  1. 1) the paying public feel short changed (again?) 2) the junior riders miss out and wonder why they bother? 3) the paying public wonder why there was a 25 mins interval between the meetings.

  2. ... and while the MDL/SDL may have had its problems what about the successes of the Northern Junior League? Integrating 500cc and 125cc and this year trialling - along with Birmingham from the MDL - a way of bringing the 250cc classes into a meeting set-up. Obviously nothing and (virtually) nobody is perfect ... but at least some are trying to improve matters. Perhaps, just perhaps, there is more than a sticking plaster solution needed. The answer might be more important than whether towns without a team for decades are included in a league or not. Maybe it needs a radical overhaul - as long as teams don't pull out when they don't get their own, very club-centric, way. If all four leagues are flourishing in the future you'll still find something to whinge about .

  3. As an away supporter I've been disappointed that car park charges apply when it is then followed by a walk of the distance that is needed to get to the track. I'm currently able to do it and feel extremely disappointed for those less physically able who want their Speedway fix. This situation is greatly compounded by this current Blue Badge status. Having assisted friends who are wheelchair bound to attend speedway meetings I have been amazed by the differing facilities and support offered at speedway tracks over the years. For this to happen in 2021 is an embarrassment at both a Peterborough level and BSPL overall. A thumbs up to those who have kept this topic live. A thumbs down to those who can get it sorted and haven't.

  4. Seems from what I am reading that the chances of Workington coming back are quite bright, so as someone who knows what it is like to lose their club, I wish them and their supporters every possible success.

  8. I have just spoke to them and they have confirmed they are showing the matches live, starting Sunday 4th April Not sure why they aren’t showing the matches scheduled for Saturday 3/4/21 or, if those two matches have been cancelled ive just spoken to them again and they are showing 72 live matches from 4/4/21 and, also showing the Swedish meetings from may onwards. if you had a subscription last year but cancelled it at the end of the season. When you subscribe, go onto the promo code section and enter : SPEEDWAY2021 ( type speedway in capital letters). this will get you a 12 month subscription for £80 instead of £120 only negative being that it’s a one-off, upfront payment for the entire £80 hope this helps everyone

  9. Perhaps you’re right but I find it a bit far fetched that the BL is seen as a threat. In my opinion it should be a training league and the vast majority of the riders in it should be inexperienced youngsters with minimal professional third division riders. I appreciate that Mildenhall and IOW probably fall in between the NL and the Championship which is a great pity, ideally you would want them in the second division but it’s well known that crowd levels haven’t supported that in the past.

  12. Probably the opposite to what happens if it's a sunny night, the senior fixture is completed without delay and the junior fixture goes ahead as planned.

  13. Pictures taken very recently. There’s no pits or other buildings because they are not there! Track has been made a lot bigger (when it’s completed ) lots of ongoing work.

  14. Taking the EoES out of it because it was a club decision to remove a working system that had been in place for the best part of 20 seasons for their disabled customers, here's the potential discrimination for you to see: - indirect discrimination - putting rules or arrangements in place that apply to everyone, but that put someone with a protected characteristic (ie disability) at an unfair disadvantage. It has to be said that they are probably legally entitled to do what they've done with good justification (not that I'm sure that it'd be a legal matter anyway?). I doubt that their current explanation would win the day if it ever came to that, which it will not. I remember Jim Lynch threatening to take the EoES to court when Mercer arrived at the EoES as CEO and threw the disabled out. That probably put the rent up a few hundred quid. If the club are happy to take the hit of losing paying customers and resulting poor public relations at this time in particular then more fool them perhaps!

  16. I have no idea what anyone else has seen or said, I'm just quoting what Alun R said in an interview that it isnt supposed to start until the summer so we shouldnt be surprised if theres no change at this point. As a lifelong Reading fan I'm very cynical towards anything Stadia UK say, but I guess we'll see in the summer...

  17. From Flemming's website (courtesy of Google Translate The Dane Flemming Graversen, currently one of the most sought-after tuners in the speedway scene, is now coming onto the market with an in-house design: a DOHC cylinder head for the short-stroke GM engine. The aim of this new design was to achieve a higher torque in the lower speed range in order to improve the acceleration after the start. Therefore, the maximum speed is only 11,000 rpm. but an increase in performance between 2 and 3 hp compared to the series was achieved. The camshafts are driven by 2 chains, whereby the chain coming from the crankshaft drives the inlet camshaft and a second chain then branches off to the exhaust camshaft. The camshafts are mounted on one side in needle bearings and on the other side in ball bearings, which keeps friction losses low. By using light metal materials with very low weight and machining with the latest CNC milling technology, the weight of the The complete engine, as offered by Graversen, weighs 27.2 kg, only about 1.2 kg more than the production GM. As is usual with four-valve engines, the spark plug is placed exactly in the middle of the combustion chamber. The inlet valves have a plate diameter of 34 mm and a shaft diameter of 5 mm. The plate diameter of the outlet valves is 33 mm and the shaft diameter is also 5 mm. The valves face the combustion chamber at an angle of 22 °. So he has built a completely different cylinder head (double overhead camshaft ) completely changing the characteristics of the original GM, but re uses the the GM "bottom end" ? Lots of tuners have done his in the past ... adding new top ends to existing bottom ends. So don't see an issue. Sounds like GM need to step up and offer thier own dohc motor ?

