  3. Yes you give the criteria, i will just throw an hypothetical example, If Cradley said they wanted to ride at Monmore in the Premiership in 2021 what would the response from the BSPL be ?, Its totally hypothetical as it wont happen.. but i think most of us know what would happen to the Ghost team situation, it would turn into "its for the good of the sport" or some other reason to allow it..

  7. I am a firm believer in "what goes around comes around. " It is Poland's time to rule the roost in the Speedway World at the moment. Let us hope when the "bubble bursts" , when the Polish supporters find other things to do with their leisure time, and their TV companies find another sport to put on their channels that the GB promoters are just as robust in imposing punitive conditions on the contracts of riders who decide that they suddenly want to return to ride in the UK. As a now independent Sovereign nation we ought to be developing our own riding talent ...... and imposing contract conditions to restrict their ability to suddenly sign up for EU nations and quit the tracks where they learnt how to race. No longer are we saddled with EU employment rules.

  9. Simple answer. The BSPA does not like what they refer to as "Ghost Teams" unless it suits them of cause. There have been a few such teams using such names operating in the junior leagues over the last few years but prior to the 2020 season the powers that be banned them. I think Cradley not running was finally the excuse they needed to remove this thorn from their sides. I think it got to a case where some of the people (not all I may add) running the ghost teams were nothing more than a bunch of glory hunters using defunct names to play real life fantasy speedway. The BSPA gave them a criteria that they had to show concrete proof that they had acquired land to build a new track in the catchment areas of the said defunct clubs but the reality of that happening is like Donald Trump becoming the president of Greenpeace. Things can change though and if Rob Godfrey ever decided it may be good business to run a second team in the National League as either Halifax Dukes or Hull Vikings the ghost team rule would change overnight.

  13. But they are, Premier League allowed 3 subs from 9 on the bench, EL five subs from the bench, however this doesnt alter the fact that the BSPL like to put its spoke in the National League wheel, a wheel which it has little idea about how its run and tries to ride rougshod over whenever it doesnt like whats happening, such as not allowing so called ghost teams, a Ghost team will always attract a few more supporters than the Junior team of a senior team, those supporters simply will simply stay away. As an example Wolverhampton rode in the Conference League watched by one man and his dog, they changed the name to Dudley Heathens and we all know what happened then.. If a promotion wants to ride its junior team under a historic name whats the harm it it ?, BSPL answers on a post card please.

  19. Way off topic but got stuck watching an"elite" sport today as the top 2 football teams played and couldnt score a goal , still all the players had nice haircuts, compare that to a night at the speedway only one winner there.

  20. Got a feeling they'll be a points lowering, or something similar, even so sure we'll have a strong team even if we have to make a change, just hoping we can still start with Jason and Drew at reserve.

  23. There was an old adage in Speedway years ago...you make your own stars within 2 months....Always listen to what your customer wants..imo people want 1. Entertainment. 2. Value for money 3. racers not riders..4. decent toilets and food. 5. team members who are yours and neither borrowed or racing for another uk team. 6. A Team..not made up of seven people whose name you can't even pronounce. 7. get rid of race times..it impresses nobody and puts nobody on the gate 8. Standardised equipment..Obviously riders wouldn't like it..but if it saves money they will quickly come round...9. Never let the tail wag the donkey..10. The NL concept is the road map.....entertainment again..

  24. They're hoping to build the new Southampton Speedway Track between Locks Heath & Fareham. Infill land just off the M27 is now in the process of being bought by a former policeman, and planing permission is going in shortly to build the speedway track . Infill land means houses can't be built on it, and noise issues wouldn't be a problem. The initial plan so I'm told would be for use as a training track along with amateur meetings, which are becoming more and more popular.

  25. as a rule of thumb, the tv director will be watching what's out front, no good if it's just one rider on his own, tv was there to try to encourage people to go to a meeting not turn it off. one rider is not what i want to watch. the old NL in the 80's had it right (before Rye House put a spanner in the works) using British & Commonwealth, something like that with the occasional American's/Europeans if they qualify is ideal as long as they're committed to the British League and live here. supporters cheering their team because it's THEIR team is what i grew up with (until World Final night), it can only benefit the clubs, track shops, riders, and as mentioned more likely to get sponsors. fair play to those earning big money elsewhere, get it while it's there, but if they're not riding in GB then it's extra special seeing the GP series, and could boost Cardiff attendance if fans aren't seeing those riders on a regular basis.

  27. Former club manager Dale Allitt, working in an advisory capacity, said: “Whatever happens with the outcome of the AGM, I am confident Peterborough will have a side more than capable of challenging for the top four.'' As things stand, 4th would currently be 3rd from bottom...

  28. Used to be £10, in total, for me and my lad at the NSS to watch the Colts. . If anyone was sat next to me who didn't know about Speedway, they truly wouldn't have questioned the standard.. Brilliant racing. Brilliant value for money. And Brilliant to see the genuine, clear, body language, (delighted or devestated) reactions of the riders as they crossed the line, dependent on their finishing position.. I have thought for a good few years now that the NDL model is the way forward for the sport to grow.. Use it as the 2nd Division, with an "Elite" 8 team, 6 per team, top league which uses their own riders. . For many tracks, if an NDL team was their 'only ticket in town' to watch Speedway, I would suggest crowds wouldn't be too different from their current levels, and with costs so very much cheaper, it should mean potential admission cost reductions too.. "They" seem to get it right, so join them..

  29. You need to get your facts right. The NL has been independently run for several years, they have their own meetings and don’t pay any fees to the BSP Ltd and get discount on their insurance and referees fees via the BSP Ltd. So where’s the interference? Jason Pipe is a volunteer, nothing more nothing less.

  31. Have to agree, we need to build again in GB.We certainly can’t compete with Poland regarding money and sponsors. We need to cut our cloth accordingly.IMO.We certainly won’t lose any fans, and we might attract some new ones if we get the entertainment factor right, without the “ Mickey Mouse “ rules.
