  4. In all honesty if Bridger gets any team place its firstly a kick in the teeth for any rider who misses out and has bust a gut for the past seasons trying to get a break, secondly he managed a few laps at Leicester before deciding/realising that its not for him/he doesn't have it any more. The3 natural talent was there but the brain isn't and there is far too much baggage to make him a sensible signing......which puts him as a cert at Kings Lynn.

  10. pretty sure they make a lot of income through hiring out hospitality facilities to cover any major loses and with nothing coming in could maybe lose it all nobody knows how long the hospitality will take to get back up and running

  11. But will be another southerner who does not like coming up to the north on a wet summer weekend

  12. As I am sure Norbold will confirm Ronnie cams back virtually world class after a 6 year retirement , but as far as I recall he is very much the exception that proves the rule. Others have come back with varying degrees of success , but I struggle to think of any ( apart from arguably Todd Wiltshire) that really came back as a force to be reckoned with. Ian the context of Lewis , my mind continually goes back to his final comments when he last retired. He said the kneck injury he suffered in a fall a Berwick meant that he would wake up in pain every day for the rest of his life. That might have improved by now but one awkward fall is likely to knock a hole in his confidence, then it will, probably be all down hill. I actually like Lewis. He is a good rider and has been generally a good servant to the sport , but I can’t see any way a comeback is going to succeed , apart from beating juniors and reserves in a weakened league.

  13. Bridger is indeed making a comeback.

  14. did Graham Jones make a come back for Berwick around the early 2000 seasons in the bandits team after after calling it a day ? i seem to remember he could gate very well and looked really good , apart from the rubber ring around his tum tum . my old mate Terry Kelly would prob do a good job ..

  17. Newcastle thread seems to imply Connor Mountain is coming back to fill the Perks sized hole in the Lions team. If Bridger is also signing that suggests that one of the heat leaders (most likely Morris) may be pulling out.

  18. Just out of interest, because maybe I am sceptical, but has anyone made a comeback after a 3, 4 or 5 year break and been a success ? I could quite well imagine Crump doing it to some extent. Not going to be the rider he was, but in the UK could do well

  19. Yes I have seen that one Jason, think that is the meeting that stopped Coventry getting into the KO Cup Final or something like that, its just a shame that there is not much around from that Era as wanted to see more from his British league days

  20. Bridger said on his Facebook it's a PL Club. I did wonder if it might be Brummies as he lives close to Peter and David Surely Josh Bates is Leicester signing now Somerset not running?

  21. Its Crazy isn't it. Can you imagine if in Rugby Union they said Wasps and Leicester Tigers couldn't play their respective home games on a Saturday because Leicester were the senior team and had priority. Or Even in football. It would never happen. Each team has its own support base. If Plymouth ran on a Friday night it would have no effect whatsoever on Scunthorpe's attendance.

  22. Well for a start if he signs for Lynn he will effectively be replacing a German rider which cuts out air fares and puts a British rider in work. It’s not without risk and he could be a revelation or a disaster but on a sub four point average I’d have thought it’s worth a shot.

  23. I'm sure its just a coincidence that a BSPL website item about Leicester having got a new signing lined up, is followed immediately by one about Lewis Bridger making a comeback?

  27. Bit of a shock, but if he signs for Lynn i for one will give him a chance to prove he has changed his ways a bit.4 years out is a long while and this may have re-kindled his love of the sport he had as a youngster.Undoubtedly he had great talent and if he came in at a low enough average say for reserve it could be a great coup for any team.He could also not be a great coup, time will tell i suppose .But i think he deserves every chance like most of us do at some point in our lives. And i am not a Bridger fan,but he could change my mind.

  30. Simple answer. The BSPA does not like what they refer to as "Ghost Teams" unless it suits them of cause. There have been a few such teams using such names operating in the junior leagues over the last few years but prior to the 2020 season the powers that be banned them. I think Cradley not running was finally the excuse they needed to remove this thorn from their sides. I think it got to a case where some of the people (not all I may add) running the ghost teams were nothing more than a bunch of glory hunters using defunct names to play real life fantasy speedway. The BSPA gave them a criteria that they had to show concrete proof that they had acquired land to build a new track in the catchment areas of the said defunct clubs but the reality of that happening is like Donald Trump becoming the president of Greenpeace. Things can change though and if Rob Godfrey ever decided it may be good business to run a second team in the National League as either Halifax Dukes or Hull Vikings the ghost team rule would change overnight.

  32. Those lads who want to better themselves should go to Poland and elsewhere if they see fit.. No issues at all with that.. However, if they want to ride in the UK then they will have a choice to be made.. In the eyes of so many Speedway is an entertainment over here, rather than serious competition, which means it should run when it can get its largest crowd in.. If that means racing on any day or night during the week then that is when each individual track should be given the right to run.. As long as every rider makes himself available for every meeting that the club wants to run, and when they want to run it, then all the riders can ride wherever they want... No disrespect intended, as I am only using him as an example as a GP rider, but Jason Doyle riding at Belle Vue on a Monday night wont bring a couple of hundred extra punters above the usual die hards in.. But a meeting on a Friday or Saturday night without him there, definitely could, given the amount of "non regulars" who still follow the sport but go only very occasionally... Belle Vue, as an example, seem to have around 1100-1200 who attend every/most meetings, yet can get 2500+ for Bank Holiday meetings. Which means there is an underlying fan base already there and all you need to do is get some of this extra 1300+ to attend more often. And I would 100% suggest getting them to attend more often at weekend is easier than getting them out on a Monday or a Thursday night.. The Aces have lost two riders from their initial 2020 team, Kildemand and Lidsey, however crowds wont be decimated by their absence, (again no disrespect as they are just examples), in fact I would be amazed if anyone decides not to go because they are not there, therefore the sport is pretty much down to its core, die hard support, so run it when you may get some "extra" in.. Bottom line is. Not enough punters = No Speedway. No Speedway = No Speedway Careers..

  33. So assuming Bridger signs Lynn will presumably line up like this Cook Riss Jorgensen Kerr Proctor Bridger While the priority should be to get the league up and running again I wonder if this is an indication of team strengths this season?
