Lynn have tweeted a few times in the last couple of weeks about May 17th and the two most detailed ones (one linked to a story on the club website) suggest that they are waiting for confirmation (presumably from the local council) to ‘finalise plans’ which surely has to be about what they can and can’t do for a speedway meeting in the stadium and most importantly how many people are allowed in. Until this has happened I don’t think there is a lot more they can do.5 points

Motor Lublin is a real contender for the league title this year ! Grigory Laguta vs Gleb Chugunov - what a great race in heat 7 ! Laguta at his best !2 points

From what I know Redcar are no different. Whilst they have massively changed for the better since the dark Havelock days they still operate on a budget and riders don’t get paid over the top rates. Having spoken to many riders who have ridden for them since 2017 they say they ride there for less money than they could get elsewhere, because it’s a good ,safe, track, with no unnecessary pressure applied and even in the Havvy days, they get paid on time. Riders ride best when there happy !2 points

Startrax have announced ticket availability and pricing for the Stock Car World Final later in the year. That will be their major focus beyond the big task of getting the place ready for opening night. And with a two day final where tickets are £39 per night to stand it should be a pay day that will make all his hard work worthwhile.1 point

Was KK fault so why shouldn't he be excluded ? Too many times something happens and is classed as "1st bend bunching"1 point

Same with Newcastle, but it would appear that the Council has now allowed a few more people in for those 2 meetings,1 point

Nothing was ever straightforward during speedway's dark ages. In 1957, for example, some tracks did not not announce race times in a number of meetings during the season. The new 19" tyre was trialled at the beginning of 1956, with the Leicester programme on 11th May 1956 stating for the first time that the 4 lap and 3 lap records were set using the old (22") tyre. The track record of 66.8 set using the old tyre at Leicester by Len Williams on 10th July 1953 stood for a few years. Race times at the track in early 1956 were generally around 2 to 3 seconds slower than at the end of the 1955 season. The programmes continued to state that 66.8 was the track record in the 1957 and 1958 seasons. Peter Craven equalled the record of 66.8 using the new smaller tyre on 6th June 1958 and this was recorded in the programme from the following week onwards. Ken McKinlay equalled the time on 11th July 1958. The names of the three joint record holders were recorded in the programmes until 8th May 1959, when the name of Williams was left out, but then reinstated (without reference to the old tyre) on 12th June 1959. Brian Crutcher then set a new record of 66.0 on 12th June 1959. Whereas Swindon 'scrubbed out' the old larger tyre record in August 1958, Leicester had chosen to retain the record until it was eventually beaten using the newer tyre. At Wimbledon, Ronnie Moore set a record of 62.2 on the old tyre on 26th May 1952. During the early part of 1956 Moore’s 4-lap record continued to be shown in the programmes, but both the old tyre flying start lap record by Barry Briggs and the new tyre record by Ronnie Moore were included. The programme for the meeting on 6th August 1956 did not include Moore’s record, but stated that’ the fastest time recorded’ was 67.4 by Peter Moore and Peter Craven (at the meeting on 30th July 1956). Alan Hunt then lowered the ‘record’ to 66.4 on 6th August 1956. Barry Briggs became the new track record holder with 64.4 on 13th August 1956. Peter Craven lowered the record to 64.0 on 15th July 1957, then reduced it further to 63.8 on 4th April 1958. I will have a look at what information I have for the other tracks later.1 point

This is probably more a discussion for the never-ending Brexit thread, but there are bigoted people - largely the older generation it must be said - everywhere. I am part of the 70% and think the Chinese, Indians, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Malays and Bangladeshis are largely well educated, hard working decent people who make an important contribution to Australia, and I'd say attitudes you're referring to are not as widespread as you perhaps imagine. Australian immigration policy largely also agrees. Bringing this back to the discussion on this thread, if the UK makes more visas available for Australia or even allows complete freedom-of-movement, some people will need to accept that Australia is no longer the Anglo-Saxon country they perhaps still believe. Not that I think there are (m)any Asian speedway riders, so it's perhaps a moot point...1 point

Why not? No Aussie with any sense would come here except for a bit of tourism or temporary work, such as riding a speedway bike.1 point

Apparently work going on at the stadium yesterday, getting ready for the return of speedway hopefully1 point

Two good meetings to watch tonight. I enjoyed them both. Leszno have to be worried about the performance of Doyle so far. I certainly am as I picked him for my fantasy league team Their team this year is built on the top 5 all delivering as they don't have the reserves they used to. Czestochowa also must be worried about Woryna. He is delivering nowhere near what they must have expected to get from him. They'll have been relieved to see Freddie have a good one tonight, though...a lot more like what you'd expect from him ( although ZG probably aren't the toughest of opposition at the top end)1 point

Look's like you know a lot more than you're willing to say. Personally the longer we hear nothing the more I feel we may have seen the last of the Rebels which would be another nail in U.K. speedway's coffin.1 point

I think you misread my meaning. Them being all white is as you say wrong and as I said irrelevant regardless of accuracy I don't doubt your figures at all. Of course of the 70% you estimate a significant proportion view the sizeable minority in a similar way to the Romanians are here in Britain....1 point

1500 to 1800? Really? Wow.. That's a crowd level plenty in the Premiership would love each week.. Shows what running on your "best night" can do if those numbers are correct..1 point

Speedway Star reporters aren't there to investigate though are they? They just copy and paste the press releases that the BSPZzz and the club press officers hand out to them. Rocking the boat would be more than their jobs are worth.1 point

The first part is irrelevant (they are white) but the second (and speak English) is pertinent and a perfectly acceptable expectation1 point

On this morning's news, the talks were said to be going well. The rest of your comments is a non-sequitur: while the fuss over the Romanians was justified, I can't see that 25 million Aussies will want to come here. They are better off at home, except for a season's speedway.1 point

2 meter safety zone is required outside the fence. As for FIM track license (as in license for a track, not facilities) cant see it being as complicated as HA thinks.1 point

Depending on the opposition, weather and if the Football & Rugby were home between 1,500 and 1,800 most weeks, obviously towards the end of the season when fighting for the league crowds were a lot higher . Hopefully we can all be back in the stadium a month tonight watching a Lions win1 point

Looking at the club Web site it shows admission prices as '2020'. Any chance of updating to '2021' and consider adding update to follow if appropriate. It's time to think of the customer: 1) if it's likely to be your highest attended league fixture and crowd number restrictions could leave disappointed fans then move the fixture. 2) A 50p ticket administration charge is shown for each ticket. This to me is another classic way of pi**ing off the majority of fans who want to turn up and pay on the day, but still have respect and understanding of Covid issues. It's time to respect you customer. A fan who misses one meeting finds it easier to miss more... especially after this time period of shutdown.1 point

I sincerely hope not. The NHS meeting is certainly a worthwhile exercise, but for speedway the BenFund is ultra-important. Just ask Ricky Ashworth, Garry Stead or Neil Hewitt, among so many, many others.......1 point
