They were happy days. Watching Parker trying to steal the tractor at Foxhall , Buster coming to blows with the Ipswich officials , and Bunyan getting upset because the Stars fans laughed at him for demolishing the safety fence in all his rides.2 points

so not only do you have to have had a vaccine but you also need a smartphone!!! incredible really but I'm not informed enough to comment with authority. i wouldn't have thought having had a vaccine makes a person less likely to transmit the virus, they are just (hopefully) immune to becoming ill from it. so if the unvaccinated public are now those less likely to become ill from it anyway what difference does it make? I'm not sure who we're protecting now??? sounds like the young people in this country are being handed a rough deal. they're the one's who've put their lives on hold to protect the elderly and NHS, they're the ones who'll have to pay for all this (in one way or another). imagine if the strategy a year ago had been only the old and vulnerable had to be isolated, for their own safety. not sure exclusion of a section of the community would have been viewed acceptable then.2 points

I’ve done Kings Lynn v Ipswich at 11am then down to Ipswich for the return meeting v Kings Lynn in the afternoon often used to start late to get the crowd in I seem to remember them dash back to Peterborough in the evening 3 in a day2 points

I’m sure there is an obscure rule or he’ll make one up that says he can run r/r for the first month which would be a joke and when the new averages come out he will have more scope to sign a rider he wants. .2 points

whilst i am aware of who said rider is, i dont think the team will be that bad at home.. yeah we're gonna take some absolute thrashings away (just not at plymouth, the oap's will be begging for their retirement home by then) but we should be ok at home1 point

Last year I said Bartek Zmarzlik was the greatest ever and I stick by that. What a race. I don't know how anyone can stop him from winning the World Title again this year.1 point

They will have from mid May- the best 15 year old rider in the world.1 point

Pepe under and exactly 9 looks pretty good to me. Not huge value but likely to come in I would say!1 point

I agree. He should take a year out imo. It's only going to get worse otherwise. He's a good rider but a crash like that can end your career mentally rather than physically.1 point

fair point. as it stands I wouldn't be able to attend as I've not been offered a vaccine. but it would mean I couldn't take my father who has had his. but I was talking more generally. I'm sure pub owners will be delighted to open their establishment just for the vaccinated whilst the young people who spend more money are barred. Who is going to pay these businesses the resulting shortfall? Starting to feel like some kind of Black Mirror dystopian society in which you only get access to recreation depending upon how much tax you've paid in your lifetime.1 point

For a few years i have been using this https://polontv.com/player my dads pays for it i think its like $20US a month never a single problem with it recommended.1 point

I have to say that the package offered to the sport is a very poor one. I hope speedway fans all over the country will be utilising their vote in the upcoming May elections to voice their displeasure.1 point

I'm of the same opinion, especially with the way the current world is. Lockdown is saving me so much money, £10.99 per month for speedway is good value. I won't have to worry about finding a dodgy stream tomorrow, I can enjoy speedway in HD and benefit from the expert commentary that Dave offers.1 point

No he will not for the same reason we did not bring back Erik Riss. His average is almost the same as Riss and we did not bring him back because his average is to high to fit into the team. Management have said they will not release (sack) any riders to fit in the last rider. Newcastle say that they have released Vissing because of the problems he will have with Covid travel restrictions flying in and out of Europe. Think there may be many clubs in the same position before the start of the season with the Covid rates in Europe at the moment.1 point

Well it looks like I’m in the minority here but I will be prescribing to Premier Sports. It’s unfortunate that they’re not showing all the meetings but I’m often unavailable on a Sunday so I can watch them when I like during the week on Premier Player, which is a lot more useful than finding a dodgy stream or relying on it being uploaded to YouTube etc. Meanwhile they will show the Copa America in July that I’ll watch too.1 point

lots of benefits here .. Richard has been around speedway bikes long enough to help if needed elsewhere too i expect1 point

Ronnie Moore’s defeat of Pete Smith was at Poole on 21st July 1971. He had defeated the previous holder, Richard May of Reading, the previous week to become the new holder. He lost the Helmet at Leicester on the 27th July to Ray Wilson. Wimbledon were not involved in any Golden Helmet match races after that. Trevor Hedge, earlier in the season, had been beaten by the then holder Ole Olsen at Monmore. Coincidentally, Olsen lost the Helmet by default through injury; the same method and reason he regained it at the season’s end.1 point

Watching Krosno at Czestochowa it was sad watching Peter Ljung. I Honestly believe that Peter should retire, he obviously hasn`t got over that horrendous crash in Sweden last season. he just appears to have no confidence at all.1 point

