutful of the whole damn thing. Yesterday, I was given a volley of abuse from one person as my mask wasn’t all the way up yards before I’d even reached the doors of the supermarket. I’ve abided by the rules and never refused to wear one, and was fully prepared to raise my mask over my nose when I actually reached the supermarket like I have every time before. What the hell has happened to people? Sick to the back teeth of it all. Be ar$ed with standing there for a couple of hours with a mask on especially if draconian measures are in place like in the post above where we’re going to be monitored by stewards like naughty school kids. I don’t miss it that much.1 point

The biggest problem i can foresee for British Speedway are the weekly E Winner Monday night fixtures - there will be only one winner(no pun intended) there !!1 point

Boo bloody hoo , so we've got to wear a face mask for probably the 1st few months of the season until restrictions are eased . Well why don't we ask the Swindon fans if they'd be prepared to wear a mask in the stadium if it meant they could see their team on track this season ? We've been following guidelines and restrictions for the best part of 14 months now what's another few months if it allows the sport of speedway to start this season. Look at the bigger picture people , before it's too late .1 point

Seem to be lots of postponed matches in the Polish leagues this year so far... (Nothing to do with no/reduced crowds and the hope that full crowds can enter later in the season I am sure).. In the SS, Oliver Berntzon mentions that this 'slow start' to the season means he has a good many meetings condensed into a relatively short period of time, meaning he is having to stay in Poland to ensure he will be available for them all.. He also said that they were racing three meetings in five days in the coming weeks to catch up... I think the BSPL might need to keep Monday's Eurosport fixture the only meeting to be ran that day if the same thing will apply to the rest of the riders...1 point

Speedway Star reporters aren't there to investigate though are they? They just copy and paste the press releases that the BSPZzz and the club press officers hand out to them. Rocking the boat would be more than their jobs are worth.0 points
