http://sheffield-speedway.com/news.php?extend.2945 The fact Mr Mole 'cannot understand some of the negativity' sums up why speedway finds itself in the position it is.... Head in the sand syndrome brought on by self interest abounds through the whole piece Love the 'Josh could be a trump card' line - no sh!t Sherlock5 points

As everyone knows a 'poor team' is generally regarded as "overall bad for business" as they get beat at home and dont then generally attract a crowd away from home so all clubs then suffer.. One reason Plymouth have been allowed in I would think is that they have one of the all time greats of the sport in their team in Jason Crump and another ex 'World level' rider in Bjarne Pederson basically doing a "farewell tour"... Add in a couple of exciting potential new talents from the USA and France and you will certainly have something to 'sell' each week for both the home and away promotions.. And 12 months later, when established and with more time to plan, they can then start to build on what will hopefully have been a good year.. They seem a progressive promoting team down there so that alone can only be an asset to the sport...3 points

It will not be just the "Brazilian" strain that will cause this but the high number of "cov-idiots" s that travelled out over the weekend after a few days of reasonable weather at this time of year. WE ARE STILL IN LOCKDOWN FOR HEAVENS SAKE!3 points

I seem to remember Hyde Rd having a turnstile that clicked but never registered... Similar to a great many sporting venues at the time when it was pay at the gate... Is it a crime to over inflate your attendances? Especially nowadays when so much is paid by card, tracks could easily show how much they take if the IR get involved, but still put out the odd 'mistake' when it comes to attendances.. If you read "3000 fans at the NSS for the Aces v Wolves match" if may get some of the many "sheep like people" to follow the week after.. Nothing wrong with a nice bit of 'economic with the truth' hype...2 points

I think he'll be reassessed as he hasn't been doing much for the last 1990 years or so2 points

I'm sorry but...... "I cannot understand your negativity" "Fans buying tickets for matches that dont exist could become a real trump card for this years bottom line" Wow - this talking bullsh!t lark is easier than I thought2 points

I notice if you go to that page it encourages you to buy tickets for Sheffield v Belle Vue ... on 6 May .. there's nothing like looking professional, and this is nothing like looking professional.2 points

Dale Allitt has replied to my queries re BB parking and Season tickets. Naturally as things stand it is unreasonable to expect a definitive answer on this. Dale seems a lot more friendly to the fans than previous regime. Re BB parking however it seems that he gas been led to believe that it was all down to EOES , I have sent him the E Mails from Jason Lunn to show this is untrue. I really think that if Dale had any input decency would prevail .l2 points

The Plymouth promotion have already stated they will not be making any changes except in the case of injury or a rider not getting to grips with the Plymouth track, certainly no changes will be made just to up the points tally its just about becoming established and competitive in the championship which I think we will be, certainly entertaining can't wait to get going.2 points

Each week in the Speedway Star's on & off track questions riders are asked what they would change in the sport, they often have very little or nothing they want changed! It's a worry if no-one has any idea how to improve the sport or worse still that the sport doesn't need improving!1 point

Do Ipswich have any afternoon fixtures? I have a grandson that would like to go but evening start times are not good. He is only 4 but likes videos of the racing and is keen to go.1 point

Back in either 1988 or 89 I was at the Czech Golden Helmet at Pardubice where we stayed at the Grande Hotel. The night before the main meeting we were all in the bar (beer was the equivalent of 2p per pint, a Coca Cola was 4p) when in walked Kelly Moran, he'd flown in late after riding for Belle Vue(?) earlier. He proceeded to catch up with everyone else and by 2am was totally pissed, ignoring all attempts to get him to go to bed. I guess around 3am he called it a night - around 12 hours before the meeting - and promptly fell over in the lift and damaged a hand which swelled up like a balloon. Next day we were on the bus ready to go to the meeting but no Kelly, who was getting a lift with us. The tour organiser eventually got him up and out and he was clearly hungover. The parade for the meeting back then involved all the riders walking a lap of the track which they did, waving at the noisy crowd but trudging along on his own about 20 yards behind the rest came Kelly, wearing still dirty leathers. He ran two very distant lasts and that was his meeting done. The meeting organisers must have felt extremely angry and let down. As has been said, a super talented rider who didn't achieve anywhere near what he could have.1 point

Under declaring crowds, not declaring correct vat etc etc, I’m sure the promoters were not as bad off as they made out.1 point

Whenever a club changes nights there will be winners and losers.....I believe that supporters have been asking for Fridays as it means the kids are not in school the next day and therefore more likely families will attend on Friday . Hope this works.... I think Friday is a better night.1 point

Obviously i hope that is the case and that the Plymouth farewell roadshow continues to draw the crowds (i admit im equally keen to see the legends again) however if they are not as dominant as they should be at this level my interest would wain and a fear others would feel the same, if the team is bottom two which is my opinion of it then there could be problems this season. I do however hope im wrong and its a mid table team and gives a base to build upon for future seasons. Apologies forgot about Newcastle and Brum....updated to bottom 3 side1 point

I think you will be proved wrong Plymouth will be far from the whipping boys imo,in Bowtell and atkins we have have a very strong reserve pairing only bettered by 2 or 3 teams imo,Atkins will surprise a few people this year i think he will make good progress Bowtell has been unlucky with injury but if he stays fit he will do fine,Cook, ruml and goret all have huge potential and will become assets so all in all the Plymouth supporters are very excited and hopeful of some exciting speedway this season, I predict we will finish 6th place at worst.1 point
-
Precisely. If something makes money, it attracts investment. It may not be the whole answer to speedways prayers, but it is a good base to start.1 point

Off to Cornwall for a weeks holiday in July, so hopefully will take in the Leicester match.. And then Poole on the Wednesday maybe (not been given permission yet, but to be fair, it's because I haven't mentioned it yet...) Will be great to see Crumpy again....1 point

the D of E don't care about averages just employment for Brits above foreigners1 point
-
As a Plymouth fan I think we are in an almost win win situation..... we have 2 huge names at the top and several riders that are going to learn and work as hard as they can. now the win win part..... everyone hits the ground running.... perfect if people struggle then after 4 home and 4 away meetings a new set of averages are out and I can imagine Plymouth will more than likely have a few points spare to play with when this happens.1 point

Using that argument won’t switching to upright make it more expensive as all the lay down engines / frames will become obsolete as everyone has to buy uprights? also second hand kit will become worthless so anyone starting up would have to shell out a fortune as only new stuff would be available1 point

Nothing worse than someone that doesnt follow their own advice....... It's such a shame when a prize bell end manages to derail threads. Yes we are all to blame for even acknowledging the said bell end and of course it's exactly what the bell end wants # note to self - leave the bell end to it in future1 point

There has been no Zoom Meeting nor AGM for the NDL. If there has been then Sings4speedway would be right in that IOW (and I assume Mildenhall/Plymouth too) have been excluded from any such Zoom Meeting or unofficial AGM/Pre AGM. And if there was a pre AGM without IOW knowing I would be particularly miffed as it was ME who got them introduced to the NDL midway through the season with a view to discuss what worked, what we need to improve and how to collectively move forward. As always keep well and safe in these tricky, troubling times.1 point

Does Poland really need (want) Chugunov in their national team? Chugunov should remain loyal to the Russian national team, just like Emil and Artem do, who also have Polish and Russian passports, but stay on the Russian side. But it is up to him to decide where belongs to.1 point

I am hearing that interest in this matter is spreading wider and could result in even more negative publicity. Looks like management may not escape unscathed. Hope they have got a better explanation than they have come up with so far.1 point
