So for the last few weeks, you can sit at a table outside with others and not had to wear one. On 17 May you can sit inside a pub and don’t have to wear one, yet they saying got to wear one at a completely open outdoor stadium.5 points

NICE to hear. We will be producing a 64-page pre-season special next week and have also taken the plunge and increased the paper quality which we previously changed to keep us afloat.4 points

oh the joy of going to speedway.lol. stay apart, face masks, which can only be removed for eating and drinking no social interaction etc etc. well f..k that and if thats for all speedway then they can shove it. i expect their will be covid marshalls to enforce the stupid rules and making sure the zombies are keeping their 2 metre distance and following the arrows on them directional arrows on the ground. i can only hope that grasstrack doesnt follow this madness3 points

Different rules for different councils one presumes. Having to wear a mask outside while having to distance is utterly ridiculous but if that’s what the council says then so be it I guess.3 points

There must be big doubts over Klindt, Holder, Bewley and Kurtz at least. Becker rides in Poland too, presumably Masters also? These riders are going to find getting in and out of Poland regularly very difficult.2 points

From what i can remember his man management skills with the riders was his greatest asset. He reminded me of a John Berry outspoken at times but cared greatly about the sport RIP Jon.2 points

The issue of insuring equipment may be so, but it was said you either can’t get insurance or it would cost too much vs the value of the tractors. As I said before, that isn’t true. If the tractors weren’t insured then that was a big boo-boo as you most certainly can get insurance at very reasonable rates if you speak to the right people and brokers.1 point

Oh well, I got that wrong - both start at 3pm! I will update the website now!1 point

Does worry me, with people wanting do do it "my way" instead of adhering what the authorities say. My concern is, there will be another wave of COVID, clamp down again, and the holiday the wife and I have in the UK being spoilt for second year running. This years holiday is booked for middle July, it is to Norfolk for a week, and when you go on holiday you put money into the local economy, they need it now more then ever. Hope idiots dont spoil it for everyone. If you cant do what is asked, then please dont go.1 point

· It also says the following:- " If you are in a seated area when moving past others please avoid face to face contact with others" For goodness sake if you've got a mask on what difference will it make if you look at someone, especially as we can stand in the car park without masks and chat to people. What on earth has happened to common sense!! 21st June all restrictions are hopefully being removed so I won't be going to Ipswich before then.1 point

Outside in open air that is ridiculous, can understand having to wear one going into toilets etc but outside with reduced capacity so distanced, just no need.1 point

Seems to me that Redleader is yet another new poster with "his own agenda".1 point

Ah, with so much going on to prepare for the season, I don't think that had been top of the agenda. I'm pretty sure that start-time will be sometime between 5pm and 6.30pm so plan for a start-time between those two times. Next time I speak to Rob G, I'll ask him and then I'll update them on the website. Apologies. Incidentally, if you have any questions for the club, it's better to ask through the twitter rather than on here - we try to answer questions posed on twitter, but it's easy to lose them on here, where half the posts aren't even about Scunny.1 point

I guess its not their fault,,, but if i have a face nappy on for more than a few mins i struggle to breath,,,, maybe I can wear my face shield I wear at work,1 point

As some one else has stated the crowd for the 85 belle vue meeting was quite a bit more than half of 6385. But the rest of your post is spot on and just bolsters my opinion that a return to The Shay in the nineties was NEVER a realistic possibility no matter what others are saying now, due to the changes already occurring to the configuration; and greater changes in the planning process as well.1 point

I am not sure about this statement, the rumours Allen was coming back and wanted more money started well before we signed Josh Macdonald.1 point

The attendance seemed very big for the Belle Vue meeting, run after the 1985 word final. At the time i thought it was Halifax's biggest crowd in years.1 point

Read the club statement and was wondering who the three heat leaders are if we are sticking by the announced 7. I see 1 heat leader 3 second strings and 3 reserves . That on any given occasion could be 1 second string 4 reserves and 2 number 8s it's going to be hard going at times but never mind its only speedway and nobody really cares anyway . Having said that can't wait to see some action1 point

The closure of all terraced areas at The Shay in 1985 lasted just three early-season Halifax Town FC games. By January 1986, Halifax RLFC, hiring the ground on a one-off basis for a First Division game with Widnes, because of problems with the Thrum Hall floodlights, attracted a 6,385 crowd to The Shay (more than double any crowd Halifax Dukes attracted during their final season, 1985). The speedway club, incidentally, were sub-tenants of the football club, who chose to hike the rent circa 1985 - one of several factors in the Dukes leaving for Odsal. £25,000 is the figure that sticks in my mind. The Shay was reconfigured quite a few years before the rugby league club began sharing the stadium in 1998. The first and second bend area was removed circa 1990. It was replaced with a gently inclined open standing area. In 1996, a stand was built on the site of the third and fourth bends. Later that year, an identical stand replaced the open standing area at the opposite end of the ground.1 point

They are probably the extra catering caravans in case the glass grandstand/ restaurant isn't functioning?!1 point

I just hope that Eurosport show ALL the races. I seem to remember in the past they have just missed heats out while showing much of the time they has showing riders messing about at the tapes and gardening. I do not even mind not seeing the meeting live but showing the same day with all the messing about edited out but ALL the races shown in full.1 point

Yeah well there is the chance I read it wrong during the day and really am an idiot...1 point

Perhaps they haven't realised that a 1930 meeting start time actually means no earlier than 1945hrs?!1 point

Surely the admission price can’t be increased. A team with only one heat leader , Lambert replaced by Bridger can’t justify a increase.1 point

Premier Sports havnt shown live speedway for last 2 weeks. They keep showing repeats or they don’t bother to change titles. Not impressed1 point

Nice to hear some practicing going on at Ashfield today , miss the sound of those bikes .1 point

Mine was on the mat at 0500 when I got up, that's three weeks on the trot with no problems now after issues arising during the first three weeks, I suppose there's always glitches with a new service, the service at present is faultless to be fair, hope it's the norm going forward, magazine is always a great read, what a job the team have done during lock down1 point

I either pick up the star from Smiths in Liverpool Street or the main Tesco in Chelmsford, Smiths has been very mixed, some weeks loads of copies, others nothing at all but Tesco always has them without fail. I had subbed to the star for many years, probably over 20 but I do prefer buying it off the shelf.0 points
