Why don't you just shut up about it now, and leave this section for Sheffield related items. If by some other worldly chance in the next few years your idea is anywhere near correct, start a new topic "I told you so " or similar. If there's no BSF by then if the state has taken all liberty away as you're convinced we'll remember you were right all along.4 points

Wouldn’t be British Speedway without something like this though, would it?4 points

So did Crump, but people can come out of it if they want! During the first lockdown when Poole showed title winning highlights and talked to the main riders from that season along with sometimes management, Matt was trying to get Bjarne to agree to ride in the Championship! Maybe he has worn him down! IDK.2 points

Also on the first bend, probably after shoving past Lefty when leaving the Top House! About half a dozen of us hired a crap cheap mini bus for the weekend, the plan was to camp anywhere we saw suitable. Left Friday evening, stopped at a pub on the A1 near Peterborough for a beer, set off again then back to pub to retrieve my coat complete with tickets that I'd forgotten, then camped at some service station. Top House, final then on to Halifax for the evening meeting then pub. Then looked for somewhere to camp, it was pissing with rain by then and very dark, finally found some quiet flat area to pitch the tents, just got set up when flashing blue lights descended upon us. We were apparently camping on a cricket pitch and were politely asked to bugger off. Moved on and we all slept in the van. Onto Belle Vue for the test match then broke down on the way home. Happy Days!2 points

Och aye that was no a bad idea ya had there... The beer's were very welcome but no cigars as I have never smoked and don't intend to start now and on the choice of viewing I prefer something a bit more educational like "Rab C Nesbit" as it gives an insight into the Glasgee psyche and mentality and also goes someway into explaining some of the pish that gets posted on here... do ya ken what a mean there Gash... (or is it Wee Burney)… #sadface #sadface #confusedface #threeamigos #threestoogies #threesuckholes... Regards THJ2 points

I think that if the tracks can keep their pre Covid crowd levels then they will have done well... Two main reasons.. One, the demographic of the fan base and the % level of it that is in the higher risk categories, there are still many questions to be answered around how the various vaccines will cope with the usual mutant strains that evolve from a virus, let alone deal with the original one... And two, the financial hit to everyone that will inevitably have to be taken to pay for the huge black hole in the countries finances... Speedway (and sport in general) will be a long way down the priority order as to how money is spent I would think.. And a possible third impact is a bit more random, but my mates and I have all had Season Tickets at Old Trafford for a few years but probably won't be renewing.. The reason? Not particularly financial for us, but simply we have got out of the habit of going, and pretty much decided that watching the game in the comfort of your own armchair is "fine" and that spending over a grand a year, plus circa £100 a match getting there, eating and drinking, isn't really money well spent.. Many ex fans say on here how after a month or so of not going to Speedway that they didnt miss it, and that they too often simply attended out of habit... In marketing it is reckoned that if you do something/or stop doing something, for 28 days it becomes your 'new normal, hence campaigns are often around four weeks in length to try and influence that change.. Getting people to go back to doing something after well over 18 months has passed will be a serious challenge and will need a very strong campaign of advertising I would say... Lets hope with Eurosports involvement and support the campaign can be successful.. But the size of the challenge certainly shouldn't be underestimated..2 points

Yeah josh is unlucky ! On a championship spot so far but I'm sure he will feature in the national league at some point like he did from 2017 to 2019 with Stoke Birmingham & Leicester... If the speedway starts ?2 points

Everyone has a role to play in the future of the sport I think for domestic Speedway if its £15/20 with kids free then that is an OK price2 points

Apparently shale is the preferred surface for the foreign stars of stock cars which the promoters want to attract to Odsal.2 points

The one thing i do hope is that riders are limited to two leagues this year. The whole tripling up thing becomes laughable and blocks up teams sports for those other riders trying to progress.2 points

It’s all an absolute nonsense. A good idea ruined by a stupid grading system. Surely averages can’t be used for determining grades, otherwise, why not just use averages and forget grades? There should just be a group of “British juniors” and any team should be able to sign whoever they wish without averages or grades dictating that.2 points

I think kieran Douglas is probably 1 of the most unluckiest lads to be overlooked for a NL spot especially after Buxton closed2 points

With all the problems surrounding Brexit and the current travel restrictions which are likely to continue for a while, I think that to use British riders was the right move. While I don't study team make ups normally, being a bit bored in lockdown, I saw the figures on this forum which made interesting reading. It looks like Eastbourne, who chose Brits for 2020, and able to keep them all under the new rules ( which I have not had the chance to get to know and/or understand) have the strongest team in the league. Almost everyone else, who had listed foreigners originally (like Covatti at Kent) is now playing catch up. No one's fault, just the extreme circumstances that have hit us. For myself I will not worry about winning or losing this year, just happy if I can see some action.2 points

Smack on again MikeBV. I was raised on a home meeting every week keeping the habit. Never looked at what else was on. A few early rain offs could be catastrophic on attendences when we start up again.1 point

Just to add to the intrigue around Poole's team re-building for 2021, on the facebook 'Memories of Poole Pirates' page, the administrator posted a Speedway Star cover showing Jason Crump and Bjarne Pedersen winning the Pairs back in 2007. Underneath was a comment from Matt Ford " Watch out for some extremely exciting news about these guys"!!! Let the intrigue commence.............1 point

Things could swing either way for Speedway if it gets to start. With what's been near 12 months of restrictions the idea of open air sports may appeal, even to those that's never been before. British Speedway need to be prepared & push local area marketing.1 point

Even in 2019 there was not much difference between the the premiership and championship. Most teams had one top rider I wont call them stars the rest were all double up riders. If the season starts then once again there will be little difference between the league's and you can be sure promoters wont be shelling out big contracts so I think a lot of fans wont be happy paying a premium to watch premiership racing.1 point

I've heard Crump and Batchelor.... problem is that it's: Troy Crump & Jason Batchelor!!!1 point

Indeed but on this occasion I don’t think the authorities are entirely to blame, COVID and Polish muscle flexing has changed the landscape of available riders significantly. I’m in favour of the future star scheme as I believe we have the most promising crop of U21’s for several years and would rather they ride at reserve than foreign fillers. That said I can’t see me paying the best part of twenty quid to watch what will be on offer too often. Admission should really be reduced but can understand why that is highly unlikely to happen.1 point

Might be too big a facility for league racing but would make a great venue for a speedway version of Rugby Leagues 'Magic Weekend'. I know Bradford isn't the greatest place to spend a weekend but it's close enough to Leeds to make it attractive to visit. Run all of the shared events (pairs, 4's, riders championship even a knockout cup) over a weekend and pack the place out. Nicely located for fans from the North and South. Great memories of the 1990(?) World Final. Great atmosphere.1 point

Amen to that. In fact, we should all be happy if the sport can see a way forward and not disappear altogether.1 point