  18. For me the Njl is a far better format with the 125 then 500 and know with the introduction of 250 makes it a complete package. Give kids an opportunity to join a club and become part of it and see a clear pathway throughout the levels if good enough. the Mdsl with its 500 ruling only gives opportunities to older riders who have come through the other cc classes elsewhere and have reached a sufficient level to be allowed to race with adults. Then it claims to of developed them which is not strictly the truth.

  21. Your certainly entitled to your opinion, however biased it appears. But the championship is way and above the strongest division it’s ever been, as televised matches proved time and time again on sky. It’s the Premiership that has been watered down for the last 5 years or longer and as for the NDL, well, it wonted to be ‘ professional ‘ but not pay its dues, now it’s been forced to be what it was supposed to be , a development division . The gap between the leagues should be just that, a gap. In division 2 days their clubs no.1 was used by the division 1 clubs as a RESERVE, that how big the gap used to be. If you know clubs who have recently provided all that, please name them . As someone who was involved in rider payments on behalf of a club I’d love to know who was going to that level as we had GP standard riders on the books and they certainly didn’t get those things.

  22. I think A simple rule to start racing at 7:30 prompt with no excuse. With at the promotions descretion a parade at 7:15. Then a full 15 heats of PL/CL or NL racing then a 15 minute parade for the victors & a little track grade followed by programmed Junior racing followed by scratch racing or practice until curfew.

  28. “The NDL is threatening the higher leagues “ , have you lost your marbles ? . The “ imposed rules “ how do they “solely benefit the CL ? “ Few clubs pay accommodation and all the “ other frills “ , unless you sign for Glasgow those things rarely, if ever , happen now. Riders have to pay for their own visa’s, clubs only pay for a work permit to employ such riders. You come across , repeatedly , as extremely bitter and you need to get over it. Ever other one of your posts is ranting about the changes in the NDL and how your glass is completely empty never mind half full. Try talking about something positive for a change.

  31. Nah sitting around and listening to people moan all day sounds very tedious Yes i am upset, disappointed, saddened, angry about the decisions that have been made and the BS spin that has been served up with it. In a couple of years when all the four leagues are flourishing i will happily congratulate the board for their superior forethought. If as i suspect there is only two and a bit leagues left i hope others acknowledge that writing has been on the wall for a while.

  35. needs a good pits staff to get things moving along and known times for track grading and intervals. At Birmingham we achieved that and ran a slick presentation , had 10 min interval time for the kids to come out and have activities , ran MSDL 6 heats plus 125cc demos after heat 2, 4 and 6 and even had time for practice if we finished before the 10pm curfew . Just needs organisation and the right people in the jobs .

  39. I don't see why Workington Comets couldn't operate out of a new venue. It's the ownership name that wouldn't (possibly) be allowed to operate. The team name has nothing to do with ownership.

  40. A threat to what ??? They have imposed rules on the NDL as they can do ( “ in the best interests of the sport “) , what the heck was it threatening ? Other than pretending it was a professional league and paying wages way above a sustainable level but that was upto them , it wasn’t and isn’t threatening any thing !

  42. I am that person that had the E Mail which was unequivocal that this was not down to the EOES( I still have the E Mail). At the time Peterborough was run by a triumvirate of Buster, Colin Pratt and Carl Johnson. I do not necessarily think the instigator was Buster. As a matter of interest last time I went to KL there were no designated Disabled Spaces but the did try to direct BB holders to a small area near the ticket office. However the entire KL car park is nearer to the Arena than even the existing arrangements at EOES.

  47. Robert Lambert,Erik Riss and MPT replaced by Ryan Kinsley,Bridger and possibly Lawson. Makes you realise how much the league has had to be watered down.I still think that if such a watering down of the league was necessary, it should have been 1 league and 6 man teams to at least try to maintain interest/ sell the concept of a new start .

  49. The NDL has been threatening the higher leagues for ages in that it did deliver entertaining racing at a price that was relatively affordable. The paying public were able to see riders learn and develop and form an affinity with British riders rather than watch fortunes paid out to overseas mercenaries that blight the higher divisions. The wages for most clubs were entirely sustainable and indeed Kent declared a profit every season it ran at NL and IOW always maintained that break even was the minimum requirement. Yes the rates have crept up and theres no hardship giving them a bit of a trim but the imposed rules are to solely benefit the CL. The CL want reserves on £40-50 a point but are happy to pay massive guarantees to washed up PL double downers and throw plenty of funds at the visa requirements of unproven riders. It would certainly be interesting to see how much a 4 point Brit would improve over a season if they were given a base salary, accommodation and all the other frills that goes to non eu riders. The NDL was a sustainable product hence why several clubs dropped down to regroup after experiencing financial difficulties and ironically (or pre planned) the lower grade product will be a much harder sell to the paying public compared to the CL.....a coincidence? i think not.
