Jason crump is in the country, self isolating atm hoping to get some laps in very soon5 points

I thought that too. The forum became a playground for and controlled by bullies. Because of this, I guess John Hyam lost the passion to post on a sport he's loved for decades. Sad really.4 points

and I another one who doe not post, not done for a few months, in fact today is the first time I have spent more then a couple minutes, and that was the moto gp section. Not worth the hassle.3 points

Thanks, White Knight. I felt sorry for the way some treated John as if he was some doddering old fool whose opinion counted for little. I fully understand why he felt enough was enough. God forbid you to have a different opinion than some of those on here. Like you, I also no longer post as much as before. In fact, I forget this forum even exists. Best let the people with the same opinions keep it going. Not worth the hassle to disagree with them and have the gang surrounding you. I am just surprised they are shocked Mr Hyam doesn't reply to their emails! Think that says it all.3 points

You've never said a truer word moxey63 - and it is a disgrace. The way someone in their high eighties was treated on this Forum was totally wrong. I used to enjoy most of John's Posts. Anyhow, that is why I don't bother to Post much these days. It's nice to know I am not alone.3 points

maybe brits are the way to go this year what if overseas riders pull out at the last minute or can’t get to travel, or can’t pay for isolation etc3 points

Enjoyed both meetings, particularly the tremendous match at Leszno. Just great to see speedway back. For an opener, some of the racing was really outstanding. If there are more meetings like that, we are in for a super season.3 points

Totally agree. The Forum is dominated by a number of self-opinionated folk. They will crash down on anyone who disagrees with them. Especially, it seems, if you are elderly like John. It is his treatment that was instrumental in my cutting back drastically on my time on this Forum. I have other things to do now. So it is immaterial to me what anyone thinks. I too, communicate with John by e-mail - I would far rather listen to what he has to say than read some of the nastiness to him on here. Anyway - that is my final Post on the subject - unless I feel the need to defend myself.2 points

Would the "Inner sanctum crowd" like to enlighten the mere Pleb Scorpion fans, who the new rider is?2 points

Newcastle have spotted a potential future problem and solved it, they may well now be weaker as a team, but it also gives CV who lets be honest has been a good servant to the sport in Britain a chance to either find another club, or base his season around riding within the EU which will no doubt make travel prospects a lot easier, ,Fairplay to the Redcar management for sticking with their team, over my years watching the sport one of the biggest gripes is too many team changes year on year2 points

Very interesting and encouraging announcement today about Monarchs' plans for an Academy conduit -- leading from tiny toddlers' bikes right up to the Championship team.2 points

The Toruń/Zielona Gora was a great opener but the match this evening with Leszno/Gorzow really was speedway out of the top drawer. Been a while since we saw some action like that at Leszno... what a season opener! Zmarzlik to lead Gorzow to gold?2 points

I am glad I visited the site today. Before then, I felt my problem with other members was all of my doing.1 point

I am sure John will explain why he left the forum and has disappeared from other social media - when he replies to your emails. Or you could get Steve Roberts to ask for you. By the way, I have no problem with you. It was the way you thought you knew me more than I knew myself I didn't care for. When I turned the tables on you and did the same, you had a hissy. I don't come on the forum much nowadays. Since tonight's visit, I find I am not alone. Same reasons too.1 point

It's a certainty that we all have to buy our tickets online. It's the only way you can seriously control the number who attend the meetings.1 point

Shame about Bydgoszcz being off. Still a big profit for the day but the bookies have got very lucky with the rain and snow. Free money on Gdansk -4. My double will be settled on the one selection too so some profit on that. Well done all @Najjer getting the 8/5 for -12 was Birthday, Christmas and Easter presents all rolled into one lol.1 point

Jamrog's done it again. Man of the match for me.1 point

Not true. I get on his back when he posts crap on here, and acts like an idiot. I am one of the few who have actually stated that he is (or should be) a valuable member of the forum, and whenever he has needed assistance (often with technology), I have been one of the first to jump in and help.1 point

Nasty crash. Desperation from older riders no longer able to compete at the top level or at their previous heights.1 point

The bet should stand at the odds taken when the bet was placed. With regards rain offs, I can’t remember the exact rule but I think the bet stands if the meeting is rescheduled to take place within 24 hours. If it isn’t, the bet is voided. If the meeting starts but is cancelled part way through, it depends if the bet has already been settled. For arguments sake, if Zengota has scored 7 by the time the meeting is cancelled the bet would be paid out. If he was on 5 then it wouldn’t but would be voided as the result was still in doubt. R&R has posted some very reliable links to use in the international section of the forum1 point

My wife and I had our second injection on Friday and we were both given the cards with our name, date of the two injections and what batch/make of vaccine we had received. It appears that different parts of the NHS are doing things differently.1 point

Good luck. Another reason why I'm very keen on Zengi is because he's done a few sparring meetings as well as an Individual meeting around Bydgoszcz this season. Ostrow haven't had a competitive meeting or any sparring meetings so the boys haven't done many competitive laps so they might be a bit rusty. I think Zengi should be getting at least 6 from 4 on his home track against weak opposition. He may even get 5 rides due to how biased team managers are to the Polish riders.1 point
-
All will be revealed!! Whether my first ever bet will be a success or not... Looking through the racecard, I agree... Walasek's rides are just as hard as Zengota's, but Zengi is the better rider imo and at home. There's a Chinese on the line if I don't make any winnings tonight1 point