Especially when the operating and business model that they have ran now for so long was/is so clearly, glaringly unfit for purpose if you want to make a success of the sport..1 point

No secrecy from me. If?? The people running British Speedway have consistently failed the sport for 20+ years. The fans are not the problem here, footfall through the turnstiles is all the proof needed. There's been no "I told you so" from any of us that no longer go. We want this sport to be the best (which it can be) but the promoter's have zero ambition to do so. Their way to keep the money coming in is simply, as the crowd numbers fall, admission prices go up to make up the shortfall. British Speedway's business model is run in an absolutely appalling way.1 point

unfortunately i think there are a fair number of secret "i told you so" on this forum, just to prove a point if things fail1 point

It is clear from many postings over the years here on the forum and on Facebook pages that Kenny Carter enjoys hero worship status amongst many. Thank goodness I am not the only person who feels deeply uncomfortable by all this. According to Tony Mac’s excellent book, a close friend of Pam’s claimed that Carter regularly hit Pam and prevented her from going out and leading a normal life. So now it turns out our hero is a wife beater, a man who inflicted mental anguish on his wife and then finally a murderer. If Carter’s actions on that fateful night had come about after some blazing argument resulting in a red mist moment, it may have made this whole wretched business 1% more bearable. However we know that Carter travelled to the Huddersfield area the day before the shooting to seek out the murder weapon, eventually sourcing one on the day of the murder so he had plenty of time to consider his actions. The decision he had made, to murder his wife and devastate the lives of two young children, clearly identifies this as a premeditated and truly heinous crime. Some claim Carter had become unhinged over the years and that his actions were fuelled by his, admittedly terrible, upbringing. Some are also now tagging a mental illness spin (with no proof), on the story but listening to Carter’s many inarticulate, and cringeworthy ranting interviews on World of Sport over the years he comes across as a little more than a hot headed child and frankly, not very bright. Many people are raised in deplorable and shocking circumstances but don’t go on to murder. If you take the position that it’s possible to separate Carter’s speedway career from his personal life, then you have to ask yourself this question: Is Kenny Carter’s speedway career more important than Pamela Carter’s life? It’s interesting to speculate about what might have happened had Carter not killed himself that night. Presumably he would have spent the rest of the 80’s, all the 90’s and some of the early century in prison. Would he have been given a heroes welcome home on the day of his release? As a convicted murderer, I doubt that he could have returned to speedway in any capacity and especially now given the extremely high profile nature of the Me Too movement and the game changing outrage over the murder of Sarah Everard. Kenny Carter would today almost certainly be banished to complete obscurity, a sad old man. Would his fans still be lauding him as a hero and legend in these circumstances? But of course by killing himself Carter conveniently avoided all this, thus bestowing upon himself the status of moral coward of the very highest (lowest) order. The achievements of people such as Carter, Phil Spector, Oscar Pistorius and many others in their respective fields, will aways be there on record. Nothing can take that away from them, but what we should do is to stop eulogising them. Their crimes have cancelled their status as legends or heroes. RIP Pam1 point

It was only a few months ago that the news was full of the death of Phil Spectre, who died in prison having committed 2nd degree murder (manslaughter as we call it). Was there a news suppression of his contribution to music, was there heck! The BBC and all the rest made sure we knew all about his 'wall of sound' and all the stars he helped bring on. Yes, there was a cursory mention of the young lady he shot, but not much made of it. Therefore, it is quite normal, perhaps bizarrely, that we do still remember the great things people have achieved, even though they have committed atrocities at some point.1 point

Murdered his wife... Made his own kids into orphans... I can only presume that there were obviously no divorce lawyers in Yorkshire... Take away the Speedway connection completely... Only a vile selfish individual could do such a thing to his own family...1 point

Kent are not allowed to do double headers and also have other issues with Planning Permission and everyone knows that it restricts the numbers attending. When push comes to shove, the riders have to be paid and even raw novices have to have top class bikes these days. Personally, I am very glad that it is planned to have Speedway every week once Maytime come in. A lot of clubs do not do that. But the Covid bug has not yet disappeared, so lots can change between now and then.1 point

Which management?? Buster regardless is going to be a villain Peterborough, I get that. The Speedway management have said the decision was made by the owners, the owners say it was the Speedway. Someone is lying, but that's where Buster does have issues, communication is dreadful, even when he's right.1 point

You're talking like they'll be 50,000 at speedway meetings. Yes, anything that has spectators will be expected to require a Covid Passport. Getting people through the turnstiles should be no slower than previous though. Even before you still had the old prats that had nothing prepared to enter until they reached the box office, then fumbled around for 10 minutes finding cash.0 points
