Barry Briggs was quoted once as saying the following about Hyde Road..... if you cannot RACE at Hyde road you are no Speedway rider A quote to qualify what a super track we had at Hyde Road. Now we have ridden at the NSS for a while I believe that the NSS Is better than Hyde Road. One more quote about Hyde road from Hans Nielsen this time..... it is the only track where I can be leading going into one of the bends and one rider goes under me with another taking me on the outside coming out of the bend in3rd place3 points

Ludicrous ideas! Without the 3rd tier, you probably wouldn't have Birmingham, Scunthorpe, Plymouth, Berwick and Eastbourne in the 2nd tier. These are clubs who either dropped down to the NL to keep going or reopened in it! Mildenhall and the IoW probably would close if the NL folded! The step from junior racing to Championship level is huge so the NL is a more than useful stepping stone!3 points

There was a big article in the speedway star at the back end of last year where the owner of Northside revealed his plans to build a big track on spare land on the site and eventually build up the facilities and stage League racing there. - This indicates that the current track wouldn't be the track used for a League team there! This takes us back to the ludicrous poster who suggests scrapping the 3rd tier of British speedway, one of the best innovations in speedway ever, something that should have been done 15- 20 years earlier, a League that enabled clubs to reopen/ open in a cheaper viable set up and has provided the stepping stone for many young riders including Britains most successful rider Tai Woffinden! - In the the case of Northside, I presume that a League side there would be called the Workington Comets beings its in the Town and that was the name of the long running speedway team that used to race at Derwent Park in the town until it closed a couple of years ago due to low crowds making it unprofitable. - Now do you think that anyone would be willing to restart a previously unprofitable speedway team if the 3rd Division didn't exist meaning they would only have two options being the Championship, the very League Workington were unprofitable in or the Premiership which is probably even more expensive to run in?2 points

There are no set dimensions for a track length and northside has previously had junior league and British youth championship racing held there so it must have conformed at that point2 points

Never trust a talent however good they are if they are stuck in the mindset of retirement/break/comeback from the sport as they'll always let you down2 points

I think it’s a ruml I could be wrong but one of them can’t remember which one has said he has agreed a contract in the championship with someone.1 point

Saw this on Twitter earlier, there is hope for us BREAKING: The UK have offered to host the whole of the EURO 2021 this summer after ministers confirmed fans will be let back into football stadiums & outdoor music festivals by the end of May. [The Times]1 point

I know that. It's a decent little track, been there many, many times... but I feel british youth round are all it should handle. National league meetings are a different thing all together... would be good to see but I just dont see it happening. I assume the track dimensions are legal in terms of the rules, but safe and interesting? Probably not1 point

I would say riders like Palin are lucky this year , both top top leagues look the weakest they have been for at least 30 years. If a rider can’t attain a 4.00 average at least in the championship this year, that has to be a hugely hugely worrying sign. Palin does look set for the top though and a top prospect. I fancy Tom Brennan to make massive strides this year.1 point

Apparently Olle had throat cancer which was in remission, but he finally passed due to COVID-apparently Peter Oakes will be doing a piece on Olle in the Speedway Star which will also mention this.1 point

I am sure that Jordan will blossom this year with his experience in a Championship side.... Riding for Peterborough will be brilliant experience which will help his career.1 point

I just hope the BSPl dont poke their unwanted snouts into a League that they know little about and ruin it for the stand alones..1 point

Just shows that one person shouldn't be involved with the running of two separate clubs , we all know he shouldn't of been allowed to buy Peterborough especially with his reasons for doing so and its clear that many fans of Kings Lynn and Peterborough are not happy with the situation ,but at least Lynn fans know that he wouldn't sell there club when it finally comes to it. I dont attend meetings now but as you say a club remains in your heart after the memories of many seasons that live with you forever, the value for money aspect did for me about 20 years ago , the GPs started the watering down team process and i never did attend a british GP even when one year i won some tickets from a national paper then gave them away ,i dont miss attending meetings it just becomes the norm in the long run and ive never been tempted to return ,1 point

1. Jason Crump 12.00 2. Zach Cook 4.00 3. Joel Andersson/Zach Wajtknecht 4. James Sarjeant 3.90 5. Bjarne Pedersen 10.37 6. Alfie Bowtell 3.02 7. Henry Atkins (2*) Total: 33.29 5.71 Left for number 3 position... Not a bad looking team at all considering how late they had to start and they will have A LOT of points to play with once Jason and Bjarne get their proper averages... If Todd Kurtz could be tempted back to the sport he could fit at number 3 too1 point

Palin is one of a few riders that looks extremely promising for the UK future.1 point

I think your right, I believe speedway in the UK has to take a couple of steps backward to be able to move forward to stand a chance of survival. Semi professional / amateur riders with weekend racing where possible I think would be a good starting point. A professional league with there super fast expensive laydown bikes and the rest on upright machines and before anyone says another bike is more expense remember many riders today have 3 or 4 bikes to run and maintain back in the 60 /70s most riders had one upright machine that they used and kept going for a full season. I wait to be shot down by some.1 point