Not had a jab,, so maybe I won't be going to speedway,,,, although being outdoor in a venue with plenty of space makes no sense to me.1 point

You can cash out usually any time before the meeting starts Bydgoszcz -2 after heat 8 looks like a dead cert to me and then -4 after heat 15 looks a banker too... baring a big disaster!1 point

Thanks... Will only be betting a maximum of £5 a bet for a couple weeks anyway, just until I get used to it... So it ain't the end of the world, just need to pick up a few tips here and there, will certainly make watching the ekstraliga meetings on the weekend more exciting if I've got money riding on it1 point

My first ever 3 in one day was King's Lynn, Ipswich and Hackney in 1976. I've also done Exeter, Weymouth and Swindon, also Reading, Rye House and Hackney, plus Peterborough, King's Lynn and Boston. My most unusual 3 in a day must be Long Eaton, Scunthorpe and Halifax in 1982 i think.1 point

Easter Sunday comes with the news that trials will take place to see if Covid passports will work. Several big sporting events are selected for the trials including the FA Cup Final at Wembley ( so the TV news reports). But that is on May 15th with Speedway planning to open on 17th and Kents 1st meeting on 18th. Too close for comfort I think. Will see what Boris has to say on Easter Monday.1 point

whilst i am aware of who said rider is, i dont think the team will be that bad at home.. yeah we're gonna take some absolute thrashings away (just not at plymouth, the oap's will be begging for their retirement home by then) but we should be ok at home1 point

I'm impressed. Wouldn't it be great to think that might be possible again someday? Sadly I fear not. My own claim to fame was two meetings in a day. Not very impressive you might think, but this was as a sidecar passenger. I was just finishing competing a day on the grass at Ugley in Essex when I got the call from another driver to jump on with him at Brandon. Now, you should know that at this point in time (2003) I was fairly new as a competitor. I had, however, been following the Bees for over 30 years and I'd never had the chance to race there before. This was my "field of dreams". Suffice it say that I spent most of the journey back from Essex ringing all my family and friends to get them to come and see me. The sad end is that although I continued racing for another 6 years, I never had another opportunity to race on the hallowed shale at Brandon. I've long since retired and my "field of dreams" is rusting away. But hey, I crossed the fence. And for the first 48 years of my life, I never imagined that might happen. Not in my wildest dreams. P.S. To keep this on subject, there ain't many that can say they raced at Ryan Sullivan's testimonial, at the showground.1 point

If only half the stadium is open - this will reduce the maximum crowd capacity , and pro rata reduce the maximum crowd permitted under the 50% of the max capacity rule under the Covid 19 rules for sporting events. You have to have the whole blinking stadium open to allow for social distancing , not just huddle them all together !1 point

Could Poole use Swindon''s executive back-straight facility on loan for the season?1 point
-
No he will not for the same reason we did not bring back Erik Riss. His average is almost the same as Riss and we did not bring him back because his average is to high to fit into the team. Management have said they will not release (sack) any riders to fit in the last rider. Newcastle say that they have released Vissing because of the problems he will have with Covid travel restrictions flying in and out of Europe. Think there may be many clubs in the same position before the start of the season with the Covid rates in Europe at the moment.1 point

Yes you must no place for positives here. The opportunities did exist in previous seasons and was run as the MDL/MSDL. Second half races run under the same format that did allow up to two NL level riders per team, hardly any took up the opportunity due to the fact it was an unpaid ride and the possibility of being beaten by those after their place. It ran very successfully driven by the hard work of very under valued volunteers until the ghost team ruling was passed thus driving out most competing teams and paving the way for this re-brand / claimed new event (all hail the BSPL). Five of the six PL teams have entered development league sides previously and all withdrew the level of support to these competitions. I see no reason why they simply couldn't have entered teams into an existing league and possibly created North/South groups from that if the travelling was a genuine concern? I would be delighted to be proven wrong and that this is all for the benefit of the sport with zero self serving interests but i fear this is just another step to pave the way for a final destruction of the current NL as we knew it.1 point

Tai Woffinden, despite having broken hand, did his best to make sure that his team Wroclaw reached for bronze medal in the Polish Speedway ExtraLiga. He made available for Dan Bewley not only his engines from Ryszard Kowalski, but also mechanics, and during the two final matches personally supervised the progress. The effect was surprisingly good, because the young Bewley scored 23 points in two matches for the bronze medal and was by far the biggest surprise at the end of the season. Most importantly, the 21-year-old rode not only efficiently, but also very effectively, and confirmed that his problems at the start of the season were due to poor equipment and not fear of risky riding. (…)His position in the Wroclaw team will be rather unchallenged, because currently Tai Woffinden, Artiom Łaguta, Maciej Janowski, Gleb Czugunow and Bewley are sure of a contract for the next season. In recent weeks, several clubs have applied for the Brit, but Wrocław have told them that they do not intend to release him. (source: Przegląd Sportowy)1 point
