  1. I think the last line is key, ONE GP rider who rides over here, and if his family wasn’t based here I suspect he wouldn’t. Lambert no longer resides in the UK and as well as his two leagues will be doing GP, SEC and presumably GP qualifying. Riding once a week in Sweden rather than often twice over here plus the extra travelling and less down time must be a big factor in his decision. Loyalty doesn’t really come into it for me, he has to do the best for himself and his career whatever that means. Tai is obviously a role model and mentor for him and his achievements since he cut out UK racing speak for themselves. As I said I don’t blame him at all and hopefully he goes from strength to strength and continues to develop into a world class rider.

  2. All 100% accurate... But nothing that hasn't been said on here, clubs' own fans forums, and in the Speedway publications, a gazzilion times over the past two decades or so.. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum I am afraid.. The glaring issues have been there for a long, long time and must be obvious to all... But still not sorted... A classic example is that they have had a NINE month lead time to plan ahead, plot their own way forward, be in charge (once more), of their own destiny, and what do we have...? "Give us another week will you?"

  3. Have to disagree. Doyle has always doubled up and rode as often as he can. Before settling with a family and after. Its that constant determination that seen him become a world champ. Everybody knows he probably has less skill than most former world champions but he worked his balls off and reaped the rewards. I remember him at Newport, he was only about 50 percent fit during the bulk of his spell there yet tried his nuts off in every race. Compare his attitude to Lamberts and there is no comparison I am afraid. The theory that Lambert has it all to prove now and Doyle is proven is also nonsense, it would make sense riding more often at a younger age. If he wasnt a Lynn rider I am sure attitudes would be a whole lot different off their fans.

  4. There are just not the international meetings between countries these days that there was in the 70/80’s.Can’t see that changing anytime soon. Most riders just want to ride in Poland these days for the money and you can’t really blame them, considering the state of the sport in GB.Think you will find that if any of the youngsters coming through show some real talent at BL league level, they will be off abroad as soon as they can get a slot.Loyalty and Money don’t go together in Speedway.

  8. Justgotmecpc, but COVID isn’t just spread by airborne, there is touch problems as well. So if someone stays locked down at home, COVID could come into the home via deliveries of food or other things. That’s why after one of us has been shopping, or receiving mail through the post etc we wash hands.

  9. Jason Doyle rides with an England flag on the leg of his kevlars. Sure, it may be partly down to his family life but he is still loyal to this country and, thankfully, Swindon repayed that loyalty when the BSPA tried to get rid of him by giving him an average of over 13. At least there's one GP rider who is keen to ride here.

  11. Six man teams in both leagues? Premiership Lite? Two Prem heat leaders, two second strings/championship 'third' heat leaders who double up, two Championship second strings/reserves who double up? Championsip Lite? One heat leader (doubling down), three Championship level second strings/Prem reserves doubling down, two reserves (NL double uppers?) Mainly British, lots of rides for the double uppers/downers, and gives plenty of the NL lads a chance to race in the 2nd tier.. Maybe even do some number crunching to devise a set maximum points limits on each segment of the team, ie top two riders, middle two riders, and bottom two riders all have a maximum points level per pair that you must work to, this would prevent one team having two outstanding heat leaders... Very important that each track gets a fair crack at putting a decent team together..

  12. i think getting work permits may be the issue, new rules and all that. and i agree that they should only concentrate on those 100% committed, that's the only way forward from here on

  18. I like Doyle, but if he was at the beginning of his career with no family so to speak he would have dropped the UK imo.Just what Lambert has done.Doyle don't need to prove himself anymore.Lambert is now having to prove himself against the best riders in the world, and with the current restrictions the Poles have laid down i don't blame him racing Poland and Sweden.Although Sweden isn't as strong as it use to be it makes sense at the moment.Hopefully the Poles will drop the 2 league rule at some point and we may see some of the other riders back in the UK.

  19. So what? Doyle has been one of the most committed riders I have seen on UK shores in 20 odd years. He has given nothing but 100 percent in every race he goes out in, never misses a meeting because he can''t be arsed and is pure entertainment. Has not once considered ducking the UK and would ride every day of the year if he could. You would struggle to find a rider past or present or future who puts a club before their family. Lambert is just a prima donna, big sulking baby and your probably better off without him long term.

  22. It is pretty obvious that they spent December working on plans for 2021 with an Easter (or thereabouts) start, and now they need more time to rework those plans.

  23. Hadnt Doyle signed a deal in Sweden as well as Poland but dropped his Swedish commitment to stay loyal to British speedway? Seems the most loyal rider to these shores is an Aussie and full respect to him.

  26. Having a major rider (who will have had fixtures planned around his own individual ambition and racing schedule), be announced the day before the planned AGM that he won't be riding over here, suggests the last nine months of planning opportunity hasn't been too well delivered doesn't it? Maybe the time has been spent on the usual "how can we work around every one else's agenda instead of ploughing our own furrow and become in charge of our own destiny?"...

  29. british speedway didnt do anything for robert in his early stages, thats why he and his parents travelled to germany every weekend so robert could get some competative racing when he were 12/13.the powers that be would allow him to do so in the uk.isnt it strange how when he showed his real potential they were all over him.........another young rider that vatcher & co cant claim credit for

  31. Just an update on the Rye House situation. A mate of mine that lives in nearby Broxbourne popped in to the 'stadium' yeaterday. The speedway circuit has disappeared and the foundations for the new astroturf pitches are being laid. Not good news for those trying to save the track.

  33. Hi mate they are the rules as per the regs . But due to this being British speedway they made it up as they went along . After Luke won the final round officially he should of been the champion. However when the rules were mentioned the reply was just go win it on track . Which he did in the run off . Rule book only applies to certain aspects of the sport on certain occasions. in fairness though it was a wonderful series at 250 level and either Max or Luke would of been worthy winners

  34. Six of one, half a dozen of the other I think. The attitude I always seemed to get from BMR was that they wanted to compete at the top level. I think they tried to run before they could walk too. The fixed race nights did exasperate things but the way our expulsion was handled was terrible in my opinion. I don’t think there was any Lakeside bounce. Our crowds did go up initially but that was due to having the likes of Harris and Nicholls riding for us. That novelty was always going to wear off. Second tier Speedway could have been sustained at Rye House undoubtedly. Taking Rye into the top tier was bad business. Anyone who thinks otherwise, the team went bust. Lakeside’s ultimate demise came after ours, they raced their last home meetings at Rye House. Another thing that sits ill with me. The last heat at Rye House didn’t even feature Rye House.
