i say give him a chance, he's British, he lives here, wait and see what the commitment is like before knocking him down7 points

One of the best returns I've ever witnessed was Andrew Silver. A retirement of 15-16 years & still averaged over 5 in the 2nd tier. Don't know if that gap can be beaten?? As for Lewis Bridger, as long as the average is sensible neither rider or club have anything to lose. Good luck to him4 points

You’ve partially answered your own question. Godfrey WILL do what he wants. He CAN run any day he likes as it’s his stadium with little in the way of restrictions, the simple answer is he makes good money off hiring the track out at weekends ( amateur meetings , stocks etc ) so he’s not going to financially penalise himself by going back to Sunday’s. He is also the chairman of the mafia and so will do what he wants and others will do as they are told, Peterborough and Workington being recent examples who were dictated to by him and Buster and forget the ‘ benefit of the sport ‘. Your ‘ dream ‘ is just that, a dream, sadly.4 points

Or they may choose to let us know something really big, like which riders prefer coffee to tea. That should get crowds rivalling Poland.2 points

I'm clinging to the hope the vaccine will be well rolled out by then and we can nearly get back to normal by May.Afterall they are giving the vaccine to the speedway fans first, the over 80's now the over 70's soon be the over 60's and that's just about the fan base covered. Any old/new fan is good news to have at the speedway,so hope you do make it back2 points

With respect Kylmakorpi bikes are about as good as they get so it would have been a bit of a shock if he wasn't flying. He chose to use the hire per ride jawa bikes. We hear it all too often in the sport "if i had better bikes/engines id win" well get them and prove it, nobody owes you anything in speedway, money, team places and respect all have to be earnt.2 points

I would imagine there will be spots for riders like Bridger and youngsters alongside him, if anything this whole situation is going to see riders like Hartel and other modestly talented European riders not riding over here which isn’t a bad thing IMO. I don’t think we should be discouraging or turning away any British riders who are good enough and want to ride in our leagues.2 points

Personally I’d have thought giving young British riders a chance would be far better for the longer term future of British speedway than giving has beens a team spot .2 points

Imagine ensuring that having enough guests are available as one of your main priorities when planning a fixture list? Rather than planning one that takes every opportunity possible to run Speedway meetings at weekends... "Please take us seriously fans, media and sponsors".....2 points

It’s not Scunthorpe attendance Godfrey is worried about, it’s the lack of available guest riders with so many Friday night tracks , Scunthorpe, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Redcar, that’s eight teams already committed out of 11 or 12 in the division . You need a number 1? you now only have 3 or 4 to choose from and some of them might be injured or unavailable. For once it makes sense not to have another Friday night track , wherever it is.2 points

In all honesty if Bridger gets any team place its firstly a kick in the teeth for any rider who misses out and has bust a gut for the past seasons trying to get a break, secondly he managed a few laps at Leicester before deciding/realising that its not for him/he doesn't have it any more. The3 natural talent was there but the brain isn't and there is far too much baggage to make him a sensible signing......which puts him as a cert at Kings Lynn.2 points

New ideas.... Green helmet colour, golden double (twit hat) 6 lap final heat, 6 man teams, 8 man teams, 16 heats,18 heats, bonus points, no bonus points can't be any of these all been done before.1 point

Was just wondering why is everyone desperate for news there's still at least 14 weeks to the start of the season1 point

Oh yes I'm told "The Big Bang" announcement could be a major sponsor such as a famous cleaning product.... However if it's the "Finest Universal Cleanser Known" League then there could be concern if the product name is abbreviated.1 point

I think we can all agree Lewis Bridger was a fantastic talent on a speedway bike, with few better. If he still has the riding ability he's 20% of the way there, however it will be the other 80% that's required that will determine whether the proposed comeback will be a success or not! A Lewis Bridger (when on the gas) is the type rider needed in every team that would be great for UK Speedway.1 point

The land that is currently being developed is alongside but not including the current speedway car park and track - This land is what used to be the overflow car park that was used for league meetings and usually full for the Pairs. Edited: Spelling1 point

Maybe i am being optimistic.I just feel in over 3 months a lot can change for the better.Over half the population should be vaccinated so that should really leave only the fittest. We will be out of Winter by then.Plus the Government will want the people to believe the vaccine has worked so some sort of normality will be resumed.Having said that i just don't believe half of what the Government are saying at the moment.1 point

The point i was making, when he changed to GM he was a totally different rider. You can have the best machinery in the world but you still have to ride them!!1 point

Can anyone of us say we will be attending meetings at this point in time ? who even knows when the season will start yes they say May but that’s by no means certain- in my case circumstances have changed and I have much more time on my hands so definitely more likely to attend meetings.1 point

Hardly out of order, he was well beyond his sell by date before he retired so a has been is probably a fair comment. He was without doubt a very talented rider but way too reliant on sponsorship. At the end of the day he was self employed - same as me. If i turn up to work with inappropriate tools I lose work so I dont see how speedway is any different.1 point

Who's to say young British riders aren't going to be a chance also? So Bridger has been retired for 4 years and had a few problems in the past(who doesn't) but to class him as a has been is out of order.1 point

I remember Bob Kilby and Phil Crump also coming back and being poor reflections of themselves too.1 point

He announced on social media many months ago that he was making a full time comeback. Didn’t he ride in a couple of meetings in Australia not too long ago?1 point

I would be pleased to see Connor back. I have spent many happy hours over the lockdown watching the videos of the 2019 title winning season and he was one of the reasona why it went so well. From the Leicester web site recently it looks as if the other 6 riders will be as planned. Not sure abour Bridger - didn't he sign for the Lions once put then only rode once or something like that before he packed it in again!1 point

Except it does happen in football. Tranmere Rovers, and I think Colchester Utd, among othets have often played on Fridays because of issues with police and medical cover meaning they give way to more senior neighbours.1 point

Some great news from Poland- Tomasz Gollob has got feelings in his legs, feet and toes. https://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/8770/progress-for-polish-great-gollob?fbclid=IwAR0S3gmTLZFR51yqvDL38mM4j-ZBkpjJ6BzzYo-MWamwq_JAJjYqnkVF0XQ1 point

I saw Gote at his immaculate best in 1966 and 1967, when two successive wins in the Internationale at Wimbledon were achieved with sublime 15 point maximums against very high quality opposition.1 point

Massive opportunity today to revolutionise speedway in the UK, get a proper all encompassing streaming service set up, race on the nights we want to with riders who will be fully committed to the leagues and their clubs with a fan base who are going to be desperate to see some speedway if and when it gets going this year.....but will they take it? How much faith have we all got in the folk running British speedway?1 point

Spot on... The following season is affectively a free pass given to them from all the fans desperate to see some Speedway... They could have 'relaunched' the sport in the UK, with innovative, fresh, exciting, new ideas for the Sport in the UK.. Some which would work, some which wouldn't. . However, those that worked could then be built on for future success, and those that didn't replaced with other ideas... Going it alone was never more such a huge opportunity to be taken, becoming truly in charge of your own destiny, not being beholden to anyone other than their responsibility to FIM events.. Be interesting to see what innovative, fresh, exciting new ideas they have come up with with this huge opportunity for a reset and relaunch..1 point
